"Congratulations, Thalia, you're four months pregnant!" The doctor announced, beaming with a warm smile.

"...Rea...really?" She asked, tears continuously piling up in her eyes.

She was overwhelmed by the news. After three years of marriage with her husband, she's finally carrying his child.

Her husband, Franklin Blackwood, has always dreamt of them having a child, he loved kids so much and she's about to give him one.

Maybe this was a gift from God on their three year anniversary.

Right now, she felt like she was on top of the world. She was excited and couldn't wait to share the news with him.

"It's accurate, you and your baby are perfectly fine," He said.

"Thank you doctor, thank you." Tears streamed down her face –not tears of pain, but of joy.

"Would you like to hear the heartbeat of your baby?" The doctor asked and she nodded eagerly, wiping her face.

The doctor smiled and moved the transducer over her belly.

And there it was, she heard it, the small but steady heartbeats.

That was her child's heartbeat. The most beautiful sound she'd ever heard today.

After the ultrasound, the doctor gave her an envelope and the pregnancy test result.

She clutched onto it as if her life depended on it leaving the hospital.

She went home straight away, to plan a big surprise, to announce the good news. She believes her husband would be more than excited to hear that she's pregnant.

She was smiling and nervous. She couldn't wait any longer, to share the good news with her husband.

She called him but he didn't pick, something she couldn't describe washed through her, but she shook it off and dropped a text message. They had dinner plans tonight anyway.

He replied with just a "I'm busy. I might not make it"

She told herself he'd come, and he was just trying to pull her legs.

Two hours passed, she stole a glance at her wrist watch, it's almost ten PM.

The hall was elegant and dimly lit, the soft glows of candles reflecting off the polished wine glass.

A maid passing by glanced at her pitifully. She smiled, hiding the discomfort growing inside her.

Then, just as she was about to dial his number again, she heard his familiar footsteps.

A sigh of relief escaped through her lips, until she saw him.

Franklin entered, holding a hand, their fingers locked, her eyes traced back to the face. A beautiful woman dressed in a short gown that barely covered her thighs.

"Yulia.." The name fell from her mouth uncontrollably.

Her twin sister, she was supposed to be in Paris for her modelling job. Thalia was shocked to the bone marrow.

Franklin stopped in front of her, gazing at her coldly and Yulia seething with resentment.

"Thalia," He called her formally, not as sweet as he used to call her name.

Tears stung her eyes threatening to fall from her eyes.

"What's this?", Thalia glared.

Franklin smirked, he placed a light kiss on Yulia's lips before facing Thalia again.

"You know before I met you, she was the love of my life..

"I asked a straight question!" Thalia snapped.

Yulia grinned softly, holding Franklin's hand tightly as if he belonged to her.

"Thalia, you don't have to make a big deal out of it. The thing is Yulia and I, are dating for two years now." He said.

Her world tilted.

Two years.

Yulia was the first woman he met and fell in love with;she never accepted his proposal. And Thalia was there, he supported him all through his successes, scooped up the remnants of his downfall.

"And I'm pregnant with his child, the baby you couldn't give him all these years!" Yulia blunted.

"What?" She whispered, her voice barely audible.

"And very soon the Blackwood family will have an heir!"

" Frank, today is our third anniversary...." He cut her off flatly.

"Yes, I'm aware of that," He said with a detached tone. "Exactly why we chose today as the perfect time to tell you this."

Today?

On their anniversary?

Thalia fidgeted,he chose today of all days?

Thalia's chest tightened, she staggered backwardly.

It was never a mistake, it was deliberate, they did it intentionally.

A suffocating horror coiled itself around her heart. And she felt it,fear– not loud or sharp, but slow and devouring.

She's pregnant and her sister is pregnant as well for the same man. No, this is a nightmare, she blinked. But nothing changed.

"We were married and you were with my sister." She stated, clutching her stomach.

"I never loved you Thalia, I tried to move on when Yulia rejected my proposal but somehow I found her in my arms!" He raised his voice at her.

He never loved, so all his care, his attention, his love –were fake for good three years.

No. No. No.

She doesn't wanna believe it's really happening, maybe it's just a dream. She blinked, but nothing changed, it's real!

"Do not blame him for anything, Thalia, it's all your fault. Why would you marry him when you knew he loved me!"

Rage and heartbreak collided and she threw a loud slap across her face.

"You bitch! How could you do this to me?!" She yelled out angrily. Tears slipped from the corner of her eyes.

"Hey!" Franklin yelled and returned the slap immediately.

Thalia held her cheeks in her palm and Yulia smiled, even if the slap did hurt her.

"Baby, are you fine?" He asked with care.

"Frank, you slapped me!" Thalia cried, her voice cracked.

He didn't hesitate. "Yes, I'll do it again and again, if you hurt my woman!"

His woman? She was his wife!

That triggered her, her hands flew up in the air,and Yulia caught her wrist before it could land on Franklin's cheek.

He smiled, and she yanked Thalia's hands off roughly.

She staggered a bit.

“Don't you dare!” Yulia glared.

A sharp breath hitched in Thalia's throat, letting her tears stream down her face.

“He's my man, you have no right to touch him anymore. Get a hold of yourself, even if he chose me it's not the end of the world. Move on and get out of his life, he doesn't want you. You don't have to act slutty!” Yulia yelled out angrily, she took a deep breath then smiled, embracing him shortly.

"Thank you baby"Franklin kissed her forehead.

Then he looked up at Thalia angrily.

"Let's not drag this too much,Thalia," He said, dug his hand in his pocket and brought out an envelope.

"Sign them!" He threw the papers at her.

"What is this?" She asked with a shaky voice.

Yulia smiled like a fool.

"Divorce papers." He blurted coldly. His words trampled her heart on the marble floor.

Jay was still at the chapel. He sat quietly on the wooden bench where he had been sitting for hours now, his small legs dangling just above the tiled floor, his hands folded loosely on his lap. In front of him, Tracey's picture was resting on the stand near the altar, smiling at him. Everyone had been hurt by Tracey’s death, there was no denying that but he was hurt the most because Tracey and him were always together all day. He didn't go home because the mansion had felt heavier since that day, the walls echoing with a grief that refused to settle. But Jay…it was different for him. He was the one who had lost a twin. The one who had lost the person who shared his world, his secrets, his silence. He was the one who was hurt the most. Home didn’t feel like home anymore. Every hallway reminded him of Tracey running past him. Every staircase echoed with her laughter. Even their room was untouched, perfectly arranged, it felt like a trap waiting to break him open all over again. Tha

Meanwhile, Orion drove straight into the mansion the moment the security informed him that Thalia was in the premises. He didn’t bother asking questions nor did he slow down. The iron gates slid open and he sped in, his mind racing with possibilities he didn’t want to name. Thalia has never been here before. Her presence alone felt like a warning. The car came to a halt and immediately, Rosy stepped out with Jewel beside her. Both of them hurried inside, worries written plainly on Rosy’s face. The hall was empty. No servants standing by. No familiar chatter. Just a heavy silence that pressed against their ears. Then they heard noises and raised voices. A sharp, unhinged laugh, something crashing against the floor. The sound came from the living room. Rosy slowed at first, her heart pounding. She glanced at Orion, fear tightening her chest. “Orion,” she said carefully, “I hope your sister doesn’t do anything to Thalia.” Orion didn’t reply. He had already turned sharpl

“Eliana,” she muttered, her eyes blazing with resolve, “you’ll have to answer to me this time around.” And she pressed harder on the accelerator.Thalia didn’t remember how she got there. She only knew that at some point, the road curved into a long, private driveway lined with towering iron gates and silent cameras. And it was boldly written on the signboard—Smith's Mansion. She had never stepped foot there before, had never needed to. But now, standing outside the mansion with her hands trembling slightly at her sides, she felt like fate had dragged her here by the throat, she has to confront Eliana today or never. The car engine became silent as she switched off the engine. The silence that followed was loud. She stepped out, her heels clicking against the tiled pavement, the black gown clinging to her body. Before she could take more than three steps, two security men appeared, blocking her path with professional stiffness. “Ma’am,” one of them said politely but firmly, “w

Thalia broke the hug slowly, as if pulling away might shatter what little strength she had left. Her arms fell to her sides, heavy, useless. She was sad beyond words could explain yet somewhere beneath the grief, there was a faint warmth. The warmth that reminded her she wasn’t alone. That her husband was still here, holding her together when she was already falling apart. Her lips trembled. “I don’t know if I can do this,” Thalia whispered, her voice cracked midway. George didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he lifted his hands and cupped her cheeks gently, his palms warm against her cold skin. His thumbs brushed away the tears she hadn’t even realized were falling, his eyes staring deeply into her teary eyes. “Right now,” he said quietly, carefully choosing his words, “we have to go to the chapel. Then we bury Tracey.” His throat tightened, but he continued. “After that...you have to be at the court.” Her breath hitched. “Can’t I avoid it?” she asked, almost pleading. “Just fo

George didn’t wait for another word. He rose to his feet slowly, gently slid his arms around Thalia’s waist and pulled her into him. She didn’t fight it, her body melted into his chest as though the strength holding her upright finally collapsed. Her face pressed into his shoulder, her breath shaky, her palms gripping the back of his shirt as if holding onto the last piece of stability she had left. For the first time since Tracey’s death, Thalia allowed herself the luxury of leaning on someone. Not as a mother. Not as a fighter. Not as a woman drowning in questions, grief, and fury. But simply as a human being who was tired, so unbearably tired.George held her with a firmness that didn’t suffocate her. His hands slid up and down her back slowly, grounding her with every motion. He didn’t speak. He didn’t rush her. He simply held her like she was the center of his universe, and if he let go, she would fall apart. He rested his chin gently on her hair.“You’re safe,” he whispered eve

Franklin drove like a madman, the tires screeching loud enough to wake the entire island. His heart hammered painfully in his chest as he pulled into the hospital parking lot, barely putting the car in park before he pushed the door open and stormed inside. He walked down the corridor, ignoring the nurses who greeted him, ignoring the stares, ignoring everything except the burning question clawing at his skull. He needed answers. He needed clarity. He needed to know why George’s blood matched Thalia’s daughter and his didn’t.His breath was uneven when he finally reached the diagnostics wing. A doctor stepped out from an office and instantly recognized him.“Mr. Blackwood...”“We need to talk,” Franklin cut in, his voice sharp and trembling. “Why didn’t my blood match Tracey’s? I want the truth.”The doctor inhaled deeply, gesturing for him to enter the office. Franklin stepped in and slammed the door shut behind him.The doctor adjusted his glasses and sat down slowly.“Mr. Blackwood
