Sacrifice

Camelia's POV

Tears ran down my face as I heard her question, "Mom?"

"Yes dear. I am your biological mother or as your thoughts say, 'your birth giver'." That stung but I couldn't blame her. Looking into her eyes, I can see how her life has been. I don't understand how Kam could let those mutts treat our daughter that way. She is of royal blood. 

Kam grabs my hand while rubbing my shoulder with his left. Looking into his eyes, I understand why he didn't interfere. We discussed this many times and fought almost every day before giving her up. She needed to be protected.

"Teresa, do not be angry with Camelia. She wanted to keep you...." Wrong choice of words my love because here came Teresa, damn near biting his head off.

"So, it was you then?! You didn't want me?!" Kam backed up with his hands in the air as she charged towards him. Pointing her finger at him. I chuckled a little because she definitely had his attitude. "And you...." Uh oh, maybe I shouldn't have chuckled so loud. "You think this is funny?! Allowing him to abandon your daughter. Not knowing what life, she was going to have by giving her to complete strangers. "

"They weren't strangers Teresa. They were your godparents." In shock, she became silent. "Look, let us start from the beginning. "

"No. I want to know why both of you decided to tell the truth now." Well at least she doesn't beat around the bush. I look over to Kam and he nods at me.

Taking a deep breath, I walk to her. Putting my hand out for her to grab, she looks confused. "Place your hand into mine and I will show you through my eyes."

"I don't understand." is all she could say.

"Please trust me my dearest star. You want answers and this is the only way I can give them. We must hurry though because my magic won't last long."

As she reached for my hand, she fell into pain. Holding her ankle, screaming in agony. 

"Camelia, what's going on? She didn't even touch you." Kam says, running to Teresa's side. He tries to examine her, " I don't see anything."

"My magic hides reality, remember?" I rolled my eyes as I brought reality back, but I wish I didn't. She was gushing out blood and fast. We couldn't do anything to help though. We were just projections, pre-recorded images, of our former selves. Tears ran down my face as I stared at the blood. Then I heard a muffled voice. It wasn't Kam or Teresa, but another male. A powerful wolf. I could not tell what he was saying but I needed to find out if he was a friend or foe. Looking over to my mate, I pull him from Teresa.

"You're going to leave me again. Right when I am dying." she spits out with venom.

"No. I'm trying to save you but doing so will leave you with no answers for your questions." I retorted, earning me a stunned look from my love. "I need to discuss with your father...."

"No, both of you listen to me. This is my life and I have a right to know what you are planning to do. Now spi...." Teresa collapses to the ground. She was losing color.

With no other choice, I give her some of my energy. She stirs a little. "There is a man next to you. I can look around and see if he can help, but it will use up all my magic. You will not get to ask us any questions. Maybe one, if we're lucky because I had to give you some of my energy just now."

"Do it." is all she says.

"It's too dangerous Camelia." Kam tried to protest.

"You heard her. I have to do this if it means saving her. That was the whole point of giving her up, right? To protect her, to save her from them." Without giving him a chance to change my mind, I push my psyche into her reality.

There was a man covered in her blood. Crying. Hyperventilating. Did he do this to my baby girl? I need to know the answer. I search through his mind and hear his wolf crying out for my daughter and her wolf. Heart completely broken. Mourning....mourning his mate. Backing away from the wolf, I continue to read the man's thoughts.

'I need to save her. There must be something I can do. I can't lose her just as I finally found my one true love.' His mind was running a thousand miles per second.

"Mark her.... Mark her and it will speed up her healing process. It's the only way you can save her." I rushed the words out my mouth as I was brought back to Teresa and Kam.

Kam grabs me as a begin to fall. "Are you ok? What happened? Teresa was complaining of a pain in her neck, then became still. Did someone harm our little girl?" I have not seen him this choked up since the day we gave her up.

" She's safe my love. There's nothing to worry about." I felt very weak but sensed a shift in Teresa.

And just like that, she spoke. "Thank you for saving me, but how?"

"This will be your one question Teresa. I cannot hold this dimension any longer." she nods her head in understanding. I give my mate a quick kiss on the cheek and answer her. "It was your mate."
