LORA'S POV
I'm exceptionally excited this morning not only because today is my eighteenth birthday but today is the day I will receive my wolf from the moon from the moon goddess. “Happy blissful birthday,” I greeted myself. Sinçe my father's death, my life has been nothing but a living hell. He used to be an Alpha but was sentenced to death after being accused of treason. Alpha Alec, of the Silvermoore pack, is so kind enough to bring me under his roof so I won't be met with the same fate. I pulled myself up, spread my bed and headed to the bathroom. I couldn't cease smiling under the shower as the water streamed down my skin. Why wouldn't I smile when Kyle had told me he had prepared a present for me on my birthday. Kyle is my only source of happiness since I've been living with Alpha Alec. They never regard me as part of the family. There's no difference between me and the maids in the pack house. Kyle is the only one who treated me like a human being and not a slave. I thought Alpha Alec took me into his home out of generosity that I was innocent of my father's crime but everything became clear to me when I stepped foot into the house. I was instructed to live in a bunker where rats and insects were my companions. I'm not even allowed to eat freshly cooked food but leftovers. I'm not allowed to use their plates. I'm forced to share plates with the family's dog. But Kyle is different. He's the one who would sneak into my room and give me fresh food when everyone is not around. He's the only one who would not hit me nor spat at me. “I'll surely make you my Luna once I become the Alpha of this pack. Then, nobody will hurt you.” This is one of the numerous promises he made to me when he confessed his love to me. Before he even wooed me, I'd already developed feelings for him. He's the only light in my merciless darkness and the reason I am enduring the hardships and torture from Alpha Alec and his family. I decided to pick the only quality clothes I had: the white floral gown Kyle bought for me during my last year's birthday. We have been in a relationship for three years now, though we kept it secret from the family. I await the day. Kyle would announce to the pack that I'm his girlfriend. I packed my black long hair backward with a rubber without allowing any strand to fall off before heading to the dining room to serve the family breakfast. This has been my daily activity to serve the family food since the last six years I got here. It does not matter whether today is my birthday or not, I have to serve them. I was taken aback when I got to the dining room. Everybody is there already. The table is set. Food has been served already. “Birthday girl, the one we've been waiting for is here,” Alpha Alec proclaimed, smiling widely at me as he strode towards me. “Blissful morning,” he greeted, before throwing a kiss ony forehead. I couldn't believe my eyes. What is it with this sudden kindness. I felt a little bit awkward by the scene before me because I haven't seen him smile at me that way. “Lora, come on, join us, we specially made this for you,” Natalie, Alpha Alec's wife, said, signalling her hand for me to come over to the dining table. I began to feel suspicious of them. For the past six years I've gotten here, I've never been given anything on my birthday. Not even a cake. So why are they doing this all of a sudden? Or, are they trying to poison me? I landed my gaze at Kyle who is also seated at the dining table, hoping to get answers from him. But when our eyes met, he was looking guilty and remorseful. At once, he averted his gaze. Why is he looking guilty? “Sit here, my beautiful Lora,” Alpha Alec said to me as he positioned me at the other side of the dining table, facing the whole family. “Happy birthday, Lora,” Sandra sneered at me as she raised her eyebrows. Damnit, the look on her face is telling me she knows something I don't know. Curiosity is killing me. What the hell is going on? I have the crazy urge to ask what they are planning. “What is going on?” I finally managed to ask as my brows furrowed. “Come on, Lora, it's your birthday. We have actually made this specially for you. And today is not only your birthday but the day you will receive your wolf,” Natalie claimed. “Well, I haven't been extended with this kind of approach since I've come here. So, sorry if I find it difficult to believe everything here,” I muttered. Alpha Alec's laughter suddenly cracked through the room before sipping the cappuccino before him. “Well, well, well. You are actually smart enough to deduce that this is more than your birthday or you receiving your wolf,” he said, throwing that devilish smile he used to pass to me since I got to his house. “We didn't do this because of your birthday, not because you are receiving your wolf today but because it's time for you to repay us all the kindness we showered you since you betrayed our pack.” “Uh-uhhh, what do you mean?” I asked, confusion etched on my face. “I'm very sure you are aware of the peace alliance with the Lycan king and other packs in this region?” he began. The Lycan king? He was not only a ruler of all the packs around but a tyrant. The devil himself. His name alone wreaked terror in the heart of all Alphas. It was rumored that his cruelty knew no bounds. And I'm well aware of the peace alliance in which all other Alphas agreed to send their daughters to the Lycan king as his concubines to stop them from betraying him. “I'm-mmm aware,” I stammered, already suspecting where he is heading to but I'm hoping I was wrong. “Perfect,” he said, nodding his head. “Then you should be excited to represent our pack to honor the alliance agreement that our pack signed in…….” “But the agreement stated that you should send your oldest daughter,” I cut him in his words. I don't want to believe what my mind is saying. “Lora, why do you think we adopted you? It's certainly for this reason,” he claimed, confirming what my mind has been saying. “Who is so crazy to give his real daughter to that savage ruthless Lycan King? I'm not crazy. I adopted you for this reason, Lora.” My heart shattered in pieces. What the heck? I'm always baffled for the reason Alpha Alec adopted me. Now, everything is clear to me. I shifted my gaze back to Kyle again, hoping to get some words to this , only for him to avert his eyes away. “Get yourself prepared for tomorrow's engagement. Do not disgrace our pack,” Natalie said. Silence engulfed me. My hand going to my mouth, holding a spoon with food is caught mid-air. I was taken aback by this. What would now happen to me and Kyle? How would I be married off to that beast? Different questions began spiraling in my head. I couldn't utter anything. I'm totally dumbstruck by what I just heard. Alpha Alec, his wife and Sandra left the dining room, leaving only me and Kyle. A perfect chance to speak with him about this world of mine crumbling at the moment. Kyle was about to leave when I confronted him. “Kyle, what do you see to this?” I asked. “I think we should run away from here. Since you love me and I love you, that's enough reason for us to run away.” Kyle sighed and before he replied me, “You have to do what my dad said.” I was shocked when I heard what he said. It took me minutes before I was able to talk. “What do you mean?” I asked, confusion cracking through me. “My dad will have to send my sister to that monster if you run away and I can't allow my sister to be married off to him.” I took a few steps back, realizing that he wasn't going to choose me. “So, you prefer me going to that monster than your sister, who is obligated to go, right?” Kyle stepped closer towards me, “Lora, I'm sorry I can't run away with you. You have to understand me. I can't leave everything here just to be with you.” I sighed deeply before I spoke, “Yeah. You are right. I'm sorry to have asked that in the first place.” “Thanks for understanding. If the Lycan king discards you, I'll get you back when I become an Alpha. ” Kyle said, before he pecked me and strode out of the dining room. It's not up to a minute that he left that a voice smirked behind me. “How audacious of you to ask my brother to snitch his family and the duties of the future Alpha of our great Silvermoore pack,” Sandra smirked. “That's none of your business. I love Kyle and he loves me too.” “Really? Wow. Did he tell you where he is heading to now?” Sandra asked, a mocking smile etching on her face. “He didn't. I know it's something crucial. But I trust Kyle.” “You think so?” Sandra's smirk deepened as she strode towards me, handing me a piece of paper. “That's Clara's home address.” “Clara?” I furrowed my brows in confusion. “ Who is Clara?” “She's actually Kyle's fiancee. And the future Luna of the pack.” I was shocked instantly. I tried to compose myself before her. “That's a lie. Kyle can't do that. I trust him,” I replied to her confidently. "He'd said he wouldn't choose any Luna except me.” “Then, I think you should visit them. That's the address in your hands.” “I don't need to do that. I trust my boyfriend.” Sandra's mocking laughter cracked through the room, a contrasting mood to the hell brewing in my mind I don't want to believe. “So pathetic. Do you think my brother would stand before the pack with a lowly maid like you beside her? Well, I'm telling you this as a payment for your sacrifice since you are going to replace me as Lycan king's concubine,” she said, leaving me shocked in the dining room. I gazed at the paper Sandra gave me in my hand. “No. Kyle can't do this. He loves me.”Immediately Seraphina got recovered enough to leave the infirmary, members of the pack surrounded her with words of praise and warm congratulations. Their joy made her feel strangely happy because they celebrated her as though she truly belonged with them. She had never known this kind of family feeling anywhere else. BloodMoon had never given her that, and neither had the people who raised her."Well done, Seraphina," one wolf told her, giving her a soft pat between the shoulders. "You just became part of our history.""I couldn't have done it without your training or the way you all welcomed me," Seraphina replied, her eyes moving toward Alpha Valker, who was too busy smiling at his people to notice her. "You took me in without asking too many questions. You gave me a chance and pushed me harder than anyone ever had before. Because of that, I became stronger.""You're basically a hero now," another pack member said, staring at her with wonder.Seraphina's blushed at the praise, thou
Seraphina opened her eyes and found herself lying in a room she did not recognize. She felt pain throbbed inside her head, leaving her confused. She tried to piece together the events of everything that happened before she passed out, but her memories were unclear. After a short while, she remembered that she was inside the pack's medical room. The only clear memories she had were shifting into her wolf and protecting the pack. She also recalled Valker ordering his warriors to chase the rogues, but everything after that was missing. She blinked several times and studied the room around her. With a weak groan, she tried to rise, but her body still had little strength. "Don't push yourself," a woman beside her said. "You've already been through enough."Seraphina turned toward the voice and saw a young woman with a blonde hair sitting beside the bed. "Who are you?" she asked with rough voice. "My name is Vivian," the woman replied with a gentle smile. "I'm one of the pack nurses. You s
Seraphina remained in the middle of the pack's training field, breathing hard as she struggled to match everyone else. Sweat ran down her face, while every part of her body hurt with every move she made. She was gasping for air as she paused from the hard workout. Her muscles throbbed with pain, and she felt as though her legs could fall at any moment. Never in her life had she been this worn out. She started wondering why she had even stepped into the training field in the first place. She should have kept her distance, just as she had done ever since the sessions started. Yet Valker kept drawing her attention, and her wolf longed to see him, so she had come to take a quick look. Now, she felt as though she might pass out. Jason gave her a wink, and she knew exactly what he meant. The private one-on-one trainings she had shared with him were nothing compared to this. She glanced around and noticed that the other pack members were still working with Alpha Valker, who looked as
Valker was highly upset. He had never dealt with an opponent like the witch before. He became an Alpha when he was still very young and had to push back many troublemakers and older wolves to hold on to his land. But those foes were wolves like him; they were always known and easy to see. The witch? The witch was nothing like that. Her strength was dangerous, and no matter how much he tried, he could not figure out what she wanted. He spent many long hours with his warriors, trying to make a plan to stop her, but she was always ahead of them. It was one strange and unexpecting attack after another.Nobody had been injured yet. It was only smaller spells mixed with heavy dark magic that had people running in every direction. Deep inside, Valker knew she was coming. He knew that soon the witch would do something that would push him over the edge and the whole matter made him uneasy. As Valker moved through the woods with the scouts, they could feel the witch's evil presence, but they c
Seraphina was exhausted from just sitting and doing nothing all day. The dullness and inactivity were wearing her down. Because she spent every day doing nothing and waiting for Valker, she had too much time to think about her situation. Maybe, if she had something to keep her mind busy, she would not have time to question her life or wonder why things were so unfair to her. At BloodMoon Pack, she always had something to do; whether working as the Luna, finishing pack duties, or working as Darius's slave. She had once prayed that the Moon Goddess would give her rest because she was always pushing too hard and had no time for herself. Seraphina also knew that the pampering and gentle care here would not get her anywhere or set her free. She had wanted freedom for a long time, and plus she was bored and needed something to fill her days. She knew she had to do something, to find a reason and feeling of worth in her life, so she made a choice to start working to pay back her debt.
Seraphina stepped into the pack house and saw Valker standing there waiting for her. His face was clapsed with rage. "Hey, what's happening?" Seraphina asked, feeling the strain in the atmosphere at once. She chose to act as though she had no idea what she had done."You know very well what's happening," Valker muttered in a cold and threatening tone. "You embarrassed me at the Café. I told you to come back with me, but you brushed me off as if I didn't matter." Seraphina lifted her brow. "I didn't brush you off. I couldn't just walk away like that."Valker let out a cold laugh. He had nearly lost his mind when he found out she was nowhere around, only to discover her with Jason, who appeared to enjoy provoking him."You've become bold. Do I need to remind you who and what you are? You answer back to me now? Has my mark made you this fearless?""What is it?" Seraphina shouted, and her wolf let out a weak sound. It hated the fight between them. "You said I'm nothing. You remind me eve
