CHAPTER 3: GONE FOR A RESEARCH.

Delilah glanced at him curiously and he smiled.

" I'd hand over a few spare drugs to you and you'll make sure you pay me when you get the money, deal?" Doctor Mike smirked, stretching a hand forward and Delilah immediately clamped his hand with a broad grin, the back of her left palm fastidiously cleaning the brooding tears in her eyes.

" Thank you so much, Doctor. That's why Delilah loves you." She winked at him and he chuckled, adjusting his glasses.

" Don't just let my wife catch you doing that, I don't want a divorce now." The doctor warned teasingly and they chuckled as they walked to his office nearby.

Doctor Mike handed over the drugs to her and after thanking him for more than a million times, she remembered those men again, those faces, they were CEOs of course and maybe Doctor Mike was so afraid then because they were his bosses.

" Doctor," she called and Mike hummed, settling on his seat. " I saw those men, then, I'm sorry." She pouted.

" I know you wouldn't listen, it's fine." He waved it off with his palm.

" But, if I'm not mistaken, they're CEOs right?" She just wanted to be sure and Doctor Mike nodded even though he was already looking uninterested.

" Is there a problem?"

" No, no, it's fine. I'll be going now, Doc. Thanks a lot, I'll surely pay when I get it." Delilah waved and left.

They were the one, those CEOs who were partially one of the reasons their media house turned into ruins that it was now, it happened when a journalist in their media house brought a new scoop which was about one of them but before they could even try to investigate or publish it, their media house suddenly hit rock bottoms.

Even the said journalist was no where to be found till date and the scoop had mysteriously disappeared from all systems in their media house.

Another company who finally published some rumours about them found it's media company in the same ruins as theirs and now that she finally saw them, she could tell there was something really off about them.

If there was a bombing or robbery, it'd never touch the companies and properties of thode CEOs, what was she even saying?

Their companies were the ones dominating the whole of HY city in New York, this was her first time seeing those two she met in the hospital, they looked really exceptional.

" How about finding out about them?" That thought suddenly rang in her head, she was about to resist when she remembered the time given to her that she had to live?

" How about whiling away time? I'll find out about you guys, that's a promise now." Delilah smirked.

" But how?" She thought again but immediately recalled something, they were talking about leaving to somewhere the next day, right? It wouldn't be bad if she took her first step from there.

They sounded like they were going to somewhere really important and she must find out, she would find out!

=============

As Delilah expected, all the doors had been shut by the time she arrived home, she calmly walked to the backyard and steadily climbed on the fence that'd proffer a more suitable way that'd allow her entrance to her room, through the window.

" Oh no!" She gasped as her legs almost slipped, her face turned pale when her heart started it's troubles again, that was the main reason she usually avoided shock.

Any shocking thing could trigger her heart pains and she always prevented it but some time it was unpreventable.

She grinned satisfactorily as she finally entered her small, stuffy room even though the rooms in the house were all spacious and comfortable.

This was the one her aunt could find to give her, she was already used to her small stuffy room, the only thing she was quite thankful about was her wicked aunt giving her a roof to stay under, she knew the troubles she passed through during her schooling days.

No friends, no engagements with others, no halloween celebration or celebrating of other festivals all because of this her aunt who'd always find one thing or the other to stop her from celebrating when she allowed her own daughter to, disgracing her around her friends and other things she didn't even want to recall.

" Dawn? Tommorow? What do I do?" Delilah muttered, walking to and fro around her small room.

She sighed, pouring a much amount of pills into her palm, then grabbed a jug of water as she swallowed it down her throat.

" I should just get ready, that's it." She muttered again and like a light bulb lit in her head, she grabbed her laptop and typed a few buttons.

She glanced at the screen with a frown. " Those two pictures aren't on social media? This is getting more mysterious." She bit the cap of her pen then sighed.

" Whatever, it's all ending tommorow." She grinned and flung herself on the bed, her stomach growled but she ignored it, she didn't get the chance to visit her favourite restaurant.

Few hours later, Delilah flew up from the bed with sweats covering her face, it was obvious she just got rescued from a very bad nightmare.

" What was that?" She was still breathing hard and heavily as she looked around her small room like whatever she was so scared for was sitting in her room and staring at her.

She recalled that dark eyed man locked gaze with her then in the hospital, she could tell he saw her but why didn't he do anything and why was she seeing a different eyes in her dreams?

She sighed and grabbed the jug that was still lying on her nightstand and took a large gulp from it directly.

And about what she intended to do, she knew the one and only estates the elites in New York stayed and she knew they'd be living there, that was where she'd hide and stay till they show up, the securities weren't a huge task.

It was morning already even though she thought she only slept for a few hours, she put on a sweater, a jean trousers paired with one of her old black boot.

There was one thing she was planning to do now and she only prayed she succeeded else her aunt would take her to join her parents before her sickness did.

With a small bottle of clean water, her phone and her small bag, she packed her blonde, shoulder length hair in a ponytail and left the room, her aunt wasn't in sight so she guessed the witch was still in her bedroom.

Delilah knocked slowly and pushed the door open, her aunt was sitting on the sofa in her room and was glaring straight at her. " Good morning, Aunt."

" Go get a glass of water for me." Was her aunt's unconcerned reply but she simply bowed and left to the kitchen, this was exactly what she even wanted and what she was waiting for.

She fetched a clean glass of water and carefully looked around as she dropped a tasteless sleeping pill into the glass, she stamped her leg on the ground as she waited for it to dissolve and when it did, she dashed for her aunt's room.

" Here, Aunt." She carefully passed the cup to her Aunt who watched her with those scary maroon eyes for a moment then collected the glass and took a sip to Delilah's happiness.

" Aunt," she called slowly. " I'll be out for a while and might not return till it's night."

Her aunt simply hissed as she took another gulp. " Do I look like I care if you might not return or not? Don't get me angry."

" I'm sorry, Aunt. I'll be going now." Delilah sighed and was already leaving when her aunt called her back.

" Come here and take this, I'm okay." Her aunt said, stretching the glass of water remaining to her. Delilah slowly came forward and collected it as she rushed to the kitchen to dispose the water but her aunt's next order took her off her feets.

" Drink up, you wouldn't want me to get poisoned the same way your mother did to her husband, hmm? Drink, drink, drink else I'll kill you and fold your corpse up in the attic." Her aunt threatened and Delilah nodded, gulping the water down her throat as she tried all her best not to let those tears spill.

Her aunt wasn't worth her tears at all, she left to the kitchen and returned to see her Aunt sleeping like a log of wood already, she hissed and quietly took her aunt's car keys, skidding out of the house.

Her phone rang and it was their director, she simply hung up the call, she had to hurry up as she didn't know when they'd really leave.

She stared at her aunt's rickety, old car and shook her head. " Is this even a thing to be proud of?" Delilah hissed then grabbed the door open roughly as she drove off.

She quickly dialed Nina's number and the lady picked up at first ring. " Why weren't you picking the director's call, Dee?"

" There's no time for that babe, just kindly help me keep my identity card, I forgot it under my desk last night and pack up for me, I love you."

" Delilah, our company's almost getting auctioned off, some people came by this morning."

" That's Felix problem, not mine. I'm gone for a research, Nina. Take care of my little Gavin and don't call me for a while, I won't pick up."

" Dā€“" Delilah hung up, looking straight at something with a small grin, she wasn't too late.
