“I fall for her, June Bentley, my brother’s fiancée. Yeah, this is silly, and many of my friends may get startled if I declare the truth. They can see me as a third wheel in my brother’s engagement, but I don’t care about their opinions. Though, I really love her at the first place. The moment I meet her as my private teacher is the time when I start developing my feelings to her. There is no other people I really want to see. It is only her and forever will be her. Yet, unexpectedly, after getting engaged to my brother, unexpectedly, she often spends more time for me. Among those times, she suddenly confesses her feelings to me. Her admission certainly makes me happy, but I realize that our love might be impossible to happen, but we decide to go through it, through the thick and thin, whether it is happy or sad.” -Stacy Barfield-

Chapter 1

Hidden Admiration

Stacy POV

Falling in love, the phrases I always find them to be beautiful and sweet, especially to a teenager like me. Yeah, I consider the feeling like that because it is mostly about adoring someone you are comfortable to be around with. Moreover, the feeling of love may change your cool personalities into the clingy or childish traits. Again, the only reason is because we find the comfort on the certain person who treat us more properly.

That’s how I’m feeling towards my private teacher, June Bentley. Now, I’m sitting on the chair, next to the woman with beautiful wavy long blonde hair. On her fringe, there is a slight white color highlight, making her looks more eccentric than other private teachers I’ve ever met. Besides that, the sweet alluring beauty on her face is exuded clearly by the sunlight peeking through the window. Each feature on her face always distracts my attention from the explanation she gives for my learning references.

“In sum, to find the answers of indices problems. We need to remember its common rules. When the variables are divided, we subtract the indices. If they are multiplied, we have to add the indices altogether,” She explains while writing down the rules on my notebook. Then, her brown orbs stare at me as she inquires, “Is it clear enough for you, Stacy?”

Her smooth and calm voice immediately gathers my consciousness. Yet, I completely space out, being unable to recall what she has told me. “Huh?” The only word I am able to utter as I stare at her charming visual. In that case, she inhales slowly and repeats, “Any details you still don’t understand? Please tell me if you feel such a thing.”

Smirking mischievously, I dart an innocent glance at her and reply, “Well, all I know is the prettiest creature sitting next to me with her brilliant brain.”

“TAK..” She flicks my forehead gently and complains, “How can you master this chapter if you keep joking like this, Stacy?!”

I only chuckle. Then, I stare at her and reply, “You know that math is never my passion, Ms. Instead, I prefer learning architectural drawing.”

June squints her eyes. It feels that she finds an oddity in my preferred subject. I know architectural drawing also deals with mathematical knowledge, but it will require just a little. It is not as much as the regular math I usually learn at school. Then, she nags for another time, “That’s also about mathematical things. How can you design houses without measurements?? Your designs may not meet the standards. It is better to practice your calculation, so that you can apply it for another field.”

The more she complains, the wider my smile appears. I know I should have felt irritated by her advices or yells, especially the same thing, such as practice more or noting the important details I need. However, it never makes me tired or downgrade my mood. It yet causes joy in my heart. I consider them as a little care she shares in order to motivate my passion in learning.

“Is it funny for you? I remind you like this for your own goods, Stacy.” She adds as she puts the pencil on my opened notebook.

“I know…” Before I can finish my sentence, her phone rings, and she immediately answers the call.

“Yes, babe? I’m still in your house, teaching your little sister,” The responds coming from her mouth widened my stares. The fact that June is my brother’s girlfriend crosses my mind, certainly interfering my admiration towards her.

I realize that I really fall for her, but a bitter fact causes myself to be discouraged instantly. She dates my big brother. Yeah, they have dated before I become a senior high school student. The day, I find out about them as a couple, makes me down in the dumps. How can a girl still smile after figuring out that her crush is dating someone else? It really causes the instability of my mood for few weeks. Following with that, I cannot streak a cheerful smile in front of her, letting her know that I’m unhappy, but she is not able to determine my true reason.

In consequence, she brings different types of snack whenever the lesson time comes. It then leads on few assumptions from my mom and my brother, Samuel Barfield. However, among their several predictions, they clearly believe that those snacks given to me are the gifts to boost my passion in chasing good grades at school. While for me, personally, is she intends to entertain me, so that I would not be sulky about her decision to love my brother. It may sound delusional for some people to think like that, but it seems that she might understand my feelings to her although I never confess.

“Okay, noted. Maybe, you need to drop me first at the apartment, so I can change my attires. It is improper if we go eating out with my casual style, just like now.” Another responses makes me aware from the past memory. I then stare at her slim back from a far.

Through those words, it is clear that my brother invites her to hang out. It really resents me since the wild imagination of my brother being flirty to June appears in my mind. Yes, it is caused by my possessiveness to June since I am really into her. However, still, I have to manage my emotion whenever I see them around. I cannot show my true feelings or let it slip, and June figures my feelings to her. It may cause a distant interaction once she realizes it, and I cannot do anything if it happens.

After the call is ended, she stares at me and orders, “All right. You can do the next two numbers before we finish the lesson. Don’t forget to write the steps and underline the final answers.”

“All right, Miss.” I reply shortly, and let my pencil dances on the paper while my eyes scanning the each of the problems carefully.
