Blakely I awoke to a myriad of strange scents, one of them being Azrael’s, and a raging case of cotton mouth. Rolling over in bed, I snatched the goblet off the side table, and brought it to my lips all without checking the contents. Thankfully, it was cold water that splashed against my tongue, deliciously crisp as it trickled down my throat. Only after I set the goblet down did I realize I was naked beneath the blankets. How lovely. Memories of what happened at the brothel crashed over me, threatening to send me into a panic. Rather than give into the tidal wave of emotion currently thrashing in my chest, I turned my attention to my surroundings. Surveying the dark room, I took in the four postered bed with its lush coverings and the vanity closet just a few feet away. Blakely My heart clenched at his confession, “I’m seriously your mate? Draco’s too?” Lips soft and swollen tipped up at the corners. He leaned in, his dark hair falling messily over his forehead. Blakely My heart picked up its pace with every step I took towards the two snorting creatures. Sweat trickled down my spine. The air around them was several degrees hotter than the surrounding street. Two sets of eyes, both burning like hot coals, turned my way. Gold-cloaked guards roamed the walkways, each one equipped with a wicked blade. According to Azrael, they were Galen’s enforcers. Men and women meant to keep the peace during the day. The horse’s fiery manes began to crackle as I neared. I was almost certain their twitching ears and thrashing tails weren’t a good sign, but I had no clue what to do. Blakely I bit back the venom on my tongue and crooned in a silky sweet voice, “Lovely to see you again, Orion.” Now standing behind me, Azrael coughed into his hand to muffle his laughter. My attention was now wholly on the disheveled looking God standing in the foyer of the mansion. His dress shirt was partially unbuttoned, giving me a glimpse of his pale skin and just a hint of his dark tattoos. The runes printed on either side of his torso spanned down his ribcage and highlighted the sharp ‘v’ I’d gotten an eyeful of the night the mansion led me into his bathroom. OrionMy face stung, the pain a troublesome reminder of what I’d done. Regret hovered close to the surface, trying to rise each time I violently shoved it down. Blakely The roar Draco unleashed as I fled made the floor beneath my feet tremble. Coming up to an intersection, I turned left so quickly that I clipped my shoulder in the process. Pain sparked down my arm, numbed by the heady cocktail of adrenaline and fear coursing through my veins. Hearing the thunderous footfalls not too far behind, I realized how truly fucked I was.
