CHAPTER 10

CHARLENE'S POV

His hair was ruffled, making it appear even messier than usual. His eyes were slightly droopy with tiredness. His usually elegant appearance was replaced with a disheveled appearance.

And yet, despite how different he looked from the previous day, he still managed to capture my attention, leaving me in awe and captivated by his beauty. For a brief moment, I forgot everything that had happened earlier in the morning.

However, when I noticed his presence, Xavier's features contorted into anger, almost like those of an animal whose prey had caught its attention. As I looked back and forth between Xavier's enraged expression and his fuming body, I noticed how his shirt had become damp due to sweat.

Then it dawned on me. Xavier wasn't upset with me. He was mad because I was lying to him again. He was frustrated because I wouldn't allow him to stay beside me and help me through the danger that we were facing.
