Ethan's POV

My heart was thumping loud in my chest when I read the text on my phone. I jumped up, pulled on a T-shirt and shorts, and called my bro Luca. I tiptoed out of my bedroom so I wouldn’t wake up Sarian, my girlfriend. When Luca answered, I couldn’t hide how worried I was.

“Luca, what’s going on?” I asked quickly.

“Uh, Ethan,” Luca said slowly, “she’s not here. She left the country.”

I stopped moving. My head felt all mixed up. “What do you mean she left? You said you found her!” I was getting mad and sad at the same time. I wanted to yell at Luca for making me hope, but then—ding!—the elevator door opened.

A little boy, maybe five years old, stepped out. He looked nervous, and I forgot about being mad. I was just confused.

“Oops, sorry,” the boy said softly, looking up at me with big, unsure eyes. I hadn’t seen any kids in our building before.

“Hey, little guy,” I said gently, so I wouldn’t scare him. “Are you lost?”

He nodded, looking around like he didn’t know where he was.

Back in his apartment, Ethan couldn't shake the thoughts that swirled in his mind . Jacob…are they really married? he wondered, pacing the floor. Has Sophia really moved on?The image of Raven calling Jacob “Dad” played over and over in his head . But then, at another moment, the boy had called him “ Uncle Jacob.” Ethan couldn't piece it together. Was Jacob just a close friend? Or had Sophia truly built a new life without him?He clenched his fists, feeling a tightness in his chest. The uncertainty gnawed on him, but he wasn't ready to face the truth yet. Ethan leaned against the window, staring blankly at the city below, lost in thought. The idea of Sophia moving on, building a new life with Jacob, felt like a weight he couldn't shake off . He ran his hand through his hair, frustration evident on his face.Raven called him Dad…but also uncle Jacob. Ethan's mind spun, trying the figure out their relationship. His heart wanted to believe Sophia hadn't moved on, but the signs were ther

  • DEAR EX WIFE, YOU WERE NEVER A CHAPTER    CHAPTER 40

The night passed in restless wave for Ethan. Sleep evaded him, his mind playing every moment of the gala, the argument with Sarah, and most of all, Sophia. She was so close, below him , I'm the same building. He couldn't shake the gnawing need to see her again, to make sense of the emotions he was caught in.The clock read 6:00PM when he finally gave up trying to rest. The soft hum of the city waking up outside the window barely registered as he got up, throwing on a shirt and jeans. He paced the room for a few minutes, debating whether this was the right thing to do, but his feet moved on their own. Before he knew it, Ethan was standing in front of Sophia's door on the floor below. His hand hovered over the doorbell for a moment. What was he going to say . But the pull was too strong. He pressed the button, and after a few beats, the door opened. To his surprise, it wasn't Sophia who stood on the other side but Jacob. The man looked confused for a moment, his brows furrowing as he re

  • DEAR EX WIFE, YOU WERE NEVER A CHAPTER    CHAPTER 39

“Not that serious?” Ethan's voice came out low, cold, almost dangerous. His fists clenched at his sides, the weight of Sarian's words sinking into him like a knife . “ She saved your life, Sarian. And you ….. you trashed it like it meant nothing?”Sarian rolled her eyes, that infuriating smirk playing at the corner of her lips . She has always been this way careless, selfish , cruel and utterly incapable of seeing beyond her own needs . Ethan couldn't help but think how wrong he had been about her all those years ago.“ Spare me the lecture, Ethan,” she shot back, her voice dripping with disdain. “ You think you're some kind of hero, don't you? Running to her defence like she's some martyr ? She came between us , she's not innocent. None of us are.”His jaw tightened as he took a step closer, anger coursing him through. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Sophia had given up her blood to save Sarian's life, and this was how she repaid her back? With mockery and disdain? But before

As they entered the apartment, the soft hum of the elevator still lingered in the background. Elena offered a quiet goodnight before retreating to her room, leaving Sophia and Jacob alone in the living room. Sophia stood by the window, gazing out at the city lights, her mind replaying the events from the evening. She didn't want to talk about it , not now , not yet. The weight of everything with Sarian, and even Ethan, felt too heavy to carry at this moment.Jacob approached her gently, his presence calm and reassuring. He placed a hand on her shoulder, his touch warm . “ You don't have to say anything,” he murmured softly, as if sensing her need for silence.Sophia turned to face him, her eyes meeting his soft vulnerability. “ Thank you, Jay,” she whispered. “For always being there. For Raven, for myself….”Before he could respond, she leaned in , kissing him . What began a soft kiss quickly turn more intense, her hands finding their way to his chest , pulling him closer . He respo

Sophia slowly stood, her heart thudding in her chest . She had prepared herself for this moment, Ethan being reintroduced into her professional life, but nothing to quite compare to the reality of standing in front of him once more.Jacob, sensing the shift of energy, stood beside her but remained silent. His eyes flickered between Sophia and Ethan, though he was unaware of the deeper history between them.“ Ethan,” Mrs.Blackwood continued, motioning toward him , “ this is Sophia, the creative genius behind the designs we've been so excited about. Tasha, Ethan is one of our biggest investors for the project.” Ethan's expression was composed, his eyes flickering with something Sophia couldn't quite place . His hand extended toward her , and she hesitated only briefly before taking it.“ Nice to meet you,” Ethan said, his voice deep and steady.Sophia met his gaze evenly . “ Likewise,” she responded, her voice calm though her thoughts were racing.Their handshake lingered a moment to

Ethan hesitated for a fraction of a second before taking her hand . His touch was familiar, but the circumstances couldn't have been more different. “ Sophia,” he replied, his voice low , his eyes searching hers for something she wasn't ready tomorrow give .Sarian, standing beside Ethan with a smug expression, wasted no time inserting herself into the conversation. “ Oh Sophia, how lovely to see you again,” she said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “ I didn't realise you would be here tonight.”Sophia returned the smile, though hers was far more genuine . “ Likewise, Sarian. It's been…a while.”The tension between the four of them was palpable. Sarian squeezed Ethan's arm tighter, as if staking her claim, while Ethan remained silent, his gaze flickering between Sophia and Sarian.“ Well,” Mrs. Blackwood continued, oblivious to the undercurrents, “ I'm sure two of you will have plenty to discuss over the course of the evening. I'll leave you to it. There are some other gues
