20. Nothing Left To Lose

“Mia, walk with me,” Father told me, and I felt my cheeks and ears heating up. Everyone was still silently staring at me, so I nodded at my father before getting up from my chair and following him out of the living area.

“What did you wish to talk about?” I asked my father once we were outside, and he didn’t answer me until we were in the courtyard.

“Why did you stop laughing? Was it because of something I did?” My father asked me, and I looked down at my shoes before sighing lightly.

“I witnessed a murder, that of a rogue. An innocent man.” I said softly as tears pooled in my eyes. “’Tis later that I found out that it was your men that murdered him, and that you gave them the order to do so, after that, I could not bring myself to laugh,” I said before looking up at my father with a teary smile. “I was traumatized, but I chose to forgive you because I was afraid to lose you, but I won’t forgive you this time, I can't. Because once is a mistake father but twice is cheating.” I said as
