Chapter 5

Ian's POV

"So..?" Desire asked with a tone of curiosity immediately she got into the car and made herself comfortable in the front seat.

"Seat belt Desire," I said after putting on my seat belt and starting the car.

"Aaarrrgghh!! You can be damn annoying, you know." Desire complained as she put her seat belt on. When she was done, she turned to look at me and I could tell from the look on her face that she was hell-bent on getting whatever information she could from me whether or not I was willing to tell her.

"So…?" She asked with a furrowed brow.

But I said nothing to her. I just kept my eyes on the road and continued driving.

"Come on cousin, spill it. You know I hate being kept in suspense." She said and I could hear the frustration in her voice.

I sighed. This girl was a handful, trust me and I could not avoid her even if I tried.

"What do you want to know?" I asked without taking my eyes off the road as I drove her to school.

"Everything. Who is she? Where did you guys meet? Do you love her?" Desire bombarded me with several questions that I didn't even know the answer to.

"Well Desire, I...eeeerrrrm don't know how to answer your questions," I said and sighed.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked, "Trust me, cousin, I will follow you around throughout today until you tell me what I need to know."

"Seriously?" I asked, taking my eyes off the road for a split second to see the look on Desire's face and judging from what I saw, she did seem serious.

"Hell yeah!! So you better start talking cousin." She said with an authoritative tone.

I didn't know what to tell her. How could I tell her that I just bumped into a stranger and found myself in a relationship with her? It sounded weird and untrue and I knew that Desire would think that I was lying to her.

"I met her at a friend's party." I lied not knowing what else to say.

"A friend's party? What friend?" Desire asked as if she knew that I was lying to her.

"A friend. My friend." I replied feeling slightly irritated.

"Oh well, if you say so. But how did you guys start dating? Was it love at first sight?" She asked again with a soft voice and gave me a light hit on my shoulder.

I smiled and shook my head. Desire knew just how to get on my good side no matter how upset or angry I would be.

"It was indeed love at first sight." I lied again wearing a mischievous grin on my face. "I was at a loss for words when I first saw her and I decided immediately that she had to be mine."

"Awwwnnn... that is so sweet." She said and hit me again lightly on my shoulder. "So you asked her out immediately?"

"Yes, Desire. I didn't want to waste any more time before someone else would take her away from me." I explained. The lies I was spilling were becoming more interesting and honestly, I was having fun telling them.

"I never knew you were such a romantic guy cousin." Desire teased. "Give me details. How exactly did you ask her out? Did she fall for your flirtations?"

"Well unfortunately I will most likely answer your questions some other time."

"What? Why?"

"We are here. Your school, remember?"

"Oh..." she muttered.

"Come on," I yelled. "Out you go. I don't want to be late for work."

Desire wore a look of disappointment on her face as she prepared to get out of the car. After all the looks she gave me, she finally stepped out but not without making me promise to tell her the remainder of the gist when she got back from school.

"Yes, Ma'am. Your wish is my command." I said. "We will talk later. Goodbye for now and have a nice day."

And with that, I drove off.

I wanted to go straight to work because I had lots of issues to attend to and it's all thanks to that girl. But I didn't, instead, I drove to the hospital.

I had to find out who this strange girl was. Why was she doing what she was doing? What or who was giving her the guts to do it? Was she being paid by someone? All these questions kept bothering me and I needed answers as soon as possible.

Immediately I arrived at the hospital, I went straight to the nurses' counter and asked to see a doctor. And well because of my popularity and wealth the nurses asked no question at all but instead one of them offered to take me to the doctor's office.

"Thank you," I said to the nurse with a smile as she opened the door to the doctor's office and gestured for me to go in.

"You're welcome, Mr. Ian." She replied with a blush evident on her face.

It was no surprise that she knew my name so I didn't say anything about it.

I nodded and walked into the doctor's office and the nurse closed the door behind me.

"Oh!! Mr Ian, what a surprise visit. It's a pleasure to see you." The doctor greeted me as soon as I stepped into his office.

"It's a pleasure to see you too doc," I said and offered him a handshake.

"Please have a seat." He said as he gestured for me to sit down.

"Thank you," I replied and sat down.

"So what brings you here?" The doctor asked with a smile on his face.

I cleared my throat before I began to speak. "Well, I am here to inquire about a lady. I believe she was recently treated here and I would like to know who she is."

The doctor who was smiling immediately stopped smiling and stared at me with a frown on his face.

I noticed the change in his expression and knew that I had said something wrong. "I'm sorry. I didn't …."

But before I could complete my sentence the doctor held his hand up and said, "I'm sorry Mr Ian but we don't give information about our patients to random persons."

"I understand but I am not a random person."

"Are you her family? If not then you are a random person."

"Come on doc. This is important to me. I would not ask if it was not important."

"I'm sorry but I can't give you the information you are looking for." The doctor said with a tone of finality. "And if that's all you came here for then I'm sorry but you have to leave. I have so many patients to attend to."

"Fine. I will leave." I said angrily and stood up to leave. "But can you at least tell me her name?"

"I'm afraid I can not Mr Ian. Please leave and have a pleasant day."

I stood for a while, glaring at the doctor. The man was damn stubborn, I wished I could punch him and make him tell me what I needed to know. But I could not, I dared not. I walked out of his office feeling more awful than when I walked in.

I brought out my phone to see ten missed calls from my secretary Rhoda. I wondered why she had called. I had put my phone on silent earlier because I didn't want to be disturbed unnecessarily.

I sighed as I made my way towards the parking lot. I wanted to go to the office but I wasn't feeling up to it so I decided to home instead, take the day off and just relax.

But guess what? Immediately I stepped out of the hospital I was attacked by a group of journalists and before I could take one more step they all had their cameras out.

"Is she really pregnant?"

"How did you guys meet?"

"Are you both planning to get married?"

They bombarded me with several questions and I didn't know what to do or what to say.

"She said you guys are dating. Can you confirm if this is true? Are you guys really dating?" Another journalist asked, catching my attention.

I turned my attention towards him. At that moment I wanted to tell them that I was not in any relationship, that the so-called girl was just after my money and trying to set me up but I held myself back. Saying all of that was just going to cause me more trouble and stress and I didn't need that at all.

The questions kept coming in but I was at a loss for words. I didn't know what to say but one thing I knew was that I was going to get the truth of all this matter and how it started no matter what it was going to cause me.

I will find her. I had to.
