Stacy POV

After I have fed myself with a bowl of instant ramen, I return to do the remaining exercises. A few minutes onwards, I hand it in to June. As she checks and corrects the mistakes I did, my mom appears and put a box of chocolate cookies and a cup of milk on the table. It seems that she is in a good mood as she impulsively appears with the treats. “Here are the treats, Ms. Bentley. Please help yourself to enjoy,” She says as the smile shows on her beautiful face.

“Thank you, Ms. Barfield. I’m sorry for bothering you, anyway,” June utters while delaying her correction activity.

The woman in her fifties shakes her head a bit as she stares at me for a second. She then claims, “No, it’s not, Ms. It’s a pleasure to treat you with snacks. In fact, my beloved daughter also loves eating. You can actually notice that she gets puffier.”

While stating the fact, my mom cups my cheeks playfully. It is not a big deal for me since I’m not really slim. Even, in the previous days, Sam teases me about my weight. Nevertheless, this time, I feel so embarrassed. I can also feel that my cheeks are blushing, indicating that I’m not confident about my body. Therefore, I complain with irritated tone, “Stop it, Mom! Being puffier is just an accidental stuff for me.”

Listening to my tone, my mom widens her eyes. I can sense that she is shocked. Maybe, it’s the first time for me to complain about her teasing my body weight. However, June, with her brightening smile, doesn’t feel bothered. It seems that she is fine although my body becomes as fat as a guinea pig. Rather than adding a comment about my appearance, she chooses to continue her correction towards my work.

At the same moment, my mom utters an unexpected invitation to her, “Would you like to have a dinner with us, Ms. Bentley? You can consider it as a mingling time with our family since you date my beloved Sam.”

I then stare at my mom with a train of thoughts running in my mind. At the first stage, I assume that mom doesn’t really like the fact that Sam dates June, my private teacher who is just a student of Business Management Faculty in Riverdale University. However, after looking at the recent invitation coming out from her mouth, it seems that she is fine if my brother ends up with June. Another proof that really changes my previous assumption is how she nicely treats June although serving food may sound more like formalities to a guest.

“Am I not bothering your family time, Ma’am? I’m afraid if I’ll be too comfy here. Maybe, I may forget to return to my place.” June tries to make sure if she is really welcomed. She is always cautious when it comes to an invitation or other occasions.

“Nope. Obviously, not. I invite you for dinner because I’d like to know you better, including figuring out why my beloved son is so head over heels to you.” Mom responds in her joyful tune. Her eyes lit up as she streaks a gentle smile to June.

Once I hear the words refer to my brother is so madly in love with her, I really want to speak my heart out. I may say, ‘Dude, I’m also head over heels to June. Even, she makes me fall harder by taking care of me well’. However, it is not a piece of cake for me to do so. It is equal to drop a bombshell—revealing the truth my mom or dad never knows.

End of POV

In the course of time, the dinner time arrives. There are various type of home-cooking food served on the table. A few of them are cooked by Mrs. Barfield, while the rests are bought and sent by the delivery service of a nearby restaurant. As June joins the Barfield’s, they start chatting casually and enjoy the meals. Firstly, Mrs. Barfield opens by asking, “Well, what are your parents doing, June?”

“My dad is just a businessman, but he is not the most successful one, and my mom is just a housewife.” June state directly with her conflicted gazes. It seems that a question about her family hits a nerve since she hasn’t in-contact with them for quite long time.

“Oh, a big cheese. What is he working on exactly?” Mr. Barfield throws a question with excited tone since he is also a businessman without any big achievements and reputation.

June stares at him nervously. She is not embarrassed with the truth that she is a daughter of a businessman working on property stuffs. Even so, she is not comfortable when she recalls about her rocky relationship with her dad. Therefore, she tells the truth, “He works on property field, the house developer.”

“What a stable job! Is it the biggest one?” Mrs. Barfield asks as her face lights up, channeling that she is surprised mixed of amazed by June’s family background. Besides that, she begins to assume if June’s family may be rich and quite prestigious.

At that point, Sam notices that her mom may sound a bit nosier, so he warns, “Mom, please don’t interfere her personal life too much. She may be uncomfortable.”

While her brother cuts the conversation, Stacy pour cream chowder into a bowl carefully and gives it to June. “Enjoy it while it’s warm,” She says.

Then, June smiles while receiving a bowl of the soup. That simple attitude of the blonde girl makes Stacy smitten easily. It is very common to see her crush smiling or yelling, due to the private lesson time. However, Stacy never feels enough of her smiles. She always crave of everything related to June, no matter how often she sees her in weeks or months. It can be said that June has been her obsession on the first time meeting.

Feeling a butterfly in her stomach, Stacy carelessly takes a spoonful of hot cream chowder and eats it. “OUCHHH!” She yells as a sharp burning sensation lingers on her tongue.

“Are you okay, Stacy?? Wait for a second!” June looks panic while standing from her chair and seeks for the first-aid kit box.

The new day greets me gleefully. The sun rises over a few sheets of clouds floating in a blue sky. The birds chirp merrily. Some of them are flying in the trees, near the Barfield's house. It is around 07.45 when Stella is busy in the kitchen. She is fighting with the stove and ingredients as she smiles lightly. Cooking is a daily routine for her, but it never becomes a burden, even though it is quite long and busy sometimes. When the breakfast is ready on the table, the gentle thuds are perceived. Along with the noise, Stacy exists as she yawns lazily. "Morning, mom," She greets weakly, and Stella tugs a tiny smile. "You look exhausted, dear," Stella commented in a casual tone. She then inquires, "What time did you arrive last night?" Stacy rubs her eyes carefully. The indolent tone still dominates her voice. "Well, maybe around ten forty. They are so wild," she intentionally lies. Through her expression, it is clear enough that she attempts to reassure Stella so no suspic

Stacy POV As those questions come from her mouth, a beam on my lips disappears. I know how overthinking June is. She seems to feel unsafe about everything in her life, including this relationship. It sometimes makes me frustrated when she ruins the happy vibes like this. "Hm, can you not ruin the vibe, babe? It's very intimate to stay three days in a villa, having some activities to do on our own. Nobody will judge us for being of the same sex." I glance at her as the protests are released. Without looking away from my face, she takes my hand and holds it carefully. She doesn't directly reply to my words as I notice her stare seems to be more composed than usual. I know she tries to select and construct certain words into a reasonable explanation. "I'm sorry if it feels like I ruin the good vibe. I only make sure you don't deceive your mom and dad again." June responded softly as her thumb caressed the back of my hand. I can sense her sincerity in her words and actions.

Sam POV The moment, my sister entered the restaurant, my heart pounded. At that moment, I also tried to think positively. I still believed that my sister was really hanging out with her best friends, just as she had told Mom before. Nevertheless, as I step inside and follow her to the rooftop, doubt creeps into my mind. A few what-ifs appear in my head, as if those things were signs that my sister was dating the same person who had once been my fiancé. Then, the doubt in my heart grows bigger. It turns into a fact, right in front of my eyes. Not only does it appear, but it also slaps my ego. The view I see between Stacy and June is proof that awakens my senses rudely. Yeah, I admit I still love her. My heart is longing for June's existence. Each time, I always expect her chat when a notification pops up on my phone screen. Sometimes, I want to meet her as a friend, inviting her to lunch, but I notice that there will be a gap because there is nothing between us. Another th

Stacy POV Finally, the time I have rooted for comes to an end. After changing my casual home wear to a flowery knee-length gown, I gently apply sunblock to my face as I stand in front of the mirror. Then, I put powder evenly on my face. Once I have finished with my makeup and hair, I get out of my room, looking for my glittery slippers on the shoe shelves next to my door, exactly on the left side. "TAP! TAP!" The clicking sound is apprehended as I have worn the slippers and hit them on the floor. "You look stunning, honey." Mom lands her eyes on me attentively. She always notices my appearance, especially when I have an important event, but for now, I cannot discern the true intention behind my good looks. Like it or not, I must lie. I'm so sorry, Mom. I tug a gentle beam as I stare at her softly. Then, I say, "Not so stunning, Mom. I only try not to look messed up." "Really? You are in full makeup now. Are you sure this is not so stunninn'tyou looking like this for your b

Stacy POV Finally, a day without her is passed. Today is the time for me to have quality time with my beloved tutor, since she has promised to substitute the cancelled date. Now, time is exactly at 10.15, and I've just finished my breakfast. Actually, I once initiated to have a date in the afternoon, around lunch time, but she refused it. The reason she stated was she needed some time to rest herself due to the arguments she had with her dad, the day befofe. As her girlfriend, I have rights to know what she has argued with her dad. However, I need to know the limit. I cannot interfere her personal life too much although I may do it for comforting her. She can also feel uncomfortable if I come up with the matter she has lingered on before. Once I have done with washing the dishes, I decide to head back to my room. I remember that I have a video call session with Skyla and Clara. The appointment was arranged last night through the group chat since those two were free, the sam

In reality, I'm like a princess running from the marvellous mansion and luxurious lifestyle, for a my own goods because this home never feels like the one due to dad's authoritative traits. Yet, whenever it comes about whether I miss a homey or family vibes around, my answer is certainly yes. Who doesn't miss having chats with siblings and mom? Who will feel annoyed to meet a sibling barely going back since he is still chasing his double degree while organizing his job? Once the dinner is passed, mom invites me to drink near the balcony on the second floor. With a glass of red wine in our hands, she breaks the ice with a direct question, "Just like what I have mentioned before. Where is Sam?" I gulp down a bit and answer, "I'm sorry for not informing you earlier, but Sam and I are no longer engaged." The wrinkles around h
