Chapter ten

Damon's POV

Helen was waiting expectantly for an answer and I opened my mouth but nothing seemed to come out.

She rushed forward and grabbed my hands in hers, holding them up in an imploring manner. I quickly looked around checking if people were watching. Helen was not a public display of affection type of person, she preferred maintaining an air of decorum around her.

"You haven't answered me, Damon. I asked if everything was fine." She reiterated.

I pulled my hands from here and tucked them in my pockets, ignoring the look of hurt that flashed over her face.

"Yes, Helen. Everything's fine." I answered her question, wishing I could be anywhere but here at the moment.

"Awesome!" She clasped her hands in front of her in delight. "Does that mean that tonight's dinner is still on?"

My eyes flew to her face, wondering what she was going on about now. What dinner could she possibly be talking about-

Crap! I thought as I remembered. I was supposed to be hosting her family tonight for dinne
