Chapter 10 - Decision

I've gathered flowers in a wide range of colors today. I plucked them from the mountaintop, and now I'm dropping them onto the cave floor. It's time to enchant them.

My lips move, and magic travel to my fingertips. Soon these flowers will never wither, and I will decorate the cave walls with them, so my dear mate will find it cozy here.

I spread my wings, letting my magic seep out from my skin. I focus hard and close my eyes, chanting the same verse repeatedly. These flowers won't wither. They won't!

My determination flows, and once I'm done, I open my eyes—only to hear someone clapping their hands behind me.

"Good work on that spell, son. Are they for your mother's grave? You have gathered a lot of them."

I turn around and lift my head. My father is standing at the entrance of the cave. He is much taller than me and wearing a feathered cloak. There are also some feathers in his long, black hair.
