“Is the creditor still disturbing you about the debt?” I let go of the fork before replying, “He gave me five days to pay back everything.” Unable to hide how frustrated and confused I was, I continued. “Today is the fifth day, yet I couldn't even raise a quarter of that amount.” My mom's hands made their way to mine before muttering, “It is not your fault, Dina. Blame it on your father who borrowed such a huge sum of money and disappeared on us. I bet he must be enjoying the money with his mistress.” Since I understood how she felt about father's disappearance, I decided not to argue with her. “If dad leaves you for another woman, then it is his loss, not yours,” I said, trying to lighten our mood. Just when I was about to begin eating, my mom's voice echoed. “Since today is the deadline given to us, why not sell this house and maybe rent a smaller apartment after paying off the debt?” My eyes widened at her words, not expecting her to make such a suggestion. “Mom, this house is all dad left for us. And even though we sell it, it won't be enough to pay even half of the debt,” I muttered. “But Dina—” “Mom, let's just eat. Enough of the debt talks, please,” I interrupted her before I continued eating, trying to finish up in time since I have to go to work. After I was done, I cleaned my mouth before hugging my mother from behind. “Mom, have faith in me, okay?” “It is not as if I don't believe you, but I am afraid you might get hurt. Mark isn’t the kind of man that plays nice,” she said, sounding like she really knew him. “I should be on my way now,” I let go of her before leaving for work. Standing on the roadside while waiting for the bus heading to my workplace, I felt a sharp grip on my wrist. Before I could wrestle with the person, I felt a sharp piercing pain into my neck, a pain familiar to the one I do feel when injected. And that was the last thing I remembered before blanking out. When I opened my eyes, I found out I was in a strange place, my hands and legs tied behind a chair with my mouth covered. I tried to scream for help, but it was of no use. I could barely hear my own voice. “Boss, this is the girl,” one of the men said, making me turn to see who he referred to as ‘boss’. My eyes widened at who it was. It is Mark Davison, my father's creditor. I knew he said today was the deadline, but I didn't expect him to kidnap me. “Dina, didn't I warn you about the consequence of failing to pay me back my money?” His voice distracted me from my thoughts. He walked up to me with a mischievous smile on his face, making me wonder what he was up to. It wasn't my fault that my father borrowed money from him, but because my mother is blind and my father has gone AWOL, it became my responsibility to pay him back the money. “Untie her!” Without hesitating, his men began to untie me. It didn't take them a minute before they set me free, my breathing returning to normal. “Mr. Mark, please be patient with me. I am trying my best to raise and pay you back the money,” I whined. He chuckled at my words before muttering, “You are trying your best, but it isn't just enough.” He pulled out a gun from his pants pocket, pointing it at me. “You know what happens when a debtor refuses to pay their debt?” “I don't,” the words escaped from my shivering lips, my voice barely audible. “The consequence of failing to meet the deadline is death!” His words sent chills down my spine, making me tremble. Even though I am tired of multiple part-time jobs and strip dancing in front of horny men, I did not want to leave my blind mother. I am the only one she has. “Please don't kill me. I promise to pay back the debt in double fold. Just give me some time, please,” My mouth which went open, unable to talk for a moment, finally spoke up. Instead of listening to my pleas, he pointed the gun to my forehead, his hand on the trigger, ready to pull it off. “Sir, won't it be a waste killing her?” Mark turned his gaze to one of his men who just spoke. “Should I keep her alive? Are you trying to say listening to her pleas all this time isn't a waste of time?” He questioned, anger evident in his voice. “Greenwood Auction is tonight. If you auction her off, you are going to get twice the money she owes you,” the man muttered with his gaze lowered. I thought he was going to side with me, but I was wrong. He is suggesting I get separated from my mom who had no one but me! “I think that would be better than wasting my precious bullet.” *WEREWOLF REALM* “Alpha Lykoz, you aren't getting any younger. You need a Luna to rule by your side and an heir,” Elder Aiden suggested, breaking the silence in the hall. Knowing he is the reason for today's meeting, Lykoz heaved a deep sigh. He wanted an heir more than anyone present in the hall, but his cursed fate denied him of that. He tried having his chosen mates as his Luna, but none of them made it alive after the night of the red full moon when he had to consummate their union. He gave up trying to look for his destined mate and having an heir after trying for the fifth time, staining his hands with the blood of five she-wolves. “I can't believe you are talking me into having another Luna when it wasn't even up to thirty days since I lost the previous Luna,” his deep voice resonated in the hall. “Right now, we have more pressing issues than me having another Luna and an heir.” “My Alpha, what is more pressing than having a pup and a strong Luna by your side?” Another elder, Elder Steven, asked curiously. The other members in the hall nodded in agreement to him. “According to the prophetess, Beta Braham’s daughter is the only one who could save the werewolf realm from destruction,” Lykoz revealed. “The revelation of the prophetess is coming to pass. All our plants are dying. Our pack members are losing their wolves and dying like chickens.” “But the Gammas already searched for him in the vampire and demon realms, where else are we going to find him?” Elder Aiden asked calmly. “I am going to search for him myself one last time,” Lykoz said with certainty laced in his voice. “I would start with searching for him in the human realm.”Lykoz's POV:As much as I wanted Dina, I want to save my kind from going extinct and also break free from my curse.“If I have to choose, then it has to be saving our realm,” reminded of the constant pain I had felt, the endless guilt and innocent lives I had taken, I muttered calmly.Saving just one person is not worth it, especially when she is a plaything I bought for five hundred thousand dollars—perhaps the lie I am trying to convince myself with. All I want is to achieve my grand goals and not be the hero in Dina's life. This is where it ends for us—no more pain for the both of us.Saving the realm, breaking my curse, living like every normal werewolf with their wife and pups should be what I should be working towards achieving and not an uncertain future, especially when I might go insane anytime soon.“Zach, I want you to inform the elders that we have—”“Lykoz… please let me go… please,” Dina's pleading voice echoed, her grip on my pants.“Call me Alpha Lykoz!” I pulled her h
LYKOZ POV:I patiently observed Dina, wondering what she was up to.Her face was wet with tears, her hands trailing down Alicia's face. She didn't look like the Dina I knew.“What are you waiting for? Heal him!” I commanded, making sure to hide my longing for her.No matter how much I lied to myself, I can't deny the pull and what I wanted.I want Dina.“What is my father doing here and why is my mother addressed as my father's sister?” She asked, raising her gaze to look at me.Her question made me confused. How did Braham turn out to be her father?“Do you know this traitor?” I asked calmly, staring disgustedly at Braham who ruined my big plan.If only he had handed over his daughter to me, we would have averted all that is happening and break my curse.“Traitor?” The words rolled out of her suddenly dried lips, her gaze returning to Braham who looked like a mess. “This doesn't make sense at all! I think you mistook my father for another person,” she muttered sincerely, not giving m
Author's POV:“How long are you going to keep ignoring me?” Beta Zach paused upon hearing Ayira's voice. “I am not ignoring you, I am just too busy to care about our mating bond,” he replied, turning to face her. Ayira's grip tightened around her gown, her heart hammering in her chest. “Is our mating bond nothing to you?” She asked, tears welled up in her eyes. All those past years, all she craved for was his touch. His mark. His cock buried deep inside her… but he kept pushing her away. Was she that ugly? Was their bond a disappointment to him? “Yes, it is,” he replied, his voice barely audible. Deep inside him, what he felt for Ayira was nothing short of dislike. He wants to abandon his duty as the Beta of this pack and spend the night in her warm arms, but his responsibility as the son of the Elder of the pack and Beta was more demanding than anything. Perhaps, more important than being in love. He can't risk his status for a worthless maid as they call Ayira. But his hear
Lykoz's POV:My wolf kept pushing me to search for the strong scent that was affecting us, causing chaos in my head. When I finally searched for the direction the scent was coming from, I met Dina. She was standing in the middle of the affected ones like a lost cause. She wasn't fully covered, nor was she wearing a safety mask.“My Alpha, I am here to carry out my duty as a healer,” she muttered politely, without a hint of hatred in her voice. She wasn't supposed to be nice to me. She was supposed to hate me, be angry at me for abandoning her when she needed me the most!“I know you aren't going to take me with you, so I decided to come with Beta Zach. I didn't know you were already here,” her voice snapped me out of my thoughts.I hated the fact that she was always getting in my way. I had to let go of the Gammas, and now she was here?“Where is Zach?” I asked, letting go of her.“This way,” she muttered before leading the way.We walked through the crowd of affected werewolves befor
Dina's POV:“My Luna, are you awake?” Ayira’s question made my eyes flash open, trying to recall how I ended up in my room. At first, all I could remember was me begging Alpha Lykoz to touch me after going into sudden heat. After trying hard, the memory of last night began to flood my mind; Lykos abandoning me, touching myself, and a strange voice in my head. “Did you know what happened to me last night and who rushed me to my room?” I snapped out of my thoughts before asking. Ayira, who gave me time to recall what happened to me last night, hesitated to answer me. “You passed out from touching yourself, exhausting your strength on quenching the fire burning inside you,” she finally spoke up, making me adjust my position. I have many questions to ask her. “Did I?” I asked, not sure if I should believe her or not. “It’s been two days since you were unconscious, and I am certain you will go into heat again,” Ayira informed me. “I am afraid it might claim your life this time,” sh
‘You are hurting her. Let her go!’ Jules growled, making me release her neck. She inhaled deeply, catching her breath, her pale face slowly returning to normal. My heart hammered in my chest as I stared at her, fighting the urge to tell her how much I missed her.“Stop acting like you care about me. Let go of the Gammas… please,” her voice lowered as she pleaded.I chuckled at her words, wondering if she can't see how much I care about her? She is more than just my plaything, but I don't want to be a burden to her.I don't want her to suffer because of me, neither do I deserve her.“You are my property, Dina,” I closed the gap between us. “You are mine and no one touches or hurts what is mine! Anyone who tries it would face nothing but absolute death,” I revealed, trying my best to keep Jules under control.I know he also felt what I am feeling— he wants to feel her skin and inhale more of her scent. But I can't risk it. I have more important things to face other than satisfying my mo
Dina’s POV:I regretted leaving my room last night. I regretted thinking he would love me when the relationship we shared was an obvious one— a cursed bond between a master and his pet.Nothing more.“My Luna,” Ayira’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.I sat up before asking, “Is anything the problem?”“No, my Luna,” she replied, a strange look on her face. From the way she stared strangely at me, I knew she was hiding something from me. “On my way back from the physician, I met our Alpha. He asked after you,” she added, making his words replay in my head.Maybe he asked after me to know if I have successfully gotten the idea of him being in love with me out of my mind.“I think he is worried about you,” Ayira spoke calmly, sounding as if she could read my mind.I chuckled at her words, fully knowing Alpha Lykoz’s intention— all I was and ever would be is the human girl he bought from the human realm to satisfy his sexual urge. His rut.And worried about me? He never was. The only
LYKOZ POV:My eyes pierced through hers, and I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I don't love her—I love her. I want her. I fucking want her by my side every time. But is it worth it? In the end, I would only hurt her.“I don't love you and never would I!” I paused briefly. “Just because we are mates, sharing a cursed bond, doesn't mean we are in love. After all, you are my plaything! You are only here to satisfy my urges and not to cause…” The rest of the words stuck in my throat, each word forcing itself out, feeling my heart ripped apart.I have to endure this. I have to make sure not to get attached to her—I have a goal worth more than being in love, and she has her blind mother to return back to.“Thank you for letting me know my place,” the words came in the form of a dagger, piercing directly into my heart, my wolf agonizing at my action.“If you need me to satisfy your urges, you know where to find me, my Alpha,” she muttered before leaving, a hint of sarcasm in her voice
Author's POV:“You think I would tell you where my daughter is? Keep trying!” Braham’s voice snapped Lykoz out of his thoughts.Disappointment washed over Lykoz at Braham’s words. He thought Braham was going to tell him where he hid his daughter, but he decided to be stubborn instead.“I would see how long you would continue to keep up with lying,” Lykoz paused, studying his facial expression. With the fear reflected on Braham’s face, his knuckles almost turning white as he gripped his pants tightly, it became obvious that he wants to save his head by offering his daughter in return, but why is he hesitating? Lykoz asked inwardly.Seeing how silent he was, Lykoz snapped out of his thoughts before continuing, “Is it until I crush your limb before you would confess? Or until you—”“I swear to the moon goddess, I did not know where she is. I swear.”“Maybe you would confess after you watch your sister get butchered into bits,” Lykoz finalized before leaving the dungeon.Left alone, Braha
