I'm exceptionally excited this morning not only because today is my eighteenth birthday but today is the day I will receive my wolf from the moon from the moon goddess. “Happy blissful birthday,” I greeted myself. Sinçe my father's death, my life has been nothing but a living hell. He used to be an Alpha but was sentenced to death after being accused of treason. Alpha Alec, of the Silvermoore pack, is so kind enough to bring me under his roof so I won't be met with the same fate. I pulled myself up, spread my bed and headed to the bathroom. I couldn't cease smiling under the shower as the water streamed down my skin. Why wouldn't I smile when Kyle had told me he had prepared a present for me on my birthday. Kyle is my only source of happiness since I've been living with Alpha Alec. They never regard me as part of the family. There's no difference between me and the maids in the pack house. Kyle is the only one who treated me like a human being and not a slave. I thought Alpha Alec took me into his home out of generosity that I was innocent of my father's crime but everything became clear to me when I stepped foot into the house. I was instructed to live in a bunker where rats and insects were my companions. I'm not even allowed to eat freshly cooked food but leftovers. I'm not allowed to use their plates. I'm forced to share plates with the family's dog. But Kyle is different. He's the one who would sneak into my room and give me fresh food when everyone is not around. He's the only one who would not hit me nor spat at me. “I'll surely make you my Luna once I become the Alpha of this pack. Then, nobody will hurt you.” This is one of the numerous promises he made to me when he confessed his love to me. Before he even wooed me, I'd already developed feelings for him. He's the only light in my merciless darkness and the reason I am enduring the hardships and torture from Alpha Alec and his family. I decided to pick the only quality clothes I had: the white floral gown Kyle bought for me during my last year's birthday. We have been in a relationship for three years now, though we kept it secret from the family. I await the day. Kyle would announce to the pack that I'm his girlfriend. I packed my black long hair backward with a rubber without allowing any strand to fall off before heading to the dining room to serve the family breakfast. This has been my daily activity to serve the family food since the last six years I got here. It does not matter whether today is my birthday or not, I have to serve them. I was taken aback when I got to the dining room. Everybody is there already. The table is set. Food has been served already. “Birthday girl, the one we've been waiting for is here,” Alpha Alec proclaimed, smiling widely at me as he strode towards me. “Blissful morning,” he greeted, before throwing a kiss ony forehead. I couldn't believe my eyes. What is it with this sudden kindness. I felt a little bit awkward by the scene before me because I haven't seen him smile at me that way. “Lora, come on, join us, we specially made this for you,” Natalie, Alpha Alec's wife, said, signalling her hand for me to come over to the dining table. I began to feel suspicious of them. For the past six years I've gotten here, I've never been given anything on my birthday. Not even a cake. So why are they doing this all of a sudden? Or, are they trying to poison me? I landed my gaze at Kyle who is also seated at the dining table, hoping to get answers from him. But when our eyes met, he was looking guilty and remorseful. At once, he averted his gaze. Why is he looking guilty? “Sit here, my beautiful Lora,” Alpha Alec said to me as he positioned me at the other side of the dining table, facing the whole family. “Happy birthday, Lora,” Sandra sneered at me as she raised her eyebrows. Damnit, the look on her face is telling me she knows something I don't know. Curiosity is killing me. What the hell is going on? I have the crazy urge to ask what they are planning. “What is going on?” I finally managed to ask as my brows furrowed. “Come on, Lora, it's your birthday. We have actually made this specially for you. And today is not only your birthday but the day you will receive your wolf,” Natalie claimed. “Well, I haven't been extended with this kind of approach since I've come here. So, sorry if I find it difficult to believe everything here,” I muttered. Alpha Alec's laughter suddenly cracked through the room before sipping the cappuccino before him. “Well, well, well. You are actually smart enough to deduce that this is more than your birthday or you receiving your wolf,” he said, throwing that devilish smile he used to pass to me since I got to his house. “We didn't do this because of your birthday, not because you are receiving your wolf today but because it's time for you to repay us all the kindness we showered you since you betrayed our pack.” “Uh-uhhh, what do you mean?” I asked, confusion etched on my face. “I'm very sure you are aware of the peace alliance with the Lycan king and other packs in this region?” he began. The Lycan king? He was not only a ruler of all the packs around but a tyrant. The devil himself. His name alone wreaked terror in the heart of all Alphas. It was rumored that his cruelty knew no bounds. And I'm well aware of the peace alliance in which all other Alphas agreed to send their daughters to the Lycan king as his concubines to stop them from betraying him. “I'm-mmm aware,” I stammered, already suspecting where he is heading to but I'm hoping I was wrong. “Perfect,” he said, nodding his head. “Then you should be excited to represent our pack to honor the alliance agreement that our pack signed in…….” “But the agreement stated that you should send your oldest daughter,” I cut him in his words. I don't want to believe what my mind is saying. “Lora, why do you think we adopted you? It's certainly for this reason,” he claimed, confirming what my mind has been saying. “Who is so crazy to give his real daughter to that savage ruthless Lycan King? I'm not crazy. I adopted you for this reason, Lora.” My heart shattered in pieces. What the heck? I'm always baffled for the reason Alpha Alec adopted me. Now, everything is clear to me. I shifted my gaze back to Kyle again, hoping to get some words to this , only for him to avert his eyes away. “Get yourself prepared for tomorrow's engagement. Do not disgrace our pack,” Natalie said. Silence engulfed me. My hand going to my mouth, holding a spoon with food is caught mid-air. I was taken aback by this. What would now happen to me and Kyle? How would I be married off to that beast? Different questions began spiraling in my head. I couldn't utter anything. I'm totally dumbstruck by what I just heard. Alpha Alec, his wife and Sandra left the dining room, leaving only me and Kyle. A perfect chance to speak with him about this world of mine crumbling at the moment. Kyle was about to leave when I confronted him. “Kyle, what do you see to this?” I asked. “I think we should run away from here. Since you love me and I love you, that's enough reason for us to run away.” Kyle sighed and before he replied me, “You have to do what my dad said.” I was shocked when I heard what he said. It took me minutes before I was able to talk. “What do you mean?” I asked, confusion cracking through me. “My dad will have to send my sister to that monster if you run away and I can't allow my sister to be married off to him.” I took a few steps back, realizing that he wasn't going to choose me. “So, you prefer me going to that monster than your sister, who is obligated to go, right?” Kyle stepped closer towards me, “Lora, I'm sorry I can't run away with you. You have to understand me. I can't leave everything here just to be with you.” I sighed deeply before I spoke, “Yeah. You are right. I'm sorry to have asked that in the first place.” “Thanks for understanding. If the Lycan king discards you, I'll get you back when I become an Alpha. ” Kyle said, before he pecked me and strode out of the dining room. It's not up to a minute that he left that a voice smirked behind me. “How audacious of you to ask my brother to snitch his family and the duties of the future Alpha of our great Silvermoore pack,” Sandra smirked. “That's none of your business. I love Kyle and he loves me too.” “Really? Wow. Did he tell you where he is heading to now?” Sandra asked, a mocking smile etching on her face. “He didn't. I know it's something crucial. But I trust Kyle.” “You think so?” Sandra's smirk deepened as she strode towards me, handing me a piece of paper. “That's Clara's home address.” “Clara?” I furrowed my brows in confusion. “ Who is Clara?” “She's actually Kyle's fiancee. And the future Luna of the pack.” I was shocked instantly. I tried to compose myself before her. “That's a lie. Kyle can't do that. I trust him,” I replied to her confidently. "He'd said he wouldn't choose any Luna except me.” “Then, I think you should visit them. That's the address in your hands.” “I don't need to do that. I trust my boyfriend.” Sandra's mocking laughter cracked through the room, a contrasting mood to the hell brewing in my mind I don't want to believe. “So pathetic. Do you think my brother would stand before the pack with a lowly maid like you beside her? Well, I'm telling you this as a payment for your sacrifice since you are going to replace me as Lycan king's concubine,” she said, leaving me shock ed in the dining room. I gazed at the paper Sandra gave me in my hand. “No. Kyle can't do this. He loves me.”Lora's POV "You should be thanking me. I actually managed to make your face a little less horrible. At least you might not be rejected on your first night at the palace," Sandra said while brushing more makeup over my bruises. The marks on my face were from her father's hands."It surprises me that you believe you will escape punishment for this," I retorted. Her eyes turned cold. I could see she didn’t like what I said. She deliberately pushed the brush against my swollen lips on purpose, and I gasped in pain."I will allow your foul mouth today. Think of it as a gift from me," she smirked, smiling in the most irritating way.I rolled my eyes at the mirror. There was no point arguing with her. She gave me a sharp look as if warning me, but I ignored it.Growi g up as the only child of my father, I had always wanted a sister, someone to talk to, someone to play with and share moments with. So,when Alpha Alec adopted me, I thought Id finally got that chance. But I was wrong. What I
LORA'S POVIn thirty minutes time, I would be standing before the Moon Goddess to receive my wolf. The thought alone made my chest tightened. For the first time, I would not be alone. I would finally have someone who would stay with me forever.I wore the plainest white dress I could find in my closet. It wasn't new, but it was clean and simple. On my head, I placed a small flower crown I made myself. It was the only pretty thing I owned, and I wanted to wear it when I faced the Moon Goddess.“Am I seeing a crown? Really? So pathetic, Lora.”I flinched as Sandra barged into my room without knocking. Her voice dripping with scorn. “So, how’s the little gift I gave you yesterday? Did it open your blind eyes?” she asked, her tone cutting through me. “Yes, thank you. It saved me from wasting my love on someone weak," I said honestly. At least now I won’t waste my love on someone who was never going to fight for me.She scoffed, stepping closer. I could see the anger fueling in her face
LORA'S POVI felt a sharp pain in between my thighs when I woke up, a wild reminder of everything that occurred last night, his huge arm resting heavily on my tummy. My heart hammered repeatedly as I quickly muffled my mouth, afraid of the fact that any sound from me could wake him up. Scenes of last night rushing through my head, vivid and undeniable. I had executed my dangerous plan. I had slept with a strangerI shifted my head back and gazed at the man sleeping beside me. He was strikingly handsome even in sleep.I made concerted effort to memorize every lines of his face very well because there's no chance of us meeting again as I would soon be the Lycan king's concubine. If, perhaps, I came to this world again, I would wish to meet him. He looked very dangerous from afar, but in bed, he's superb, gentle, his body very calm against mine. Having stared long enough, I meticulously slided his arm off my tummy, holding my breath as hard I could and slipped out of the bed. I was rel
Jasper's POV I stretched my arms slowly as I woke, my head feeling heavy. I couldn’t remember the last time I truly slept well. When I opened my eyes, the clear blue sky filled my view through the glass wall of the hotel room. This had become a quiet routine for me. I would disappear to some local bar where no one knew who I was. I always took the elixir my mage made for me, the one that hid my long golden hair until morning. It was the only way to move unnoticed. I usually made sure to wake up before the woman beside me did, to leave without a trace. But this morning was not like the others. The bed beside me was cold and empty the moment I opened my eyes. If not for the red stain on the white bedsheet, I would have thought it was all just a dream. “Who was that woman, and what did she do to me?” I muttered under my breath. I wasn’t the kind of man who slept deeply. Even the smallest movement beside me could wake me. Last night, I remembered holding her close, my arms tight ar
Lora's POVI ended up in a grand hotel room, unsure of how we got here. The hotel screamed high-end comfort with sleek decor and plush furnishings everywhere. But I did not give a damn about any of that. My thoughts were whirling from the alluring scent dripping from the man before me. It was as if I was in a storm and everything else just vanished away. The scent of this man warped around me, making me lose memory of everything. It was his scent that was difficult to describe, but it was intoxicating, a combination of the natural smell of his skin and his perfume. Truthfully, I wasn’t concerned about how we got here. What mattered to me was that j I was with him, lost in his presence. The hotel room we were in felt like a king's room, complete with a massive bed piled high with thick cushions and rotund pillows that begged to be used. The setting in the room felt luxurious. But all this couldn't hold my attention. My mind was focused on the man whose luscious lips were pressed
Lora's POVI felt I'm betraying Kyle when I took a vehicle heading to the so-called Clara's address. I wanted to trust Kyle but one part of me is saying otherwise. At least, Sandra had no reason to lie to me, giving me enough reason to reason that this might be true. Another part of me is praying Sandra lied to me.I felt my heart pounding heavily as I dropped by Clara's house. My heart skipped a heartbeat when I saw Kyle's Toyota car, parked at the front of the house. I dragged my legs towards the door, the realization of what Sandra said coming into view but still hoping positive. At least I have to hear this from Kyle himself. I took a heavy breath as I stood before the door. I stretched my hand to press the doorbell when I stopped my hand mid-air. I'm thinking whether to press the doorbell or not. My heart is terrified to know the truth. I turned back to leave. But I had not taken three steps when the door swung open, revealing a very stunning lady, smiling beautifully at me
