"Yes, so we shall join you."
Indianna stopped in her tracks. "Join us?"
Rogue nodded. "Yes. I'm sure they'll be enough food for two more people seeing as so many people are going to be there."
"I really don't know what his parents have planned-"
"I love surprises," Rogue smirked. "Shall we say 8? I assume that all of your little friends and family will be joining too? No one should miss out on Christmas. I expect everyone to be there."
"I... Um-"
"Brilliant. Stacey will be thrilled," Rogue said.
"Great," Indianna forced out, attempting to smile.
"I better go and let her know of our change of plans," Rogue said. "I'll see you tonight, little sister."
Indianna watched as Rogue left and she stood still in the woods, trying to think of any way to fix what had just happened.
*Are you fucking kidding me, sugar,* Greyson's voice filled her mind.
*This is a problem,* she groaned and started to make her way back to the house. *But it's not like he was going to take no for an answer!*
*We're not even having Christmas dinner tonight!*
*Yeah, I'm aware of that!*
Greyson sighed. *Well, it looks like we are now.*
*I'm sorry-*
*It's not your fault, sugar. We better go and tell my mother that she needs to start cooking.*
*
"Fuck off! I'm not having dinner with that psychopath! He probably has his Christmas dinner without gravy like the loony he is!"
"I will kill him as soon as he glances in Brooklyn's direction!"
"How the hell did this get planned?"
"Oh gosh, I've got so much food to cook-"
"Enough!" Greyson yelled. "It's happening. We can't change it!"
Indianna cringed as she descended the stairs, hearing the shouts of protests coming from the lounge. Greyson had just finished telling everyone of the evening's dinner plans. Indianna walked into the kitchen where Lily was waiting for her, sat at the dining table.
"Have you got it?" Lily demanded. "I've spent far too long here already."
Indianna placed the children's book in front of her. "What sort of key are you looking for?"
"I have no idea," Lily muttered and opened the door, her eyes darting back and forth and she scanned the pages.
"Where did you hear about this?" Indianna wondered as Lily turned another page. "I'd never even heard of the Royals until Laura gave me this book."
"It's because they're a fairytale. Or that's what most people have come to think. The Royals are old, really old, so no one even knows if they were real or just stories. But, there are whispers of a cave where they disappeared. Rumour is that they've never left that cave."
"Lily, they would no longer be alive," Indianna said gently.
"They weren't like normal werewolves," Lily said dismissively, keeping her eyes on the book as she turned more pages. "If they are real then they are alive. The stories say that once the werewolf world was at peace and under control, the Royals didn't see any need for them to be in control anymore, so they created the pack system to maintain peace and they disappeared, but it was always said that if they were needed again to restore order then they could be awoken, specifically by a girl. If I can find this cave then they might be there. I might be able to wake them up and they can finally put an end to Rogue. I might be the girl that the stories talk about."
Indianna let out a long breath. "Lily, it's a nice thought but-"
Lily had reached the final page of the book and her face dropped. "No, there has to be something!"
"Maybe it is just a fairytale-"
"Wait." Lily had let the last page of the book fall and she frowned, staring at the back leather cover. "I need a knife," she murmured to herself and searched her pockets, pulling out a small blade. She then gently sliced along the edge of the back cover, creating an opening. "Fuck me," she whispered and pulled out what looked like an old piece of parchment.
"Oh my gosh," Indianna said as Lily unfolded it and laid it out on the dining table. "It's a map."
"This is the key," Lily said and suddenly jumped up from the table. "I have to go-"
"Lily, wait," Indianna protested as Lily grabbed the map and folded it up, placing it in her back pocket. "We need to show this to the others."
"No, this is for me to do on my own. I've spent far too long here already, I don't want to risk Rogue catching me," Lily said and headed for the kitchen door just as Harry walked in, closely followed by Brooke whose eyes were red and she looked close to tears.
"Were you going to tell me that you were here?" Harry asked, leaning against the doorframe and blocking Lily's exit. Indianna noticed how Brooke reached for Harry's hand, squeezing it tightly. He immediately pulled her closer to him and wrapped his arm protectively around her.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked, ignoring Harry and focusing on Brooke.
"Wrong? Nothing's wrong," Brooke said quickly and shook her head. "I'm fine."
Lily slowly turned her gaze to Harry. "What's wrong with her?" She demanded, finally acknowledging him.
"I'm fine," Brooke said. "In fact, I think I'm just going to go-"
"Rogue," Harry said. "Rogue is what's wrong."
"Brooke, I'm so sorry," Indianna apologised, her heart breaking as she looked at her best friend. "I never wanted this to happen."
"Indie, it's no one's fault," Brooke said softly. "I just never thought I would be spending Christmas with the man that has caused me so much pain."
"Just don't go," Lily said sharply. "Don't put yourself through that!"
"He said he wanted everyone to be there," Indianna whispered. "I wish there was a way to get out of this-"
"It's okay," Brooke said. "It's fine. We all just have to get on with it. It's one evening. I can manage that. No problem."
"Brooke-"
"It's fine!" Brooke said, her voice rising, and pulled away from Harry. "Just give me some space for a moment, Harry."
"Babe-"
Indianna forced a smile. "I would never."Greyson chuckled. "Are you not eating any more, sugar?"Indianna stared down at the food on her plate, feeling full. She had taken a lot more food than she could manage to consume. She shook her head.Greyson turned to his sister. "Has she actually eaten a decent breakfast?""Greyson, I've eaten!" Indianna argued.Kirstie rolled her eyes. "Trust your mate, you dick. She ate enough for a whole family.""Great. In that case." Greyson took Indianna's plate from her and sat down between the two girls, tucking into the remains of Indianna's breakfast."We better get organised," Mac said, running his hand along Kirstie's thigh. "We gotta a lot of men to get today.""No rest for the wicked," Kirstie sighed and jumped up from the floor. "Let's go tear down Rogue's empire, lover."Mac chuckled and let Kirstie pull him up from the floor. "Let's do this.""You know," Oscar said, furrowing his eyebrows as he stood up with Kirstie and Max , "you'd think th
DAY ONEIndianna was woken by Kal's snores, they were soft, but she had been struggling to sleep the whole night and now all she could focus on was Kal's heavy breathing. She sighed and turned over, trying to get comfortable which was rather hard with her bump. She was now looking at Greyson as he slept. He seemed so peaceful. His face was so calm and serene, she wished that he didn't have to wake up to the hell they were in.Greyson's eye twitched and Indianna knew that he was no longer asleep. He reached out, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his chest, resting his chin on her head and one hand on her stomach. *It's early, sugar, you should be asleep, not perving on me while I sleep.*Indianna chuckled slightly. *Sleep doesn't come easily these days.**Try,* Greyson pleaded. *It's 2am. You need your rest.**So do you.**I'm fine. I'm swapping watch duty with Oscar soon anyway.*The rest of the previous day was spent waiting anxiously for Oscar, Kirstie and Mac to ret
"Please don't call yourself that," Indianna said."It's true. I can't be trusted-""Would a monster feel remorse?" Indianna asked, cutting Tai off. "Do you think Rogue feels remorse over his actions?""That is different-""You are not a monster, Tai," Indianna insisted. "You didn't do what you did on purpose. As you said, you lost control. What happened has happened, it can't be taken back. The only thing we can do now is focus on the present. Tai, will you help us now?"It was a few moments before Tai acknowledged that Indianna had spoken. She pursed her lips and gave one sharp nod. "I need to wash this blood off of me," she said and turned on her heel and disappeared into Indianna's room.Indianna made her way to Greyson's room next. The scent of him surrounded her when she entered and she closed her eyes, caressing her bump. She didn't want to go without him. Indianna swallowed the lump in her throat and changed out of the clothes she had been wearing for dinner. Once she was in sw
"If I'd have known that talking to Brooklyn would change your mind then I would have suggested you do that as soon as you started to disagree with me."Indianna scowled at Greyson who smirked at her as she approached him. "Shut up."Greyson reached out and took Indianna's hand, pulling her towards him. "Thank you," he murmured."I'm still annoyed," Indianna grumbled and looked down at her feet, glaring."Hey." Greyson took Indianna's chin and tilted her head up. "Please don't be. You're keeping yourself and our children safe. That's the most important thing. Don't scowl at me, sugar.""You're important."Greyson smiled and kissed Indianna's forehead affectionately. "God, I love you, woman."Karl suddenly yelled from across the room. "They're here! Fucking hell, you took your time, lads! It's not like we're waiting for a psychopath to come and kill us or anything!""You just can't keep your mouth shut, can you?" Harry groaned, but made his way over to where Kal was now standing, over t
"Just me," Greyson croaked. "You know it's the smart thing to do. There's no point in slaughtering a whole pack.""You think I care about how many people I have control over? Do you think I care about that when my mate is lying dead in my arms!" Rogue roared. He threw Greyson to the side, kicking him onto the floor. "You will all die! I will kill you all for what you have done. None of you will live to see next week." Rogue looked down at Stacey and brushed her hair away from his face, smiling down at her. "Everything I will do to this pack will be for you, my love," he whispered. "I promise, I will make them suffer." He then walked towards the woods, not looking back at the pack. "If any of them try to leave, break their legs! I want them alive, for now!" Was the last thing Rogue said to his men before he disappeared. The rest of his men remained, but they retreated into the trees, out of sight, still there, but watching. The silence that followed next was deafening. No one said a wo
Nothing she could possibly say would help."Your pack killed my mate. SHE'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU. OF YOUR PACK! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!" His yells echoed in the woods surrounding them. "You..." He whispered. "You are going to pay."Indianna was too stunned to speak. She was vaguely aware of Greyson putting himself between her and Rogue, but that didn't stop Indianna from staring at her brother who looked ferocious. His eyes were dark, teeth bared, face red and he was spitting blood when he spoke. "You, little sister, are going to suffer. Your pathetic mate can't protect you. Your pack. No one. You are no different from our parents. I thought I could change you. Make you into a version of yourself that I could be proud of. Oh, how I was wrong.""J-Jason," Indianna stuttered, her words barely audible. "I didn't want this to happen-""I don't want your fake pity!" He roared and Indianna flinched. "I don't want lies! I want revenge!"*Sugar, you know I will die before I let him get to you.*H
