Chapter 6 - Eva Is In Danger!

Eva's POV:

"Okay. You know the person whom you marry will be the luckiest." I said to Andrew as I looked at the dishes on my dining table.

"Yeah, I know. Stop buttering me up. Cooking is done." Andrew spoke.

But I wasn’t buttering him up. It was true. Andrew was caring and a very capable boy.

He helped me to cook so many dishes. He cut the vegetables, processed the meat, washed them, boiled pasta, made tomato purée, made chicken stew. I cooked the pasta, mushroom, bread, pork chops.

We both did the cooking, but he prepared all the ingredients.

Being the elder brother of two little sisters, Andrew had to take care of his little siblings. According to him, he raised his younger sister who was seven years old. From cooking to changing diapers, he could do all. Valerie and Andrew were my closest friends. They came running whenever I was in need of help. I also tried to help as much as I could. We were like family.

"Let's eat," I said setting two plates on the dining table.

"The pasta is good." Andrew spoke taking a big forkful of pasta.

I nodded. After eating, I took my medicine that's when Andrew said, "Are you going to move near the University or stay here?"

"No, I don't plan on moving anywhere. I want to continue the restaurant."

"How your body is healing?" He asked.

"It's healing too slowly."

We ate and talked for some more. Andrew left my home.

And honestly, I was feeling a lot better after eating this hearty meal, a lot more energized.

The next day,

I was feeling better. I was able to go to the university and attend the classes for which I was thankful to God. I searched Uber app for a taxi, but none was available in this area right now.

I sighed. I took out my earphone and connected it to my phone.

Putting the ear tips in both of my ears, I started to walk slowly. My body wasn’t well enough to walk such a big distance.

I was walking for a few minutes. All of a sudden, holding my wrist, someone yanked me hard to the side. My body collapsed on the ground, but it didn’t hurt much.

My eyes widened as I saw a huge truck being driven through the road where I was walking on even a few nanoseconds earlier.

Covering my mouth with both of my palms, I gasped.

The truck was running at a maddening speed. And what struck me was, the car didn’t have any number plate or anything.

My heart was thumping erratically. Did I just narrowly escape death?

"Are you okay?"

I was brought back to present time hearing a male voice. A boy was frowning at me with concern.

"D-did you j-just-" I stuttered. My palms were sweaty and I felt a bit suffocated.

The truck would surely run over me, if I hadn’t been retreated from there.

"Yeah. I pulled you away. Goodness! You are pale. Can you get up or you need help?" He asked stretching his hand to me.

For this, I was grateful. When I took his hand, my fingers were shaking.

I was so scared that I let a stranger touch me and help me to get up.

"T-Thank you. It was so kind of you." I mumbled. My feet were wobbling.

"No mention. But are you really okay? Can you go home? You are still shaking. Do you want me to call a taxi or want to rest here for a while?" He said pointing towards the small café.

"I think I would like to sit here. Thank you." I forced a smile.

He still insisted on sending me inside the cafe. Sitting inside the cafe, I ordered mineral water from the waiter. The young waitress gave me a strange look after hearing my order. People rarely ordered water here.

After drinking a few sips, I felt a lot better. The boy sat on the chair opposite of me.

"I know that I am a stranger. I don't have any ill intention and don't want to bother you either. But I think the truck deliberately tried to hit you, it didn’t even have any number plate. You should go to the police station." He spoke.

He was right. I should.

"I will go. I am really sorry for wasting your time. And again grateful. Hadn’t you saved me, I would have been hit by the truck." I spoke sincerely.

"It's okay. No need to thank me repeatedly. Are really okay? Can you go home alone?" He queried. I nodded.

"Okay. Bye then. I am Eliot by the way." He smiled. He might be same aged as me or a few years older. But when he smiled, he looked like a highschooler. The sides of his face curved beautifully into dimples.

"I am Evangeline." I smiled back.

"Okay, then. Get home safely, Evangeline." Saying, he put his goggles on and walked out.

Why would someone try to kill me intentionally? It was certain that the car was targeting me, it wasn’t a mere Incident.

Misfortune wasn’t leaving me alone.

I needed to get home first, I could go to the police station with Andrew later.

Fortunately, I found an Uber taxi this time; through which, I reached home.

I was still on medication. So, I got freshened up real quick and ate my lunch. Thanks to Andrew, my refrigerator was fully stacked.

I heated some chicken vegetable rice and ate it. Then I lay on the bed to take a nap. The doctor told me to take a lot of rest.

Theodore's POV:

I was pacing inside my office cabin, thinking about my human mate.

Then I called Gilly.

"Hello, Gilly? Where are you? Have you done the work? Is the girl finished?" I asked.

"Sorry, alpha. I tried but couldn’t kill her. I tried to hit her with a truck but someone saved her."

"Why did you try to kill her this way! You should kill her when she is alone." I spat.

"Useless! Don't tell me that now police is on your tail?" I hissed in anger.

"No, alpha. Nobody saw my face, and the truck didn’t have any number plate. I hired it from a renting shop unanimously. Please give me a bit more time. By today midnight, it would be done." Gilly said.

"Gilly, remember, this is your only chance." I cut the call.

I badly wanted that human girl to die. But as Gilly failed once, I couldn’t rest assured that he would be able to kill her tonight.

Besides, I didn’t want any complications. If he failed again or worse got caught by someone else, it would be a huge problem. It was certain that Gilly would be able to save himself against anyone by attacking them. But if that event got exposed that Gilly killed or tried to kill a human girl on my order, both of us would be in trouble.

It was a ground rule in the werewolf world that no werewolf would attack any human without prior instigation or proper reason. It was the same for the alpha too.

As night fell, I decided to go to her place to check on Gilly. It was a sensitive matter, I didn’t want any war between human and werewolf just because of his stupidity. Neither I wanted my pack to go against me.

But what to do? Would my wolf be able to remain calm sensing that our mate was going to die? What if Edward tried to come out and save her? I needed to fix that, even for a short period of time.

I headed to my room and unlocked my safe. Taking out the bottle of blue poison potion, I drank a few sips of that liquid.

I contorted my face. It was extremely bitter.

My body was shaking. My wolf, Edward growled.

You can't lock me up! Can't lock me up!

The veins on my forehead, neck, arms popped out. My eyes were burning. My whole body was paining. These were instant reactions of the potion.

But slowly the yelling faded and my body went back to normal. Edward was finally locked.

Whenever the wolf senses that he is going to be locked up, he tries to break free, rebelling against the human body. This is why not any werewolf could drink this potion. This potion was just for Alphas and betas, who were strong enough to withstand the painful reaction.

Even weak werewolves may die after drinking this.

Blue poison potion was a very strong potion to control our wolf selves. A sip of this drink could keep our wolves inactive. This potion was made by my mother. She was a famous witch who could do many magics. I inherited the power of magic from her.

My plan was to keep Edward shut off until the girl died. Edward wouldn’t be able to appear within a few days. I exited the pack house and headed to the garage. Starting my car, I drove to her place.

It was 12.3p am. It was past midnight.

Stopping the car in front of her building, I headed inside.

Something was wrong.

Something was definitely wrong in my body. My legs worked on their own; climbing through the stairs in a lightning speed, I stood before her apartment.

Her apartment door was opened and I entered inside. There was a faint ache on the left side of my chest all of a sudden. Ignoring the dull ache, I headed to her room.

And the sight I saw, it was nothing like I expected. A deep, loud growl escaped from my mouth. Scalding rage burned my skin, boiling my blood.

I groaned in excruciating pain, as my wolf Edward came out, in his true form. The clothes ripped from my body and fell on the floor.

Casting a murderous glance inside the room, my wolf launched inside, pounced on his prey.
