When I was finally ready, I slammed that skylight open, having the glass smash as I did it and I aimed the gun inside the building and started shooting. Mostly at the ones that weren’t chained and the ones that were trying to get out of the light. Suddenly, the windows on the side of the building were being smashed and werewolves were jumping into the building. I was shooting everything that was running in all different directions, watching them turn to blood and ooze and the humans were screaming and trying to get away from the danger. But the vampires were running for the humans. Obviously trying to use them as protection, but they were killed before they made it to the humans. The werewolves inside the warehouse were getting the ones that were running out of range of me, but there were another four set up around the top of the building that had smashed windows and were also shooting their weapons at the vampires. We got back to the pack and the omega already had dinner waiting. But no one was allowed to eat now that Lucas was back in the pack. They had to wait for him. So we were shown to the dining room and I was surprised that there were several tables set up in the dining room, all of them filled with people and one long table at the top of the room where Lucas sat and I sat next to him. I know that Lucas was hesitant about what I had just said, but it was the only way to stop this war. We needed to cut it off at the top and hopefully, the rest will disband. But if they don’t, it won’t be hard to find them when they have no leader telling them what to do. They will get sloppy. They will get reckless, and that will definitely work in our favor. We were woken the next morning by someone banging on the bedroom window, so Lucas got up and made sure the covers were completely covering me, He put on a pair of shorts and opened the curtain and the window to see Beta David standing there. “I’m sorry Alpha. I’ve been trying to mind link you all morning.” David said. “Yeah. I was ignoring you for a reason.” Lucas said. “Please? I called you with a list of vampire nests last night. It’s already 9am.” David said. “Shit. I didn’t realize it was that late. We’ll get ready and meet you at the packhouse. Can you tell the cook to make sure that they have breakfast ready for the both of us?” Lucas asked. “Sure.” David said. Lucas and I went to have a shower and we got dressed and headed to the packhouse straight away. Jason was brought to the packhouse and we explained the situation to him and he was more than willing to try for a leadership role in this new mission that we were planning. Lucas and I took him down to the training field and there were a group of warriors already waiting there. We gave them a task to do and we needed to see if Jason could get them out of it with leadership skills. They took off to the woods where a whole scene was set up and where they would be attacked by other wolves waiting for them, ready to attack. They needed to follow the path, ward off the attacks and come up with new and inventive ways of doing it. This was Jason’s big test and we stayed back at the training field waiting for them. I spent the rest of the day putting together the appropriate teams to go after each nest. After looking at what David did, I could see that he had just thown teams together. And that was going to get them all killed. We needed a leader, a second in command and strong warriors to fight these battles. But some of the people that he had in these teams were definitely going to get themselves killed. I wasn’t sending them at all. They could stay back with the larger group of warriors and protect the pack. They had a better chance of survival that way. I made it very clear that this wasn’t a suicide mission and I wasn’t sending people off to their deaths by going after these nests. The objective was to kill the vampires and come home. That was it. I was starting to wonder how the hell he got the position of Beta in the first place. He definitely didn’t show me why he should be Beta. Except for his loyalty towards Lucas. Aria, Jason and I all got up from the table and followed them outside. Lucas had thrown David down the stairs and he was standing over him on the lawn out the front of the packhouse, giving him one hell of a beating. “The only reason you are my Beta is because you were born into the role. I could very easily give it to someone else but I believed that you deserved a fucking chance. I don’t believe that anymore. I believe that you need to prove to me that you deserve to be Beta, otherwise you won’t be anymore. I can think of several good men that I can put in your position. So don’t think you are irreplaceable, because you’re not. Now get the fuck out of my face.” Lucas yelled, letting go of David’s shirt. David scurried to his feet and he left the packhouse and Lucas turned around to see the rest of us standing on the veranda. “You shouldn’t have done that. I can take care of myself.” I said. “I know you can. But I’ve been getting sick of his attitude for a while.” Lucas said.
