Blood in the Woods

Fernando’s POV

I watched them through the small cracks on the front door, barely breathing as I tracked the movement of the agents.

The trees concealed them well, but not well enough for someone like me.

I knew the woods. I knew the mansion. And most of all, I knew how the minds of men like Andrew worked.

Based on Marlo’s explanation, he was the leader of those agents of fools and if there was one thing I was good at, that was gaining a upper hand against proud men.

Ashley winced as she leaned against a nearby wall. Her side was soaked with blood, and every breath she took looked like it cost her something vital.

Still, she didn’t complain. I was impressed. I liked that about her.

Michael, on the other hand, was fidgeting.

"You’re going to take her out the front," I said, my voice cold and unwavering.

Michael blinked.

"What? Are you insane? They’ll spot us the moment we step onto the lawn."

"That’s the point."

He narrowed his eyes.

"You want us to be bait?"

I tilted my head.

"I

Fernando’s POV It had been infuriatingly long hours since I saw Michael. My eyes fluttered open to the blinding white lights of the hospital ceiling. I blinked a few times, adjusting to the sterile glow and the annoying beeping of a heart monitor beside me. A slow breath expanded in my lungs, sharp and hollow like something was missing inside me. I hated this feeling—this sense of being restrained, confined, and completely out of control. I turned my head to the left. The wide windows offered no comfort, only a view of the empty courtyard drenched in silence. A nurse passed by the door, murmuring something into her earpiece. I didn’t like hospitals. Never had. The walls always felt like they were closing in. But this room, this private room, felt like a prison. "You're awake," a deep voice said. I turned to the right. My doctor, a tall man in a slate-blue coat, stepped closer. He looked calm, calculating, and always with that damn clipboard in hand. I didn’t like him.

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   Shared Blood

Michael's POV Henry's tiny arms clung to me like I was the last thing holding his world together. His sobs shook his entire body, and each one pierced straight through my chest like needles. “Why did he say that?” he choked out between hiccupping cries. “Why did dad say that? Did I do something wrong?” I held him tighter, cradling the back of his head, trying to keep my voice steady for his sake. “No, Henry. No, baby boy. You didn’t do anything wrong. None of this is your fault.” I sat down slowly on the edge of the velvet couch in hospital suite, pulling Henry onto my lap. My fingers combed gently through his soft, dark curls. I could feel how shaken he was—hell, I could feel how shaken I was. But I had to stay strong. For him. “Then why would he say that?” Henry whispered again, looking up at me with his tear-streaked cheeks and quivering lips. “He said it like he meant it.” I kissed the top of his head. “Because he doesn’t remember, Henry. He’s confused right now. Someti

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   A Forgotten Fire

Michael’s POV I didn’t think I would hear his voice again. Not today, not like this. At the sound of his voice, we froze. The room stilled, as if time itself had stopped spinning. Henry’s eyes widened. “D-Dad?” I turned toward the bed slowly, my stomach flipping as I stared at the man who, minutes ago, was lying comatose in a sea of wires and beeping machines. Fernando was awake. His eyes were open, blinking sluggishly but clea and focused. His jaw clenched as he scanned the room, then grimaced at the overhead light as if it offended him. Anabelle ran towards the door. “I’ll get the doctor!” Henry didn’t wait for permission. He launched himself forward, arms outstretched like a missile of love and disbelief. “You’re awake! Daddy, you’re really awake!” Fernando looked at him as one might a stranger at the door. His arms remained limp by his side. His expression was wrong, that warmth gone. The spark of affection I had seen countless times between Fernando and Henry w

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Man Who Woke the Storm

Michael’s POV I held Henry tighter to my chest, his small frame trembling against mine like a leaf caught in a storm. His fingers dug into the fabric of my shirt, and his face was hidden, buried into my shoulder like he could disappear if he pressed hard enough. I could feel his breath, short and uneven, each inhale an effort not to fall apart. And I wasn’t doing much better. The hospital room smelled like antiseptic and something heavier. Something lifeless. A cruel echo of hope hanging by a thread. Fernando’s room was properly lit, machines blinking softly beside him, their mechanical rhythms an eerie lullaby. I hadn’t expected the room to be empty, but I never expected them to be here especially at this time. Marlo amd Anabelle. Their eyes narrowed as they looked at me then Henry. I could see the disappointment in Marlo’s eyes because Henry being here with me right now only meant his men had failed to take Henry from school. They stood on either side of Fernando’s hospi

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   A Throne Without a Crown

Marlo’s POV The scent of antiseptic burned faintly in my nose as I pushed open the door to Fernando’s hospital room. The hallway behind me was as silent as a mausoleum. Anabelle followed closely, the soft clack of her heels barely breaking the oppressive hush that weighed on this part of the hospital reserved for the highest-paying men in the city. They had moved him—upgraded him, as the nurse proudly said when I checked in. Fernando now lay in a private suite far away from the regular patients, as if walls and white sheets could protect him from the consequences of a life built on power and blood. He looked smaller in that hospital bed. Strange, how someone who once made entire boardrooms tremble with a single word could now lie unmoving, vulnerable and silent. Wires tangled around his arms like vines reclaiming a dying tree. The steady beep of machines was the only sign he still had a grip on life.I walked slowly toward him, trying not to let my emotions show. But it burned. Da

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Sound of the bell

Michael’s POV I was already feeling it—that slow, lazy heaviness creeping into my limbs, the kind that only came from sitting in one spot too long. My fingers lay limp on the steering wheel, the crust of my now-cold pizza sitting in the passenger seat like an afterthought. Today had not gone anyway like how I planned. I wasn’t complaining, I would do this and more if it meant keeping Henry safe, but I hadn't expected to spend the entire day in my car.I sighed, letting my head fall back against the headrest. The late afternoon sun filtered through the windshield, warming the car’s interior just enough to lull me into the edges of a nap.Richmond Elementary stood quiet and still ahead of me, its red-brick structure tinted gold by the sun. Parents were beginning to crowd at the gates, the murmurs of soft conversations and occasional laughter floating through the air. But I couldn’t bring myself to care.I was tired, dead tired. It had been numerous long hours since I parked outside
