LOGINElvira’s POV
I have waited three years for this day and it was finally happening. Everything has been going on smoothly. Leah was as dull as I said; she sold her shares in a heartbeat, but we haven’t gotten access to the house. Calix said to be patient. I was the highest shareholder at Casper’s company. The Jordon’s family must be happy celebrating their new launch not knowing a storm was coming into their lives. I stood in front of the mirror, and I smiled when I couldn’t recognize myself. For ten years, I was made to dress basic as a full-time housewife. My ex-mother-in-law would say nails are dangerous around my kids, she would say I didn’t need any jewelry, I was the wife yet treated like a servant, but today I was wearing the nails and expensive jewelry. My once black hair was dyed into golden blonde, my nails were done into a blue and pink French tip, and I wore a backless emerald-colored gown with silver shoes to match. Emerald? It was once my favorite color but I can’t say it is at the moment. “Are you ready?” Ciera, Calix's cousin and the only person who had become my friend in these years asked as she entered the room. “Don’t I look ready?” I asked while my eyes were locked on my reflection in the mirror. “You look beautiful,” She threw me a kiss, “Let’s get going, my brother is already waiting for you at the venue, he won’t be able to take his eyes off you tonight.” “You think so?” I chuckled. I knew that wasn’t the case but I couldn’t tell her. If Calix didn’t tell his sister about our relationship then I shouldn’t be the one to tell her. “Yes,” she giggled, “We might have a baby real soon.” I picked up my purse and said, “Let’s go,” before the conversation became awkward. We arrived at the Kyrell hotel, where the event was going to take place. The place was crowded with business people, important figures, journalists and so many people. A soft knock came on the window. I opened the door when I saw it was Becky, “Mr Calix asked me to escort you ladies into the hall.” I nodded my head and came down from the car, “Did my plan work?” I secretly asked her. “Yes, only a few people attended Mr Casper's dinner launch. There was no TV coverage, so they are currently using their phones. It’s a total failure,” Becky said, and a sweet smile appeared on my face. That’s only the beginning of their mystery. I smiled happily as I entered the hall. It was like every normal event, everyone was busy greeting each other while their eyes were searching for that one unfamiliar figure in the hall. Calix took the stage with a smile on his face, “Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,” His voice echoed in the hall, and everyone turned their attention to him. Calix gave a long speech, he spoke about a lot of things including Kyrell’s group and how he wishes to expand more than he already has then he said, “Lastly, let me introduce my wife, Elvira Kyrell, to y’all,” He smiled and stretched his hand out. The hall fell into a heavy silence as their eyes searched for the wife. I put a huge smile on my face, held my dress, and gracefully walked to the stage. Their eyes followed me till I got to the stage. I accepted Calix's hand and stood next to him, facing everyone. The flashes from the paparazzi blinded our eyes for a moment but we maintained our smiling and intimate facade. “Mr Kyrell, how long have you and Mrs Kyrell been married? This is big news for the industry, Is there any more news you plan on revealing? Mr Kyrell, do you have a reason for revealing your face to the public? Is Mrs Kyrell the daughter of some prominent figure? How did you manage to keep your identity hidden for fifteen years? Who are your families? Mrs Kyrell, have we seen you before?” Calix smiled, “I will answer all your questions when the time is right, but for now, I want everyone to enjoy the party.” “Does your wife also have a business brand?” One of the reporters asked. “Yes, she does, all the launches under Kyrell’s group in the last three years were done by her,” Calix said and the hall went into whispers. “Mrs Kyrell, would you like to say anything to us?” Another reporter asked, and the hall went silent. I stood in front of the mic and with a smile on my face I said, “I would like to thank my husband for loving me and openly invite everyone to our wedding anniversary.” “Your wedding anniversary? When will that be? Is it strictly by invitation? Your voice sounds familiar, have you addressed the public before?” Reporters swamped us with questions. “Enjoy the rest of the event,” Calix said, “My wife isn’t doing too well so we would like to retire for the evening.” “Please tell the public more about yourself, Would the public see more of you? Who would you grant an interview?” Question from left and right as Calix held me by the waist and led me outside, the reporter followed us till we got to the car. We entered the car and drove off. “You must be happy,” Calix said, breaking the silence, “You got what you want with Casper; he must be feeling humiliated.” I smiled mentally then let out a breath of relief as I sank into the chair, “Finally, that part is over.” “It’s not,” Calix said and I looked over at him. His eyes were locked on his tablet, “The reporters are uploading all they got from today’s event, it’s only a matter of minutes before your old videos start circulating and people start comparing similarities.” “I know,” I knew that would happen the moment I went on that stage, “I will have the reporters come in tomorrow.” “You should make sure not to make a mistake, the story you are going to tell them will either break or make you,” Calix said with his eyes still glued to the screen, “Nevertheless, I will be supporting you.” A sly smile graced my face, “I didn’t wear a backless dress for no reason.” Calix furrowed his eyebrows as he glanced at me, “Meaning?”Elvira’s POV I have waited three years for this day and it was finally happening. Elvira’s POV Three years later I can’t even say my life is worth it anymore. For the past three years, all I have been doing is hide-and-seek. I stood in front of the hospital ward, where my daughter has been for three years. She has been unconscious since that day and I couldn’t even do anything to help her. I came from time to time to see her, but I was always fully covered, with caps, glasses, a face mask, and sometimes a nurse's uniform, so no one would recognize me. “It’s time to leave, her family will soon be here,” The nurse who I had paid to work in the hospital and be by my daughter’s side said with a tray of injections in her hand. “Is there any improvement?” My voice was barely audible. “She moved her finger the night I played the audio you sent,” The nurse said and a small smile appeared at the corner of my lip.I sometimes send an audio of me singing her favorite lullaby so it could help her wake up soon. “Do we really need to see the child?” I heard the voice I h
Elvira’s POV I watched as he turned on the TV, “The world mourns as the eldest daughter-in-law of the president was found dead and burnt in her car,” A newscaster announced following the scene of the accident. I watched the scene in horror— how did I survive that?—then the man holding a cigarette flashed through my mind, “Did.. did….. that… man save me?” “The truck driver?” The man scoffed, “You don’t get it yet? Do you really think it was an accident?” Come to think of it, he did hit me on purpose because there was no way he didn’t see my car, and I can’t remember him helping me; he just stood there with the cigarette and was making a phone call. The more I watched the news the more my heart shattered. The family I grew up with had accused me of embezzlement of company funds, fraudulent activity in the company, tax evasion, insider trading, data violations and bribery, and corruption. “My late wife was mentally unstable,” Casper cried, and I numbly watched, “She is the re
Elvira’s POV The sound of a machine beeping rang in my ears; I could hear water dripping, and no one's presence was felt. I tried to open my eyes but I felt intense pain in my eyelids. I tried to move but the pain was worse. I didn’t know where I was or who was around. I tried my best to move, “Call the doctor,” I heard an unfamiliar voice speak, and that only made me more scared. Who was she? I have never heard this voice before. I managed to force my eyes open to see that I was in an unfamiliar room. The room was lit up but was painted in beige; the room lacked color, and it was simple. There was medical equipment in the room and the water droplets I heard earlier were the drip attached to my hand. The familiar face of the manager I had met at the hotel was here and that made me even more anxious. Did Casper save me? Or did Karisa save me? Why was the hotel manager standing next to me? The doctor came into the room, he did some examinations on me, and spoke to the manage
Elvira’s POV My feet hurt; the heels I wore made my toes bleed. I was pregnant, yet I was made to wear this tight gown. A gown I could barely breathe in. They said my so-called husband and I were supposed to welcome the guest, but I was the only one standing by the entrance, welcoming the guest like a butler. My mind was on how my daughter was doing and how she ate nuts. I excused myself from the entrance, I needed to check my daughter’s room to figure out who gave her the cupcakes. “Have you lost it?” I stopped right in front of the studies when I heard Casper yell at someone. I wanted to ignore it but I saw Karisa inside the room as the door was slightly open. I scoffed with disgust. Now, they aren’t even hiding. “I did it for us!” Karisa yelled back and I couldn’t help but be curious. “Did I ask you to kill my child! You freaking knew she was allergic to nuts and you purposely fed them to her!” Casper yelled, “Now she is lying in the hospital.” My ear rang. I must b
Elvira’s POV The cab driver stopped in front of the place Karisa drove into and it was my Father-in-law’s hotel. That was weird. If she wanted to meet her boyfriend at the hotel, then she would have used our Father’s hotel. I paid the driver and came down from the car under the pouring rainfall and followed behind Karisa. The receptionist refused to let me through, they said it was orders from above but after so much pleading, the manager of the hotel gave me a spare key card. “Whatever you are looking for is in that room,” She said gently and walked away. I took the elevator, placed the keycard in the elevator and it took me straight to the VIP room. This place was only meant for the Jordan family. I was following Karisa, so why was I given this key card? I was scared to open the door, I didn’t know what to expect, and I didn’t know what I would see or what I would hear. I wanted to turn away but I wanted to save my marriage. I wanted to clear my doubts, so I placed the key
