THE LETTER

I closed the door as it banged, its echo leaving a hollow feeling.

My heart thudded erratically against my chest as I stared at the letter in my hands.

What exactly was inside? And who had sent it to me? Why?

Questions filled my head from different angles. I've heard of cases where girls receive an anonymous letter telling them lies and secretly kidnapping them if they happen to fall for the trap.

I held the envelope, which suddenly felt heavier than before.

But of course, how else was I supposed to know if I didn't open it?

I tore the letter open, and a white paper wrapped and tied with a blue silk ribbon sat inside the mail.

Clean. Untouched.

LEA was boldly written with their symbol at the side [an eagle stretched out, ready to fly].

No way. I whispered in my head. I hit my face twice to make sure it wasn't one of my numerous dreams.

But the letter still lay cold in my hands; my fingers tightened around it, and I did the only thing I could.

I laughed, but then it broke into something louder. I was screaming.

I fucking screamed because this was a miracle.

The letter read:

I fell slowly to the floor as tears streamed down my face in waves.

She still remembered and still cared even when she was gone. I could feel her presence.

Flashback

“Elena, why can't I go to the same school as Rachel? Their uniform is lovely, and I also like the school setting,” I pouted.

“Jordan! It's Mother, not Elena, and how many times do I have to tell you to stop talking while eating?" my father barked.

“She can call me whatever she likes, dear. Jordan?”

“Yes, Mom," I smiled.

“You will go to LEA when the time comes; it's a promise, ok? And then you and Rachel can always be together,” she said and drew me closer as she kissed my cheek, patting my head.

End of flashback

I wailed loudly as I fumbled to the floor, my tears a mixture of joy and sorrow.

Receiving a reminder of her supposed death was a harsh blow to my fragile heart. My legs trembled even as I walked to the couch to get a better hold of myself.

Hours later

I woke up as the sun hit my face, the sound of a car horn blaring loudly.

I must have dozed off from exhaustion.

I quickly jumped down from the bed as I rushed downstairs, and my father was back.

And so were Lillian and her followers.

“Oh my… it feels so good to be home, Lillian Love,” he smiled as they kissed each other. Lillian smiled like a perfect wife.

“Ohhh Jordan,” he said as he hugged me.

“You never grow, do you?” he teased.

“No, I never do, Dad," I smirked.

"Oh, of course, you know how short she is, darling. It's inherited,” she said to my hearing.

Unfortunately, my dad had passed me by on the way to the dining table. Tyler and Taylor surrounded him like birds.

They probably wanted to ask for their monthly allowance.

“Damn it, Lilian, you always seem to amaze me with your food,” he laughed.

“You know me, Monroe, always giving the best,” she laughed.

I scoffed as I walked to the kitchen. I could finally eat as I wanted.

Not for long, though.

Lillian strolled into the kitchen with a sly grin.

“I must say, good job, Jordan,” she smirked.

“Anything for you, sweet Mom," I smiled, and I brushed past her shoulder, leaving the kitchen as I walked to the dining room.

We were seated eating in the dining room, but my mind wasn't there. It kept going back to the letter burning a hole through my pocket.

I didn't know if I should tell Dad or not. I still couldn't run away even if I wanted to. I would get caught before I could say Jack.

“Jordan…

“Jordannnn…” I heard my name as I jerked out of my thoughts.

“Pfft… Pathetic,” Tyler scoffed silently.

“Jordan… What's going through your mind?” Lillian asked as she caressed my face, smiling.

I shook my head in amusement.

“Is something bothering you, dear sis?” Taylor asked with a smirk.

“No,” I whispered.

“C’mon, Jordeey… your mom and sisters care about you, can't you see that?” Dad said as he held Lillian's hand.

“I don't know what I would do without you, Liliian." He smiled, and the witch smiled in response.

I wanted to wipe that smile off her face so bad.

“I got mail!” I said.

Taylor and Tyler shared a glance and burst into laughter.

“Girlssss… keep it down,” Lillian barked.

They continued with their giggling, but Lillian knew something was off. She kept on pressuring me to speak.

Her eyes had a faint look.

“Who’s the mail from?” Dad asked.

At this point, the table went silent.

“LEA,” I smiled in triumph as I saw the look in Lillian's eyes.

"C'mooonnnn Jordannnn,” Taylor screamed in laughter.

“You don't know how to tell jokes, do you??” Lillian said, laughing, but I could see the fear in her eyes. Her hands betrayed the posture she was trying so hard to maintain.

“Silence!”

Dad's voice had always commanded silence.

“Let me see,” he asked, and I brought the mail out, still neat and clean.

The look on my stepsisters' faces faded.

They knew I wasn't lying.

“Oh dear, this is great news. Calls for a celebration,” Lillian said, her eyes flaring, but of course Father didn't notice that.

“Your mother had always remembered even the little things,” he whispered.

He missed her. I knew he did. Lillian rolled her eyes. “We can't possibly let Jordan go, darling,” she said, caressing his beard.

“Yes, Dad, she's doing better off with the tutor. Mr. James is a professional dad."

Taylor said, her breath hitching repeatedly.

Tyler just kept a blank face staring at me in silent shock. One never knew what she was thinking.

Lillian and her daughters kept arguing, trying to convince Dad I wasn't good enough to go.

"Dad, she can't, girls like her…

“Shut your fucking mouth, Taylor. I'm older than you guys, and I have a right to speak. Thank you.” I stood up, hitting the table.

“Sit down, Jordan,” Lillian tutted.

“Noo… I'm going to LEA, and no one's stopping me. You don't get to make the decisions. You're all…

“Enough!!” he yelled.

Once again the table was silent. Only our breaths were heard.

“I’ve made my decision.”

“And darling, remember…” Lillian tried to interrupt.

“She’s going."

  • Dangerous Obsession   CAMPS AND SECRETS II

Day 1 of camp–Never threaten your roommate with murder and never, ever leave a spot for someone else. Now, staring at the name taped to the cabin, I wasn't so sure anymore. I could turn back now, but I didn't want to.How it started?“Sir, I am not having this. I will not be sharing a room with... with... this... oh my God. This thing!!” Angela yelled, pointing at me.I scoffed. “Sir, she's too emotionally unstable and immature to stay in a room with me. Do you want me dead before the last day of the camp? I'd advise you change her immediately... Or I might as well murder someone,” I muttered.Angela laughed. “You say what?”“Miss–”“You heard me. I'll kill you,” I cocked my brow higher.“Miss Monroe, Miss Fernandez?” The manager tried to speak.“Where’s the teacher? The principal??” Angela screamed.“What’s happening here?” A voice called.“Oh great, Mr. Raphael. I do not understand why my room will be assigned to this thing.”“I am not a fucking thing,” I growled, going closer to he

The alarm blared through the room, bouncing off the walls. I groaned, reached over, and shut it off before sitting upright, staring at the ceiling as if something might suddenly fall.Anything.Maybe.My mind drifted back to the mornings when my mom would barge into my room and drag me out of bed—something I never liked. She used to bribe me with her soft, crispy cookies... at least until she replaced them with a splash of cold water every morning.A tear slipped from the corner of my eye.I missed my mother's arguments with Dad. Even though she was the wealthier one, she was the calmest storm I had ever known.Fierce, yet soft.Elena."Mum," I whispered, my voice breaking as tears threatened to spill from my eyes. Before they could, my phone buzzed.Replaying yesterday's scene in my head—Alex's expression after the call with his dad—I frowned.Sara: Bitch, come out now!Sara: Don't tell me you haven't had your bath.Sara: Jordan, look at the fucking time!!Shit.I jumped out of bed,

  • Dangerous Obsession   DETENTION

The bell rang for break time.It had been two days since my fight with Angela and Taylor plus the rest of the chaos that happened. I was done serving detention as I came out of the staff's office.“See you next time, Jordan,” the business teacher called.“There would be no next time,” I muttered. He smiled and shook his head.“Rich kids, they're always like that,” I heard the janitor whisper to him.I carried my books, locating my locker.“Hey there, pretty one.” I banged my locker closed, staring at James with lazy eyes. “Where do you always disappear to and then you come back thinking…” I paused and shook my head.He laughed, his hair slightly falling over his face as he bent down.He had changed his hairdo. “Rocking that new look, huh?” he pointed at the scratch Taylor had given me on my forehead.“Shut up,” I moaned while he laughed again. We walked down to the cafeteria.I could see Sara already seated at the A's table. Her face was not so good-looking, especially as she scrunche

  • Dangerous Obsession    THE AFTERMATH

“Damn, Jordan, wake up!” Sara's voice echoed in my room. “You have to see this. Why did you leave out details last night, bitch!!!” She jumped on my bed.“Whaaatt?” I grumbled sleepily, checking my alarm clock only to see it was just 7:35 a.m. Test results were coming out today and I needed rest from last night's event and all the chaos that happened.Test results! It echoed in my head and I opened my eyes. Those who didn't do well would be rewriting. What if I failed? I had to prepare in case–“Jordan!!!!” Sara yelled again.I had totally forgotten she was here. “The fight,” she deadpanned.“What fight?” I muttered in pretense, opening my eyes to the light rays entering my room.“Kevin and Alex’s. It’s all over the blog,” she laughed.I mumbled inaudible words and flumped back into my bed. “And then your kissing sceneee,” she danced around.“Wait, what??... Kissing scene? Where?” I stuttered.I was fully awake now, eyes opened wide and my brain at full alert.“In the car. Fuck, that

**ALEXANDER'S POV**I knew this was supposed to be fake, but seeing her there with Kevin had my blood rushing and my heart thudding rapidly. The noise of the entire event faded into silence.Jordan stood like she had been caught stealing her mother’s perfume, her hand still half-clasped in Kevin Lorenzo’s grip. She looked at me like I was the problem.I came as soon as Taylor called. Of course she ran to fetch me the second she saw them, saying Kevin was getting too comfortable with her. I know Kevin and what he’s capable of. The last time he got too close to a girl—She died.He never does anything without personal gain. I could see it in his eyes even now.Kevin dropped Jordan’s hand the second our eyes met. Smart. But not smart enough. Because I saw it—the way his fingers lingered, the way his eyes kept dragging back to her necklace, to her mouth, to places that weren’t supposed to be admired up close.“Alex,” Jordan started, her voice steady but with a slight hitch. She was rattle

  • Dangerous Obsession   FUNDRAISER II

“Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats as we begin the event.” The MC's voice boomed in the hall. Alaric had cornered me at an ice cream stand, which I was surprised they had at a fundraiser event. He was actually very nice, telling me all about Alexander when they were little. His falls and how he always stole cookies meant for the dog. “Jordan–” A cold voice cut through our laughs.“Heyy, the cold one,” Alistair smirked.I laughed wholeheartedly but Alexander's face remained stoic. “Loosen up a bit, kiddo.” Alaric raised his glass at him and left. Alistair followed afterwards.“Hey,” I quietly said, trying to ease the tension. “Everything alright?”“You’re supposed to be seated, not laughing around,” he deadpanned.“What the fuck is your issue?” I spat.We stood glaring at each other while people scrambled to their seats as the show began.“Jordan, Alex–” Voices echoed from a table, exactly what I needed, a front VIP table with the whole family of Monroe and Santiago.Great!

I replayed the scene countless times in my head. I lost my breath and didn't know when I rushed to hug my dad.Taylor had stormed out of the dining room angered, but obviously there was nothing she could do.Tyler had stared, and Lillian's eyes had shown fire, contrasting greatly with her smile.“E

Angela was in charge alongside some other girls I didn't know; they were Juniors."So we're beginning with spin the bottle." • Dangerous Obsession   CHAOS 1

The classroom froze. He hit the floor, but instead of showing off his anger, he chuckled — low and unsettling. ”What have you fucking done Jordan?” I muttered.Slowly, he stood up, brushing imaginary dust off his blazer. His blue eyes locked onto mine, calm… too calm.“You’ve got guts,” he murmu
