LOGINLucian Rostova, green eyes, dimples on his cheeks, six feet tall, drop-dead gorgeous, and extremely wealthy. Lucian was every woman’s dream, but he showed no interest in any until the moment he set his eyes on Amara.
Something about how she behaved intrigued him, so he spent the entire time watching her until he was interrupted by his friend. Seeing her extremely drunk and throwing up in his toilet made him wonder if it was another sign.
After Asher had left, Lucian walked over to the bathroom and held Amara’s hair away from her face as she puked her guts out.
“My head is spinning!” She groaned as Lucian helped her stand.
A crazy part of him felt angry at her for being so reckless. She could have fallen prey to any asshole in this state.
Amara wasn’t even aware of where she was or the fact that she was with a man when her body touched the mattress; her eyes shut down, and she fell asleep.
Lucian smiled at the beauty lying in his bed. To him, she had the most beautiful face and body he had ever laid eyes on.
He carefully took her shoes off and grabbed a soft blanket, and covered her. “Are these pajamas?” He asked in a shocked whisper shaking his head.
“You’re one interesting mystery, princess.” He whispered in his deep voice and walked back to his work desk.
Lucian was the only son of Remmy Rostova. A tech legend who had built a powerful company that was focused on technology and drugs, which they were in charge of supplying to the entire Laxon city.
Remmy was about to retire and hand over the company to Lucian on the condition that he finds a wife before his thirtieth birthday. Lucian was reluctant until he set his eyes on Amara.
Something about her drew him close to her, and he didn’t want to leave her side ever again. As Amara twisted and turned, Lucian’s eyes traveled to the shiny diamond ring that was on her left finger, which made his heart sink.
‘She’s married?’ He asked in disappointment.
His disappointment turned into worry when Amara started crying in her sleep, gripping the blanket tightly. “Please, Brandon! I’m innocent. Believe me! I'm your wife how can you hit me?” She cried.
Lucian held her shoulders gently and called out to her, but he didn’t know her name, so he just used a pet name, “Princess, you’re safe. Please wake up.” He whispered as he fought the urge to grab her and pull her into a hug.
Amara whimpered until her eyes finally opened and she sat up, grabbing onto Lucian, “Who are you?! Why are you in my room?” She tightened her grip, but her hands were so soft that Lucian wanted to laugh.
“Take your pretty hands off me, love. That ring on your finger is making me uncomfortable.” He said in his deep, calm voice with a hint of an accent.
Amara looked at her finger and froze midway. ‘This isn’t my room!’ Panic started to creep into her chest as the realization of where she was hit her.
Memories of how she got there flashed in her mind, and a look of horror replaced her confused face. She jumped from the bed, but her leg was hooked into the blanket, and she almost landed face flat on the floor if Lucian hadn’t held her. “Careful.” He said.
His voice sent a shiver down her spine as she jumped away from him like he had set her on fire,
Lucian smiled, his dimples showing as he stood from the bed to make her comfortable, “You had too much to drink and passed out.” He explained to help her understand the situation.
Amara was speechless as her heart pounded wildly against her chest while she stood to put her shoes back on. “Thank you!” She said as she sprinted for the door and ran away.
Amara rushed back into the club, but it was more crowded than before. She tried to look for her phone, but she couldn’t remember where she had left it. “Great! Well done, Amara!” She hissed at herself as she rushed outside.
The cold wind slapped her the moment she stepped out, and her jaw was almost on the floor when she realised that it was dark, which meant it was past 8 PM.
“Selene must be losing her mind!” Amara said to herself as she walked to the sidewalk and hugged herself to keep her body warm, not knowing how she would go back home when she had no phone or purse.
Just as she was looking around, A tinted black SUV parked right where she was standing and flashed its lights as the windows dropped, revealing the last person Amara wanted to run into. “Get in,” Lucian said.
“No, thank you,” Amara responded flatly.
“Are you sure? This is a dangerous neighborhood, and from what I can see, you have no phone or money, and I’m the only shot you’ve got.” He challenged.
Amara thought about it for a few minutes before she walked towards the car and joined him. ‘The man watched me sleep. If he’s a serial killer, then my time has come!’ She said.
Lucian leaned forward and brushed past her as he placed the seat belt over her, his scent hitting her nose like a drug she knew she’d get addicted to.
‘Is he just a gentleman or have I just been desperate for attention? I mean, look at him and look at me.' She thought as Lucian started the engine.
Amara's heart sank as fear gripped her. She had been pranked so many times by hot guys only to end up a laughing stock. She looked around for any sign of a camera or hot girls waiting to see the fun show.
"Where is it?" She asked.
"Where is what?" Lucian responded.
"The camera."
"What's your address?" Lucian asked instead.
Seeing his jaw tighten, Amara didn't want to anger a man who could kill her right here and now. So she simply accepted her fate and gave him the address.
She expected him to take her to an abandoned building where the others were waiting but was shocked when her house came into view.
"You brought me home?" She asked, in disbelief.
Lucian turned to face her, "Where did you think I was taking you?"
"I ahhh.." Amara stuttered not knowing what to say.
As they reached outside the iron gates, Amara turned to face Lucian. “You can just drop me off here. Thank you for your help.”
Lucian ignored her and sounded the horn, making Amara almost jump out of her skin. She whipped her head toward him,
”What are you doing?” She asked.
“I’m not leaving you outside the gate like your sneaky link. You had a crazy day. I’ll leave once I see you walk into your house.” Lucian said casually as the guards opened the iron gates and he drove in.
Amara’s heart was beating wildly against her chest as she started to panic, ‘How will I explain what I’m doing in such an expensive car alone with a man at this hour?’
“Relax, I don’t think your husband will kill you just because someone looked out for you.” He said.
“You don’t understand. Brandon misunderstands everything.” Amara half-whispered and regretted having opened her mouth about her marital issues.
‘This isn’t like me, what the hell is wrong with me?’ She wondered turning her head to thank Lucian when her heart stopped as she looked into his eyes.
She couldn’t see him clearly because it was slightly dark, but the bit of light was enough to show that he was God’s best creation. His next words pulled her back to reality,
“Does he hit you?”
“No.” Amara’s face turned a deep shade of pink as the memory from earlier flashed before her.
“Thank you once again.” She said as she quickly stepped out of the car to avoid embarrassing herself any further. The last thing she wanted was for the stranger to know her marriage was on the rocks.
As she stepped out, she rushed forward and opened the front door slowly praying silently for Brandon to be anywhere but the kitchen.
Closing the door behind her, the lights went on, and a very angry-looking Brandon was standing in front of her.
“Where the fuck have you been, and whose car did you just come with, Amara?”
“Amara?” Lucian called when he returned from the call and found that she wasn't in the water anymore.Silence.Lucian panicked and ran straight to his room and found it empty. He then ran to her room and found her cuddled on the bed with the lights very deemed. His pounding heart seemed to slow down the moment he saw that she was alive and safe. However, his brows met in concern when he noticed how she had shut him off. He was about to take a tep forward when she spoke, “I just want to be left alone, please.”“Is there anything else I can do to make you feel better?” He asked softly.“Not right now.” Amara’s voice was clipped and cold. Lucian nodded as he turned and shut the door softly behind him, hoping the following morning would be better, but he couldn’t have been more wrong. The days that followed were worse, and Lucian felt she had started slipping away.It began with small things—Amara’s absent-minded nods, the way her laughter faded into polite smiles, the way her warmth seem
Brandon froze at the sound of the voice, his grip loosening slightly. Slowly, he turned his head to see Lucian standing in the doorway, his face carved in fury, his eyes a storm of rage, and a gun leveled directly at Brandon’s head.“I warned you,” Lucian growled, his voice low and lethal. He stepped forward, his finger itching on the trigger. “You just couldn’t stay away.”Brandon smirked, trying to mask his fear. “Oh, look who finally decided to show up. What’s the matter, Lucian? Scared I’ll tell her the truth about you?”Lucian didn’t answer. Instead, in one swift move, he holstered the gun, lunged forward, and grabbed Brandon by the collar, slamming him against the wall with bone-crushing force. The room shook with the impact, and Brandon’s smirk disappeared as Lucian’s fist connected with his jaw in a brutal punch.“You dare lay a fucking hand on her?” Lucian roared, his voice echoing with the force of his fury. His fists rained down on Brandon, each strike harder and more mercil
“Thought you could run from me?” he mocked, crawling over her as she struggled, his breath hot and vile against her face. His hand moved, fingers cruelly tracing down her jaw, sending chills of repulsion down her spine. She summoned every ounce of strength left in her body, twisting and scratching, her nails catching on his skin, drawing blood. He grunted in pain, momentarily losing his grip, and she used the moment to claw her way out from under him. Her vision was blurry, her lip throbbing, but she refused to let him break her.“Brandon,” she managed, her voice dark and steady as she glared at him from the ground, “You’re nothing but a pathetic coward. You’ll never be an ounce of what Lucian is.” The anger in his eyes flashed, his fists tightening. She knew he’d lost control. But that was what she wanted. Because she was going to use the rage to blind him and then escape.“Maybe you’re right,” he hissed, grabbing her by the hair, yanking her close, his voice low and venomous. “But i
“Brandon?” she whispered, her voice barely more than a strangled gasp. What the hell was he standing in front of her for? “How’d you get out?” She asked, her voice laced with irritation. His eyes were red, and he smelled like alcohol. That made sense because there was no way he would visit her in his right mind after escaping prison unless he had been watching her.Waiting for a moment when she was all alone.“Miss me, baby?” he asked. His once bright brown eyes now dull, and his teeth yellow. He looked completely different from the man she was married to.. He took a step forward, and she backed away instinctively, her heart pounding in her chest. “But why don’t you look happy hmm?”“Brandon, you need to leave. Lucian will be here any minute.” She said, hoping he wouldn’t see through her lie.Brandon paused, “You do care for me don’t you baby? That your little ass boyfriend will find me with you. Hahaha. But you see babe, we have two problems.” He ran his filthy hand across her che
“Hey you?” Amara smiled into the phone. After the crazy day she had, only Lucian’s voice could make it better. Unknown to her, his day wasn’t so great either, so he had called her because her voice always made him feel better. It was like a soothing tonic with a special formula. “How’s my girl?” His deep voice reached her ears, making her lips curve into a shy smile as her face reddened from blushing.“She’s good. How’s her ma..” She stopped herself and bit her bottom lip.Would he get mad if she called him her man? The thoughts raced through her mind, and she hesitated, hoping he hadn’t picked up on her slip. She could almost picture his smirk on the other end of the line, a knowing glint in his eyes or worse, a look of disgust, and that made her heart sink under her feet.. “Go on, finish your sentence,” he teased, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. “How’s her what?”Amara bit her lip, feeling both nervous and thrilled. She’d never said it out loud before, but maybe now was t
“Thank you for meeting us, Miss Ashford.” One of the directors smiled.Amara leaned back in her chair. She knew the men sitting before her were not in the slightest way interested in her well-being. But they were interested in the company because they had dedicated their entire lives to it.“The pleasure is mine, Mr. Wellingtone. I know how much you truly love the company, and I want to assure you that I'll work my hardest so the divorce doesn’t cause us problems.” Amara smiled, but Bob was a long way from showing her smiles. He was all business, all the time.“That’s good, but your divorce and whatever has gone wrong in your life is the least of my concerns. Your mother’s scandal, however, is another issue because it has made us take a hit due to our merged companies. How do you plan on fixing that?” He asked, threading his fingers together as he spoke.Amara leaned back in the chair, her eyes blazing with fire as she responded, “Then we change the management. Brandon has to go, too,
