CHAPTER SIXTEEN

We’re not allowed to see Quill for the next two days so I watch the infirmary, trying to figure out Derek’s schedule so that I can sneak in when he’s out. Unfortunately, he barely leaves the infirmary. The only time he does is during breakfast to grab some food and return.

On the third day, I wait for him to leave, before sneaking inside.

The nurse isn’t there.

Abigail is still unconscious and I feel a stab of guilt as I pass her.

Quill is in another room and he’s awake when I enter.

His eyes widen, “Taylor!”

“Are you okay?”

He looks a little worn out. “Yeah. Derek’s been helping me.”

“Speaking of Derek,” I look over my shoulder. “I have ten minutes at best before I have to run. How is your head?”

He touches it. “Healed. I mean there’s a gash and all. Did you know I’m a werewolf?”

“No,” I grin. “But Beth is just like you.”

I pause. “You’re taking this surprisingly well. I thought you’d be freaking out.”

“Oh, I did,” he says with a small smile. “I had like a massive meltd
