Jerald’s POV

The file slammed against the table barely a second after I had gotten up, my hand ran across my ruffled hair, my eyes gazed at the infinity pool attached to the balcony which I was trying so hard not to dive in because I still had work to do.

“You fucking slept with a nobody, do you know what exactly that means? The public will be keen to know about this, do you know how much I had to pay to get this off your back?”

My hands wrapped around the coffee cup which I brought to my lip after the machine had dinged.

Funny enough, I was thinking it would be one of those numerous nights where I will get the pleasure and take her off my mind, but somehow it was being so difficult, the way she had clung onto me, writhing underneath me while I slipped into her, her fingers dug so deep into my back, and that same bulge which had put me in the same problem still stood high.

“This isn't you.” Max, my friend said, pointing to the bulge in my trousers. “What has gotten into you?”

“Why are you this tense? It was just a night.”

“ A good one I suppose, seeing how you still have that bulge in your trousers.”

“ It's normal, it's morning wood, you know about that.”

His hands palmed over his face before I asked. “Did you get the girl? Who she might be?”

“ How am I supposed to do that? We should be glad that somehow she wouldn't be able to get whoever it was she had a one night stand with, and now you want me to probe so she can be suspicious?”

“ She wouldn't be.”

“She might press charges that you raped her, what were you doing there in the first place?”

I plopped down into the seat, my hands tightened on the cup. “Wales.”

“Your kid brother, Wales?What's wrong?”

“I went there searching for him, I know I shouldn't have but I had to make sure everything was intact before we had the contract running.’’

“Are you certain about selling that software? I mean, it is practically going to make you a multimillionaire, but even at that, don't you think it will do more?”

“ I think I am making the right choice, Max.” I said, knowing fully well I was right.

I haven't told him about another that I hoped to build soon, and maybe that would be a better sample than the one I had already.

“You should stop fucking around. We can't afford a scandal at the moment.”

“It isn't like I had expected it. It was all to keep Wales in check, you know he has been off the grid recently and even his gf doesn't seem to be doing so much work, I wonder how she copes around him. I mean with him cheating all the time.”

“She might not know, and I think it will be better if I keep you in check instead, seeing how it seems you are so keen on rubbing the name of the company in mud. It was a first, Jerald, and it shouldn't happen again.” He warned sternly.

I muffled in a cackle at his tone before nodding to his words. He could be a worrywart when it wasn't even needed most times but he meant good so the least I could do was go along with it.

“ I have a busy day today, you should leave. I have to make the right choice, you know the intern who will be here soon.”

“Are you sure you don't need my help?”

I shook my head to his question. “ I can do this, I would like to do it myself as well.”

His eyes ran through my outfit. “With you dressed this way?”

“Yap, this way.”

“Your dick is dangling, you should head up and get dressed or you might end up frightening the girl.”

“Well, it isn't like there's much to see.”

The look on his face told me he wasn't having it anyway else, and left with no choice, I knew I had to change.

Placing the coffee cup on the marble glass which stood in the living room, I strutted across the room, slipping my leg into something proper before heading back.

“That's better. If you don't mind, I will send them up now.”

“Them?” I was left perplexed because I had been told it was just a person.

“Them.” He repeated, walking away.

My hands ran through my hair while I walked barefooted to the window, peering right outside the busy street.

A closer glance gave me the world I was trying everything to escape from, the one where I had to work hard enough to make myself seen.

“Good morning,” the voice greeted me and I held myself back from flipping my head over in that moment, wanting to believe I had conjured that up because there was no way that voice would have been hers, I had it imprinted in me already.

“Mr. Jerald?” It came through again, making me swirl my feet around, peering at her. I swallowed, last night racing in so fast that it had me clenching my fist.

What was the possibility that she was here for the job I had placed out there? It was difficult to believe, then was she here to blackmail me for what had happened last night?

“You are zoning out.” I gulped in, edging closer until I was just a step away from her.

“ I am Claire,” her tone coated like velvety ran across at me. “I am here in respect of the job vacancy. I know I don't look like it, but I am…”

“The best in your department.” I added before she could.

“ I asked for just the best in each department, so I know that.”

My hands folded underneath my chest, while I gazed at her, was this an act? Or could it be that she doesn't recognize me? Was she really here for the job or was it something else? It was difficult to fathom what it was.

A text to Max would have him racing down here just to have her removed but I didn't want that.

I needed to know why I was unable to get her out of my system, why my finger itched to run themselves along her hair, why all I wanted to do was make her moan and scream my name, why I wanted to do things I had never done to anyone else to her, why I was drawn to her.

“Well, I am good enough. I know you keep to time and I was here just in time, also…”

“Why should I hire you?” I asked, a finger went underneath my chin, watching her closely.

I listened to her as she rambled on and on, citing reasons why she would be the perfect fit even when she didn't need to. Her lilac fitted top sat over a black skirt which hugged her curves, and a black shoe to match. I forced down the lump with a swallow before saying.

“You are hired, Claire.”

Her face morphed into a smile which was the most beautiful one I had seen. “Really?” Her hands clapped while her eyes shimmered.

“Yes, you have a meeting to attend with me in the next twenty minutes and I hope you will do your best. This…” I pointed to the floor where we stood.

“Is the office, your cubicle is just beside my office. My bedroom is just above this floor and you aren't allowed to go above this floor unless I ask you to which I won't. Welcome to Maclina tech.”

  • Daddy's little princess    Start of their journey together

Claire's POV One last glance at the mirror had me swallowing my spittle. I wasn't going to have anyone walking me down the aisle, but that was fine by me. They were all assholes anyway. The man who had given birth to me and his brother had turned out to be assholes I could live without, but on days like this, I couldn't help but miss the woman who had given it all for me. The one who wouldn't be here. The door creaked open with Elena stepping in."Oh my," her eyes were wet with tears as she exhaled, taking in the sky-blue wedding gown I had on. One that was decorated with pearls and diamonds."I know that you were going to look exquisite in this, but not this gorgeous." She walked closer, wrapping me in a hug. "Oh my, my baby is getting married.""I'm already married," I whispered to her when she nodded. "Fine, fine, you are, but you never had a wedding, and a wedding is a massive criterion to the public, not that I care." She shook her head. "I am so glad you are doing this, gi

  • Daddy's little princess    Tips would do

Claire's POV Jerald drove as fast as he could down to the hospital while I kept praying that everything would be okay. Seeing her perfectly fine was going to be everything I could have wished for; at least it would help the thought that had besieged my mind recently. The car finally came to a stop, and when I got out, rushing through the lobby, Jerald had to remind me to slow my pace so he could keep up with me, as I was moving far too fast. I got to the elevator just in time before the door clasped shut, with Jerald sticking a leg in until we were in; a breath of air left my lungs when it clasped shut, making its way up. Eyes glanced at me, and I was going to take that as a result of what I had on and nothing else. When the elevator finally got to the top floor where she was being kept, we both stepped out. Sephon stood, face pale, and my heart sank. Has something gone wrong? I had come just as fast as I could. She stepped aside for us to walk through, not barring us like she

  • Daddy's little princess    Her cheerleader

Claire's POV I cackled, amused at the nerve she had to call me that. "An impersonator?" I let out an amused. "That's interesting." I whispered before slipping my fingers, which were covered in red gloves, into my purse, pulling out a slim folder, which I flipped open before placing it on the table. Hums filled the room; silent voices echoed at the name that was on it. Drandy holding shares registry. Stamped, certified, and verified."That is fake," Eldora countered, staring at everyone as she scoffed."You have always been known for being this way, and I thought you might have stopped. You show up here, dressed this way with fake papers, and you think you could make me look fake?"My face stayed blank. "Dress like what? A woman who owns 10 percent of shares in Drandy? One whose signature on any contract would determine its worth?""That is fake." Eldora insisted, staring at Lindsy, who sat watching. The air cracked with tension, sizzling through. "Eldora," my hands leaned agains

  • Daddy's little princess    Impersonator

Jerald's POV "Why would you even think I would be scared of you?" I planted a kiss on my wife's neck as I asked. I knew it would have been overwhelming for others, especially after what had happened last night, but what I saw was a woman who was making her enemies pay. "Because of last night?" She was helping me fix my tie. "I would never be scared of you, sweet." My head leaned against hers. "There's no way I would be; besides, every woman who is married to any of the Michaels has to be that tough to stay within the family." I explained it to her. "So you don't have an issue with that at all?"I drew in a breath. "I don't have an issue with that. If you killed someone, you should know you can always place a call across, and I will help you dig a grave for that body." She chuckled before nodding. "Does that make us the perfect couple?"I kissed her nose gently. "Yes, it does make us the best because we both have our hands tainted with blood, which isn't a bad thing.""I know you

  • Daddy's little princess    Oddly satisfying

Claire's POV "You are perfectly okay; your baby is in perfect condition." The doctor explained with a smile lacing his face. I let out a sigh at what I had just been told. At the same time, Jerald squeezed my hands before we got up. "Thank you." He let out a sigh of appreciation before walking out.I drew in breath, knowing everything was over. It was going to be okay. It had to be.Mother stood outside waiting with Elena, and they both stood up, gazing at us anticipating what the report was. "I'm okay; everything is perfect."Mother nodded. "That's perfect. It is the most marvelous news I could have gotten.""I have to leave with Jerald." My eyes strayed to the ICU where Kiara was being kept. Although it has taken hours, she had been brought out of the theater and was certified okay. A weight I had never known was there rolled off at the news. "You should be taking some rest." Elena muttered as she inched closer. "I will be fine. Why don't you go back with Mother and take that

  • Daddy's little princess    Orders to shoot

Claire's POV It had happened in the split of a second. Sephon had been busy trying to get the men off barely after letting Kiara go, while I sat trying to get myself out when she had stepped in to help. It had all happened so soon that I had lost count of how many times I had screamed, but I begged repeatedly for her to live. "Kiara," I yelled, hands around her while Jerald punched Henry repeatedly until he was half dead. Sephon, who had been alerted by my cries, flicked her head, her eyes raging at what she saw. "She..." I tried to explain, tears running down in torrents. "She saved me. She shouldn't have done so, but she did. She is always saving me; why would you do that?" I asked Kiara, who had a tiny smile on her face as life faded from her eyes. She had no obligations to do so."You...have...a child...in.... I...couldn't....let...you....lose...it again." She answered before her hands fell slack beside her.Sephon scooped her off me, the ground rumbling as she ran across, m
