Chapter 21: Reconciliation

I inhaled his scent; I could not deny that I love his smell. I could feel his arms around me, and the calm swaying was comforting. I opened my eyes and met his red eyes. Those intense bloody-red eyes deceived me.

‘I miss you,’ even in dreams I could not get away from him. I looked around and it was the garden in his backyard, he continued swinging slowly.

‘You should not have returned to them.’

‘Who are you to tell me, Zild?’

‘I am your mate.’

‘Lies, too many lies.’ I whispered. To myself maybe. I let him hold me close, at least in his dreams he could hold me like this. But who am I fooling? The rhythm of my heart, the calmness of my body, and the peace in my soul were enough to prove the existence of our bond. To be in his arms was my safest haven.

I leaned on his chest and placed my hand on it. ‘How does it feel, Zild? How does it feel that you can not make me do what you want?’
