LOGINChapter 5
Lana – POV The door clicks shut behind him. The sound echoes through the room like a final decision. For a moment, neither of us moves. The space between us feels charged with something heavy… something inevitable. Ethan stands near the door, watching me. His gaze slowly travels over me, not rushed, not careless—like he’s memorizing every detail. My pulse begins to race. “You can still ask me to leave,” he says quietly. His voice is calm, but something dark flickers beneath it. I shake my head. “No.” The word leaves my mouth before I can stop it. Silence stretches between us. Then Ethan moves. One slow step. Then another. Every step makes my heartbeat louder. By the time he reaches me, I can feel the warmth radiating from his body. “Lana,” he murmurs. The way he says my name sends a shiver down my spine. “Yes?” “You’re making this very hard for me.” I swallow. “Why?” His hand lifts slowly, brushing a loose strand of hair away from my face. His fingers linger for a moment against my cheek. “Because I’ve been trying to behave all night.” My breath catches. “Trying?” “Yes.” His thumb traces lightly along my jaw. “And failing.” The room suddenly feels warmer. My heart pounds harder. “You barely know me,” I whisper. “That’s the problem,” he says. His eyes darken. “I want to.” The words send a rush of heat through me. Before I can respond, his hand slides gently to the back of my neck. Not forceful. Just enough to pull me closer. His forehead almost touches mine. “Tell me to stop,” he murmurs. I should. I know I should. But instead… I whisper, “I won’t.” That’s all the permission he needs. Ethan closes the distance between us. The kiss isn’t gentle this time. It’s deep. Hungry. Like the tension between us has finally snapped. My fingers clutch the front of his shirt as he pulls me closer against him. His arms wrap around my waist, strong and certain. For a moment the entire world disappears. There is only the heat of his mouth. The way his hands hold me like he doesn’t want to let go. My head spins slightly when he breaks the kiss. His forehead rests against mine. His breathing is heavier now. “So much for behaving,” he murmurs. I laugh softly, breathless. “I didn’t ask you to behave.” “That’s becoming very clear.” His hand slides slowly along my back, pulling me closer again. The warmth of his touch sends another wave of heat through my body. “Ethan…” The way I say his name makes something shift in his expression. His eyes darken again. Dangerously. “Say that again,” he murmurs. “Ethan.” This time his lips find mine again. Slower. Deeper. The kind of kiss that makes time feel like it’s stretching endlessly. Eventually he pulls back slightly, studying my face. “You’re sure about this?” he asks quietly. The concern in his voice surprises me. “Yes,” I whisper. His gaze softens for just a moment. Then he lifts me effortlessly, setting me gently onto the edge of the bed. My heart races wildly now. He stands between my knees, one hand resting on the mattress beside me. The tension between us feels almost unbearable. Then he leans down again. And the night finally takes over. The city lights outside the window glow across the room while the world beyond this hotel suite fades away. For one reckless, unforgettable night… There is nothing but him. ⸻Chapter 37 Lana – POV The building is finally quiet. For the first time in two days, the endless noise has stopped. No reporters shouting questions. No investors calling every ten minutes. No board members demanding emergency meetings. Just silence. I’m sitting in my office long after most employees have gone home, staring at the city lights outside the window. Dubai looks peaceful from this height. Which is ironic. Because inside this building, nothing feels peaceful. The press conference helped. The headlines are already shifting. Now the articles talk about the restructuring results instead of my past. But the damage isn’t completely gone. And Selene is still out there. Planning something. A knock on the door breaks my thoughts. “Come in.” Ethan steps inside. He closes the door quietly behind him. “You’re still here,” he says. “So are you.” He walks farther into the room, loosening his tie slightly. “You handled the press conference well.” “You did most o
Chapter 36 Lana – POV By noon, the situation has become impossible to ignore. The headlines about my past are spreading quickly. Financial news outlets. Corporate blogs. Even social media accounts run by business analysts. Everyone suddenly has an opinion about my career. Most of them are wrong. But that doesn’t stop the damage. I’m sitting in Ethan’s office reviewing another article when Daniel walks in. “Well,” he says. “This escalated quickly.” “That’s an understatement.” He drops his phone on the desk in front of me. Another headline appears on the screen. “Consultant Behind Hale Industries Restructuring Linked to Controversial Corporate Collapse.” I close my eyes briefly. “That project was five years ago.” “I know.” “The company was already failing before I got involved.” Daniel nods. “But the media loves simple stories.” “And this one is simple.” “Powerful CEO.” “Controversial consultant.” “Corporate romance.” I sigh. “That sounds terrible when you s
Chapter 35 Lana – POV The next morning begins with silence. Not peaceful silence. The kind that comes before something explodes. When I step into the executive floor of Hale Industries, the atmosphere feels tense again. More tense than yesterday. Which shouldn’t be possible. But apparently, things can always get worse. I reach my office just as my phone buzzes. Daniel. “Come to Ethan’s office,” he says immediately. “Good morning to you too.” “This isn’t a social call.” “What happened?” “Just come.” The call ends. That’s never a good sign. ⸻ When I enter Ethan’s office, both brothers are already there. Daniel stands near the desk, arms crossed. Ethan is reviewing something on his laptop. The tension between them is obvious. “What’s going on?” I ask. Daniel doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, he places a folder on Ethan’s desk. “You want to explain this?” he asks. Ethan looks up. “What is it?” “Something I found in my office last night.” Ethan opens the f
Chapter 34 Lana – POV I should have known the media wouldn’t give up so easily. The moment I step out of the building that evening, I realize exactly how bad things have become. At least twelve reporters are waiting outside the main entrance of Hale Industries. Cameras. Microphones. Phones held up like weapons. The moment they see me, everything explodes. “Ms. Vale!” “Lana!” “Is your relationship with Ethan Hale affecting company decisions?” “Did you manipulate the restructuring contract?” The questions come from every direction at once. I freeze for a second. Daniel, who had been walking beside me, mutters under his breath. “Great.” Security immediately steps forward, trying to control the crowd. But the reporters push closer. “Ms. Vale, can you comment on the scandal?” “Did the CEO give you unfair authority?” “Are investors right to question your role?” My heart starts racing. This isn’t just uncomfortable. It’s humiliating. Daniel leans closer. “Keep walki
Chapter 32 Lana – POV By the time the morning meeting begins, the tension inside Hale Industries has become impossible to ignore. The scandal is no longer just media gossip. Now it’s affecting the company. Assistants rush through the executive floor with worried expressions. Phones ring constantly. And several department heads are already waiting outside the conference room. Investors. My stomach tightens as I step inside. Ethan is already there, sitting at the head of the long table. Daniel stands near the window, scrolling through his phone. When he looks up, he shakes his head slightly. “That bad?” I ask quietly. “Worse.” “Fantastic.” Ethan glances at both of us. “Let’s start.” The door closes. Six investors sit across from us. Their expressions are polite. But tense. One of them, Mr. Al-Farid, clears his throat. “Mr. Hale,” he begins. “We appreciate you meeting with us so quickly.” “Of course,” Ethan replies calmly. “We have concerns.” “That’s understan
Chapter 30 Lana – POV By midday, the scandal is everywhere. Financial news sites. Corporate blogs. Social media. Everywhere. My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since the first article appeared. Some messages are supportive. Others are far less kind. “Corporate favoritism.” “Consultant sleeping her way to the top.” I stop reading after that. “Don’t read the comments.” Ethan’s voice comes from across the hotel suite. He’s standing by the window, speaking quietly on the phone with someone from the company’s PR team. “I wasn’t planning to,” I reply. “Good.” He ends the call and turns toward me. “They’re preparing a statement.” “That sounds serious.” “It is.” “What are you telling them?” “That the rumors are exaggerated.” My eyebrow lifts slightly. “That’s one way to describe it.” His mouth curves faintly. “You’re not helping.” I sigh. “This is getting worse.” “Only temporarily.” “Ethan, the entire corporate world thinks I manipulated you.” “I don’t.” “That’s
Chapter 24 Lana – POV For a few seconds, the world disappears. The city lights blur behind Ethan’s shoulders as he kisses me. My hands instinctively grip the front of his jacket, pulling him closer before I can think about the consequences. Which, unfortunately, are very real. Because the mom

Chapter 20 Lana – POV The next morning at Hale Industries feels colder than usual. Not physically. Emotionally. Every step I take through the lobby feels like walking through invisible whispers. People glance at me. Then quickly look away. My stomach tightens. Selene didn’t waste any time.
