FORTY - SIX

Almost everyone was knocked out by the next morning, while Starr was up and ready for work. She had been dressed in a black leather skirt, a sky blue chiffon shirt tucked into it. She had been down, trying to get a cup of coffee before she went to work. She had bumped into Valentine in her kitchen, he had been holding a mug of tea close to his lips. She had been doing fine ignoring him, but his presence and the deafening silence between them, made her break out. “Do I still scare you?” she had suddenly asked.

Valentine was taking a sip from his tea, when her question had come through. He choked on his drink, as the drink came flying out in reply. He wasn’t expecting her to say a single word to him at all, so hearing her voice was really sudden to him. “Huh?” he had asked in reply.
