Staying In

Chapter Ten

*************

Ashley stared at her puffy eyes in the mirror and sighed, she had cried all night thinking about what Hayden said to her and if she could get another job.

She didn't know why his words hurt her so much but they did, he really didn't have to be mean about everything he says.

“Ma’am, are you okay in there? You have been in there for a while now.” A maid said knocking on the door and she sighed.

“Am okay, I will be out in a minute.” She replied and wiped the tear that was about to roll down her eyes, she lazily took her bath and she walked out of the bathroom when she was done.

The maid in her room bowed on seeing her but she ignored the maid and entered her closet, she walked out of it minutes later dressed in a plain gown, and slowly sat on her bed.

“What’s your name?” She asked the maid.

“My name is Kira ma’am.”

“Okay Kira, can you bring my breakfast to my room? I really don't have the strength to go downstairs.”

“Of course ma’am, I will be back.”

The maid walked out and she picked up her phone, she sent a message to Bryan saying she needs to see him and she dropped her phone immediately once the message was sent.

The maid walked in minutes later with Butler Lucas and they were both carrying trays of dishes.

“Oh, good morning Lucas.” She greeted with a smile.

“Morning ma’am, you requested breakfast in your room.”

“Yes, Lucas and I would like to have my lunch and dinner in my room too.”

“Is everything okay ma’am?”

“Everything is fine Lucas.” She replied and he and the maid dropped the dishes on her table, they bowed before walking out and Ashley sighed as she walked to the table.

She started eating and her phone suddenly beeped, she walked to her bed and picked up her phone, it was a text from Bryan and she tapped on it.

“Morning Ashley, I will be busy today and tomorrow but I will try to visit tomorrow.” She read out loud and sighed, she dropped her phone on the bed and walked to the table to continue her meal.

Hours passed and it was time for lunch, a maid brought in her lunch and set it on the table. Ashley was getting bored and tired of staying in her room but she was determined not to see Hayden.

The maid set the table and head towards the door but Ashley called her.

“Yes ma’am?”

“You are Kira right?”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Okay, Is Hayden around?”

“Yes ma’am, he is.”

“Where is he?”

“His study room ma’am.”

“Has been home all day?”

“Yes, he has.”

“He knew I didn't come down for breakfast?”

“Yes but he never said a word about it, he never asked why you decided to eat in your room.” The maid replied and Ashley chuckled.

“Thank you, Kira.”

“You are welcome, ma’am.” She replied ad walked out, Ashley chuckled and a tear rolled down her eye, she doesn't know why it hurt so much but he did. He doesn't ever care to know the reason why she is in her room. What if she was sick?

Ashley sough and ran her hands through her hair.

Why does it hurt so much?

But on second thought, it was still the middle of the day and Hayden is a grumpy man, he could still show up.

Ashley decided to keep her hopes high and wait for him.

“He can still show up.” She muttered and smiled.

Hours passed again and it was night, Ashley’s dinner was brought to her room and still, there was no sign of Hayden showing up, she questioned the maid again and the maid told her Hayden is still around. This made Ashley so sad she couldn't have her dinner, she doesn't know why it keeps hurting her but she really wants Hayden to show up.

She sniffed as lay in her bed, she turned off the light and closed her eyes, she tried to force herself to sleep so she would stop thinking about Hayden.

After a while, Ashley was fast asleep and Hayden walked into her room, he looked around and slowly walked to her bed. He sat beside the bed and watched her as she slept. He notice the dried-up tears on her face and he sighed.

“Bryan had to get a drama queen.” He muttered and raised his hand to touch her hair but he stopped.

“Ashley, Hayden’s here.” He said and tapped her a bit, she slowly opened her eyes, stared at him for a while, and turned away from him. Hayden sighed as he heard her sniff again.

“Do you always have to cry?”

“Please go away.” She whimpered.

“Ashley.” He called and her cries answered him.

“Ashley come on, don't make a big deal over this.”

“Just go away, I don't want to see you.”

“Okay, well I just came here to ask you when are you leaving. Bryan texted me that you said you want to see him.” He said and she froze, she slowly sat up and turned to him.

“Are you for real?”

“Yes.”

“You mean, that was why you came to see me?”

“Why else will I come to see you?”

“Hayden, I have been in my room all day, you don't even care to know the reason why.” She said with tears streaming down her eyes.

“You are in your room because you choose to be there, the maids were bringing your meals to you which means nothing is wrong with you.” He replied and she scoffed.

“Get out!”

“I can't leave until I know when you are leaving.”

“Get out Hayden!” She yelled and Hayden fell on her bed.

“When are you leaving?” He asked as he lay comfortably on it.

“Get out Hayden!”

“Oh God, this isn't working.” Bryan muttered as he stared at them. He disappeared from the room and Hayden knew he has been watching them.
