Chapter Three:

The darkness didn’t bring peace. Instead, the phantom voice from my nightmares echoed louder than ever, vibrating against the very bones of my skull like a distant, frantic warning. _“Wake up, Layla... you’re running out of time...”_

A sharp, stabbing ache in my chest dragged me back to consciousness. I didn’t open my eyes immediately. My body felt incredibly heavy, as if lead had been poured directly into my veins, and my throat was completely parched. I was lying in my own bed, back in the cramped, windowless basement room that smelled of damp concrete, old dust, and my own broken dreams.

Before I could even muster the strength to sit up, the sound of hushed, urgent voices speaking outside my door made me freeze. It was my father and Hannah.

"Why did she faint like that, Dad? Has she actually been taking her meds?" Hannah demanded angrily, her footsteps pacing sharply on the floorboards above my ceiling.

"The pack shaman said her core temperature was boiling when she collapsed! Dad, if the legendary tower inside her bloodline awakens—if the ancient power inside her wakes up—I’ll never be able to remain the pack heir! The High Council will find out what she really is!"

"I've had the omegas watch her closely," my father’s cold, calculated voice replied, dripping with an icy detachment that made my blood turn to frost. "She's been taking the supplements every single morning for eighteen years, without fail. There's no way she could have skipped a dose. But if the poison laced into those daily supplements can no longer keep her wolf suppressed..."

"Then what, Dad?" Hannah whispered, her voice trembling with dark anticipation. "What do we do if she shifts?"

"Then we will just have to kill her," Alpha Elliot stated flatly, as if he were discussing a piece of defective livestock rather than his firstborn daughter. "She knows too much, and she’s becoming an active liability. She ruined your birthday gala tonight; we cannot risk the truth of her bloodline getting out to the High Council."

A cold sweat broke out across my skin, and my jaw clenched in absolute horror. Tears silently tracked down my temples into my hair as the puzzle pieces of my entire miserable life violently slammed into place.

I wasn’t a genetic glitch. I wasn’t naturally wolfless or born weak. My own father the man I had spent eighteen years desperately trying to please, the man whose approval I had begged for while scrubbing his floors had been systematically poisoning me every single morning. The bitter, metallic aftertaste of the amber bottle wasn’t a vitamin. It was a chemical cage designed to murder my inner wolf, make me a pack pariah, and keep me helpless. And now, they were plotting my murder.

"That bitch ruined my birthday," Hannah snarled. "Dad, what do we do now? She knows too much."

I heard the rustle of a coat, followed by the distinct sound of my father dialing a number on his phone. "Hello," my father spoke into the receiver, his tone absolute and dead. "This is Alpha Elliot. I have a high-priority cleanup contract. A dangerous rogue has infiltrated the lower estate. Eliminate the target immediately and dispose of the body. I’m sending the tracking coordinates to your unit now."

He hung up the phone. "The Ironclaw border mercenaries are already patrolling the valley ridge. They’ll handle her before sunrise. Go back to your guests, Hannah. The problem is being erase

The sheer, primal terror that flooded my system burned away the heavy lethargy in my limbs. Panic exploded in my chest, but beneath the fear, a tiny, buried spark of raw survival instinct suddenly flared to life. They were going to kill me tonight. My own family had signed my execution order.

The moment their heavy footsteps faded down the upper hallway, I scrambled out of bed. I didn’t pack a bag, and I didn’t grab a jacket. Clad only in my thin nightshirt and bare feet, I crept toward the small, rectangular basement window that led out to the dark garden well. Gritting my teeth against the scraping pain, I hauled my body through the narrow gap, tumbling out onto the cold, muddy earth of the estate’s outer perimeter.

The midnight air bit sharply into my bare skin, and the rain began to fall, but I didn’t care. I didn’t look back at the grand, glittering mansion where the music of Hannah’s gala was still echoing. Turning my face toward the jagged, black silhouette of the northern mountains, I broke into a frantic, blind sprint, running directly into the dark, freezing woods to flee my home forever.

  • DESTINED MATE    The moon mirror

Chapter Eleven: The door to Victor’s room slammed shut and the wards flared to life. Silver light ran across the wood, sealing us in. Then he collapsed. "Victor!" I caught him before his head hit the floor. He was heavy. So much heavier than he looked. His body was burning up through his shirt, and the black veins from the Moon Mirror shard were crawling up his neck, toward his heart. "Get... off me," he gritted out, trying to push me away. His hazel eyes were clouded with pain. "The curse... it’s contagious if you touch it too long." "I don’t care," I snapped, and dragged him to the bed. "ZOE!" She burst in 2 seconds later, already holding bandages and a silver dagger. "Alpha, the healers said—" "The healers can’t help," Victor cut her off. Blood was at the corner of his mouth. "It’s old magic. Priest magic. Only the Moon Mirror can stop it." I pressed both hands to his chest. White light poured out of me, the same light that broke the dual bond. It was warm. It was mine.

  • DESTINED MATE    The Alpha King's Claim

*Chapter Nine: The courtyard was silent. Only the sound of rain hitting stone and three people breathing. Victor was on one knee, black blood still dripping from the wound where the shard had been. Brandon was slumped against a pillar, staring at his hands like he didn’t recognize them. The tug between us was gone. I broke it.Hannah was screaming, clutching the broken pieces of the Moon Mirror. "You ruined it! The curse was supposed to kill one of them!" Alpha Elliot raised his sword. "Then we kill her the old way."Before he could move, Victor stood. Slowly. Painfully. But he stood. His molten gold eyes weren’t on his uncle. They weren’t on Hannah. They were on me.He walked through the blood and smoke until he was right in front of me. Rain ran down his face. He looked wrecked. Cursed. And still the most dangerous man in the room."Enough," Victor said. His voice shook the walls. "This ends now."He turned to the 13 packs watching from the gates. To his own warriors.

  • DESTINED MATE    Two Alphas, One Claim

*Chapter Eight: Victor’s blood was warm on my hands. The Moon Mirror shard was buried in his side, black smoke crawling up his veins like veins of poison.“Victor! Stay with me!” I pressed my hands to the wound. White light poured from my palms, but it hissed and died the second it touched the curse. “Don’t… waste it on me,” he gritted out. His hazel eyes were almost gone, swallowed by gold and pain. “Hannah… wants you to choose.”Across the courtyard, Hannah was laughing. “That’s right, sister. Pick. The fated mate who’s dying for you, or the other bond who’s about to die for you.”Brandon was still on the ground, two rogues holding him down. Our weak bond pulsed — terrified, desperate. If he died, the backlash would kill me. And if I died, Victor would break.“Let him go!” I screamed.“Make me,” one of the rogues sneered.Victor moved. Even bleeding, even cursed, he was still the Alpha King. He ripped the shard out of his own side with a roar and threw it. It sliced through th

  • DESTINED MATE    The Curse Claims Blood*

Chapter Seven: The white light died down, and smoke hung in the air.The three rogues who lunged at me were on the ground, unconscious. Their fur was singed from my wolf’s power. Around the courtyard, every Ironclaw warrior was staring at me like I was a ghost.I wasn’t wolfless anymore. “Layla,” Victor’s voice was rough. He was still on his knees 10 meters away, but the Moon Mirror shard in Hannah’s hand was glowing brighter. Black tendrils were being ripped from his chest again.“Enough,” Hannah laughed, high and cruel. “The little trash dog has tricks. But can she save her mate?”Alpha Elliot stepped forward, his eyes full of disgust. “That’s the Priest blood. Kill her before she fully awakens, or all 13 packs are dead.”Two more executioners broke from the line and charged me. But this time I didn’t freeze. My white wolf howled in my head. I raised my hand without thinking. Another pulse of white light shot out and slammed them into the mansion wall. The stone cracked.Victor

  • DESTINED MATE    The Siege of Ironclaw

Chapter Six: The high-pitched wail of the border sirens ripped through the mansion, shattering the fragile peace of the night. It wasn't the standard warning for a minor perimeter breach; this was the continuous, deafening alarm reserved for an all-out invasion."They're early," Victor snarled. The hazel in his eyes vanished instantly, completely swallowed by a terrifying, molten gold as his inner wolf, Saber, pushed to the surface. The temperature in the bedroom plummeted, heavy with the suffocating weight of his Alpha aura. The sheer pressure of his anger made the glass windowpanes rattle violently in their frames."Victor, wait!" I cried, reaching out to grab his arm as he spun toward the door. The moment my fingers brushed against his bare forearm, that familiar, electric shockwave of warmth surged up my arm and into his skin. The violent, golden fire in his eyes fractured for a split second, softening back into hazel as he looked down at me. His large, calloused hand came up to

  • DESTINED MATE    The Doomsday Awakening*

Chapter Five: When the darkness finally receded, the freezing woods were gone.I woke up inside a lavish, warm bedroom, lying in an incredibly plush canopy bed that smelled faintly of expensive cedar and crisp winter mint. A fire crackled warmly in a grand stone hearth across the room. Sitting in a velvet chair beside the bed was a beautiful she-wolf with sharp silver eyes, who smiled softly when she saw me stir."Oh, thank goodness, you're finally awake," she said gently, handing me a warm cup of broth. "I'm Zoe, Alpha Victor's sister. You're safe here in the Ironclaw mansion, Layla. My brother brought you in himself, and he's been beside himself making sure your feet healed properly."Despite Victor's terrifying reputation as a cold-blooded killer, he treated me with a shocking, quiet gentleness over the next few weeks. He provided me with stunning, expensive clothes and, to keep me protected and hidden from my father's reach, he enrolled me in the local pack college under his pers
