He kept staring at the floor until he heard her voice, she was up.

"I-Inez..." he stammered, and their gazes locked; she was already staring at him.

His eyes had lost their spirk, and it was unbearable for him to think that Avalyn had to go through all of that because of him, and even got killed in the most horrific manner possible.

"A-are you okay, baby?" he asked, his voice getting stuck in his throat as he tried to speak.

She remained staring at him without blinking, tears welling up in her eyes and dropping, but she didn't say anything.
