Secret crush (1)

"Some rest" Betty exclaimed right after the teacher had exited the classroom.

"It won't last long" Alicia responded staring at lily as if expecting a response.

"For the meantime, let us talk about something" Betty added excitedly. Alicia groaned in despair.

"What is it with you and boys?" Alicia asked with a somewhat riled expression.

"Not just any boy Alicia...the cute ones are really attractive don't you think?"

"They are Betty but I don't think those things entice me right now. Maybe when I enter college I might give thought into it" Alicia responded veraciously.

"Your such an egg head....why wait till then?" Betty snorted out.

"My self expected" Alicia growled.

"Well Matt is really funny and cute don't you think so?"

"Betty it is not up to a month we started school and you are already infatuated with matt?"

"It's called love nerd" Betty responded jokingly.

Alicia patted her forehead with her palm, turning to lily who had been silent all the while.

"You young monkey"

Betty focused her attention on lily who had been silent all along.

"Lily are you okay?"

"Yes I am"

"you look dismal" Alicia hinted out.

"Lily which of these boys suit your taste?" Betty asked

"I'm not really into that" Lily stammered

"Someone rational" Alicia exclaimed with excitement.

"Get that off lily and say the truth whose that secret crush of yours" Betty persuaded grinning ear to ear.

Lily fell silent for a while

"Is it Bernard?" Betty asked again. Lily turned towards the young Bernard that buried his face in his book. She shook her head indicating a No.

"Secret crush?" She asked again and Betty nodded. Alicia too became anxious to hear lily's reply.

"it's not Bernard. It's Jake....." She replied in a nether tone unconsciously.

There was a long silence from them both.

"Oh, my" they exclaimed excitedly.

"That was an excellent choice," Betty said

She became melancholic after she realized what she had said. Alicia stared at her for a lengthy period before a smile broke out on her face. She was about to say something when Mr. Andy walked into the class rendering the once lousy class taciturn. Lily became uneasy throughout the lecture, she cautioned herself severally trying to cool down the raging fire burning in her heart.

The rest of her days in Grade 1 were quite blissful for her and her friends.

Betty particularly always brought in Jake in their conversations which were depressing for lily. Whenever she saw Jake she developed cold feet and unknowingly began to walk faster to avoid any conversation with him. She paced around her room, talking to herself while reminiscing the embarrassing events that had occurred between her and Jake.

"I can't possibly be infatuated with him," she thought aloud. She fleetly opened her laptop and began to type in some words she needed to search online.

The signs that were shown to her proved that she was infatuated with him which troubled her a lot knowing well that it could result in something else, just as she was to shut down the system a certain feed caught her attention she clicked on it. Reading the first sentence brought an inexplicable joy to her chaotic heart. It read:

"Communication and contact build a relationship while contact cuts it off.

Following the principle that she read online, she felt more relaxed and sure that her feelings for Jake were dead and buried. Things didn't turn so well for Betty as they did for lily, her crush matt had asked Alicia out and to their surprise Alicia accepted and they became a couple ever since. Even though Lily was still puzzled at what happened she was still happy for Alicia and so was Betty.

"He's wasn't meant to be mine anywhere," she said

"Really?" Lily asked with a smile on her face.

Betty nodded as they walked towards their lockers.

Something caught lily's attention as her eyes hung open in shock.

"Lily...oh my God" Betty's mouth widened in shock.

They couldn't believe what their eyes had just seen, Sasha kissed Jake and was nipped his ear while the two girls watched.

Sasha was fair in complexion with short curly blonde hair, her eyes brown and quite saucy. She had her group in school and from their outspoken discussions lily had always known she had a huge crush on Jake but she waved it off with the fact that Jake would never feel the same way towards her since she thought he knew her as somewhat disdainful. But it seemed he had just proven her wrong.

"I can't believe my eyes Jake...kissed....." Lily screamed inwardly.

Betty had been talking to lily for a long time but she hadn't noticed her at all or even seen to remember that she was still there. She fumbled with her books aggressively

"That's enough," she said to herself.

She confidently walked briskly towards them, she was about to say something when Jake stared at me. She got lost in his eyes that she had forgotten what she wanted to say but looking into his eyes were blank with no single emotion reflecting on them. Lily broke the stare and ran off while Betty followed behind.

She didn't bother to check what happened next between them.

"Lily" Betty called out

"Don't take it hard on yourself" Betty consoled her.

Lily hugged her tightly as tears flowed down her cheeks, but Betty consoled her till she finally calmed down.

"You don't have to work yourself up like this Okay?"

Lily nodded.

"I'll drop you off at home but I'll see you tomorrow okay?"

Lily nodded in response again.

Betty understood that she needed some time alone and with that, she hugged her tightly and took her home.

...Lily face palmed me as she stood up from her bed.

"I can't do this" she murmured

She realized that she might have fallen for him over these weeks when she thought that her feelings were dead they had gotten stronger by the day.

She went to school the next day feeling better. Betty had told Alicia what happened the day before and she consoled me too in her way

"It is not a big deal," lily said faking a smile.

They were both shocked at her response but happy to see that she handled the situation well. Ever since then she acted like nothing ever happened even though deep inside she still had feelings for him.

Finally, in Grade 3 she had a strong urge to tell him how she felt she just couldn't hold back anymore.

"It's now or never"

But she didn't want Betty or Alicia to know about her plans because they would surely be against it.
