                            Chapter 1

Essence's POV:

3 weeks later

"Are you going to help me move this stuff in the apartment or are you going to stare at all the guys who walk past?" I asked, glaring at Kimani.  I have taken in six boxes compared to her two. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming geez, you so in a rush it's still early and we just got here can we take a breather?"  Kimani reply grabbing a box and taking it inside the apartment. We left late last night so we could get to Florida early in the morning so we were running on fumes by now which meant we had  little to no sleep. But I wanted to at least get most of the stuff in the apartment before we take a break. Because once Kimani stops it will be impossible to get her to finish moving everything in.

"Let's just finish getting the bed and the couch in the apartment then we can go to the campus to look around and grab some food but that's after a shower and a nap." I said feeling tired myself. "Okay let's do that because I'm ready to see what college will be like." Kimani said excitedly which I will admit I was a little excited myself.

Syncere's POV: two p.m.

"Yo, did I mention that I hate summer basketball camp. First it's hotter than monkey nuts out here and second I'm tired of getting up at five a.m." I said to my teammate as we headed to the pit to grab a bite to eat. We have been doing basketball drills since six a.m.   "Shit, you say that everyday and I feel the same way messing up my summer fun. I would be happy as hell to be curled up with some honey at five a.m. instead of looking at yall ugly faces every day." Shawn said laughing. Me and Shawn met our freshman year at basketball tryouts. We hit it off immediately, we were the starters because we were the highest ranked players on our team.

Walking into the pitt we see that it's crowded as hell you would think they were giving away free food. "Damn it's crazy in here today. You go look for a table and I'll order our food." I said to Shawn.  "Alright bet, but it looks like we may have to share a table with someone." Shawn says weaving through the crowd.

Essence's POV:

a few minutes earlier:

"Damn we were lucky that somebody was leaving when we were looking for a table. Shit, I thought we were about to be eating on the floor in the corner." Kimani said sitting down at the only free table in the campus hang out called the Pitt. We have been walking around trying to learn the campus layout. We made sure to find out who and where our advisors and the buildings were, before our classes start come August. I was a business major and Kimani was a Sports Medicine major.

"Who was going to be eating on the floor,  certainly not me I would have nicely got my food to go.  You must be crazy if you think I was going to eat on anybody floor. "  I said giving her the side eye with a smile.  "It's real crowded in here to say it summertime I would think people wouldn't be on campus like this, if they weren't going to school or taking any summer classes. If it looks like this now I can only imagine how it will look come August."   Kimani said looking at the many faces in here.

"Damn where is the ketchup who the hell eat French fries without ketchup. I feel like that should be put on your tray automatically when you order fries. Now I have to go back through that crowd, and I'm telling you now, that I'm  not standing in no line just for ketchup." I said getting up and heading through the crowd.

"Excuse me, excuse me." I said loudly trying to get the cashiers attention, because the first three times wasn't loud enough apparently. Sighing loudly. "Yes can I help you; the line starts back there the cashier said with the attitude pointing at the back of the line like it's my fault she had to work today.

"I'm not ordering I need ketchup there was none  on my tray." I shot back with an attitude. She grabbed a hand full and drop them in my hand. I wanted to cuss her ass out, but I was trying to be an adult now. I was no longer in high school so I had to learn how to not drag a bitch across the counter. I took a deep breath, turned around, and walked straight into a brick wall.

Chapter 363 “I don't think these tables are going to hold much longer.” Kain said as he and Martrice sat with their backs against the door the three men were trying to get through. “Then we better make sure we take them out before they can break the damn door down.” Kain said, checking his gun, then rubbed his wound. “We've tried to shoot them, but they have more fire power then we do so we can't waste any bullets.” Martrice said as he tried to look to see how much time they had left before the door completely gave out and shattered. “Yea we are going to have to shoot our way out, it's only three of them which should be easy work.” Kain said, as he got to his knees staying low, the men were trying to take the door off the hinges. Martrice looked at the generator and panic started to set in, he hoped his family was close to finding Essi and Kiki so they could get outta there. “I know I don't think that we were really going to let them go after momma by themselves.”

Chapter 362 “How many more floors do we have, till we get to the bottom floor?” “Friend, I was just about to ask, did they add floors to this hospital while we were running for our lives? Because ain't no way there is these many floors in this hospital. Is this the stair way to hell friend?” “This gotta be an introduction to hell. If it is, they’re killing it because I already regret life.” Essence and Kymoni said breathing hard, they went from walking fast down the steps to walking slowly and having asthma attacks. Big C went to his sister and turned around. She frowned about to cuss his ass out but she saw that they were on the thirteenth floor and changed her mind. She got on his back, closed her eyes, and sighed in relief. “WHAT THE HELL KIKI, I DIDN'T OFFER YOU SHIT, DAMNIT!” Kristian yelled when Kymoni jumped on his back. “You don't have to tell me, momma E said yall have to treat us the same way, Since Essi is getting a ride I am too, so hurry up. Chapter 361In the waiting room: Sharon and the Taylors: “We need to get out of here, there are bullets flying everywhere, if we stay here we could be caught in the cross fire.” Judge Taylor said as she stood by the door trying to see what was happening outside. The men watching them had left as soon as the shooting started. “I am not leaving here without my son and husband. You can do what you want. I am staying here until my family is safe.” Sharon said as she paced back and forth. “You still think you have a family? Your husband just told you he doesn't want you anymore, and your son basically cut you out of his life. The sad part is knowing you, what your family found out about you isn't everything you have done. Remember I helped you more than once, I might as well tell you now, if I can make a deal to get out of prison sooner, I will tell them everything I know about what you've done.” Judge Taylor said, looking back at Sharon. “You wouldn't dare, remember your

Chapter 360 “We only have an hour before the generator runs out and the electricians haven't gotten here yet. Somethings wrong, I have bypassed the systems they use to alert them that there is an emergency, but no one has shown up.” Martrice said, as he hacked into the emergency systems at the police stations and put out another alert. “What happens when the generators give out?” Kain asked as he rubbed his chest wound. Martrice had to force him to take his meds, to ease his pain, but he didn't want to because it made him woozy, he didn't like not being in complete control especially when there is danger lurking. “If the generator goes out then we will be in complete darkness, patients that are still in here will be in danger. Not to mention the killers who are after Essence, not being able to see it will be even harder to get the hell outta here.” Martrice said as he sent out more alerts for help. “Well you better hope that someone comes really soon.” “Why?” “Because

Chapter 359 The bullets were coming down fast. Kekoa looked at his brother and then at Maya who was crying in fear. “Don't worry I promise you're going to be ok. You gotta trust me, I love you ok.” Kekoa kissed Maya as he moved her. He used his feet to push off the wall and as soon as he swung out he threw Maya who screamed as Big C and Kekoe caught her and pulled her in. Kekoa, sighed in relief when he saw that she was ok. He smiled at his brother just as a bullet pierced his arm. His eyes widened as he lost his grip on the wire, as he began to drop to the floor below. He heard Maya screaming and closed his eyes knowing what was coming next. Then out of nowhere someone grabbed him, he opened his eyes and looked at a face that mirrored his own. “I got you brother, we came into this world together and that's how we will leave this world.” Kekoe said as he strained using all his strength to pull his brother up. Big C, Kristian, and Recce head him by the legs. They saw th

Chapter 357 “WE NEED TO MOVE NOW! WE GET OFF ON THE NEXT FLOOR DOWN. WE WILL BE SITTING DUCKS IF WE STAY IN HERE, WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DEFEND OURSELVES.” Big C said as he picked up his pace. He was nervous now, his sister was already injured and the baby is probably already stressed and tired of their entire family. He couldn't let anything happen to her, all this was his idea, he didn't want to fail her or his niece. Essence since Big C's mood change, his face always told on him and how he was feeling. He didn't think so but we all knew how to read the signs. Essence put up a fuss and was scared as hell that they were going to fall to their deaths, but she trusted her big brother. He was the closest she had to a dad, and he knew it also so he always made sure that all his siblings saw him as someone they could admire. Essence squeezed him tighter, “I'm glad you came for me, I don't know if I would have made it without knowing you were going to walk through hell to fi
