-SIENNA-
"The lady said no", I recognized Matt’s voice before I even spotted him.
The guy with the greasy haircut and the too-tight shirt turned his body towards Matt. I smelled his strong cologne, which made me nauseous.
"Back off, Gruber. This is none of your business."
Matt's eyes closed into slits, and he sent the disgusting guy an evil smile. "I think you're wrong, Miller. This is none of your business. I suggest you back off".
"Do you know each other?" I glance between them, brows knitting together.
"We're teammates, Sienna. But not for long. Miller here should be leaving soon." Matt's mischievous smile gained full force on his face.
"You’re such an a.ssh.ole, Gruber. You took my place in the team, and now what? You want to take away my women also?" Miller is getting more and more aggravated by the minute.
"Your injury was bad luck, but losing your spot as a goalie was your fault, not mine”, Matt replied in a steady tone.
"No! It was because of you, you sneaky bastard", Miller spat the words out of his mouth like poison. He was about to pounce on Matt.
"If you haven’t kept missing your physical therapy and doctor’s recommendations because you thought they were beneath you, you’d probably be back by now. But I can’t complain. I like having your spot." Matt was now gloating, and I feared that a fight would soon break out. That would be unfortunate for Matt, considering the assault charge in his past. I needed to do something before something bad happened, and I put myself between them.
"Let’s drop the testosterone contest, okay? Miller, you can go now. It was not a pleasure meeting you". I said, facing him with a snare.
"Come on, honey. We were getting on very well before this loser arrived," replied Miller, his mouth curving in a smirk. He was clearly not getting the hint.
"No, we weren’t. Do you remember me saying no?" I asked him honestly. I guess the guy was a little slow.
"Come on, blondie. We both know that no means yes, honey". He smiles, and now I was about to punch him in the face.
"No means no, honey," I said with the last word dripping in sarcasm. "This conversation is now over. Bye", I stopped talking to him and turned around to face Matt.
Matt looked over my shoulder and spoke to Miller for the last time. "Miller, just one more thing… If you want to keep your ugly face intact, keep the f.uck away from my wife!" Matt pushed me by my waist, and I came crashing into his strong chest.
My head was buried against Matt’s chest and, for a moment, I didn’t move. My hands were gripping his shirt, and his woodsy scent was engulfing me as a cozy blanket.
My head was still trying to gather my thoughts. Did he really call me his wife in front of a teammate?
I hear Miller muttering something, but his words fade into the background. I can’t focus on them. A moment later, he’s gone.
"He’s gone now. Are you okay?" Matt whispers, his voice low and steady, his hands brushing my hips just enough to send a spark down my spine.
I pulled away from his chest and looked up into his face. His stormy eyes gazed back at me with such tenderness that they took me by surprise.
"Yeah, it was nothing, really." His hands were still standing on my hips, and our feet almost touching. "Why did you do that?"
"I know you didn’t need my help, but I couldn’t resist being a knight in shining armor for a change", he answered me with a crooked smile.
"No, I was talking about saying that I am your wife. Didn’t you want to keep it secret?" I asked, my voice soft.
"That would be wise… But I couldn’t help myself. I know it was petty, but I wanted that a.ss.hole to know you were my wife. I want everybody to know you’re my wife!” He blurted out, and I was startled.
My hands were still resting on his white shirt, and I can’t seem to let it go. Was he aware that he is also still touching me?
And why do you want that?", I whispered, my voice barely audible above the noise of the bar.
-MATT-
She asked why I wanted everybody to know that she was my wife, and I don’t know how to answer that. The only thing I know is that when I saw that piece of s.hit touching her, I wanted to rearrange his face. I wanted to scream at him to stop touching what was mine.
But of course, I can’t tell her that. I chose to lie instead.
"It was the easiest way to make him go away".
She looked at me with those bright reddish-brown eyes as if she was trying to find the truth hidden beneath my words. "Is that so? No other reason?"
"What can I say? I couldn’t let the only supporter that I got today be bothered by that f.ucker", I joked, trying to move around from her question. "By the way, I have to thank you for coming to the game".
"You don't have to thank me. I was trying to convince myself that the only reason I was here was because she pushed me into it. But the truth is, I really wanted to be there for your first game," she says, a light smile tugging on her lips.
This girl… She barely knows me, and yet, she chooses to support me.
My hands traveled up her body and came to rest on the naked part of her waist, the two inches separating her jeans and her top.
Her skin is incredibly soft under my fingers, and I just wish I could run my hands around her whole body. My c.ock twitches in my pants with that thought.
"I’m glad that you did", my voice sounds hoarse in my ears.
She looks down for a moment, drawing her bottom lip between her teeth.
Those f.ucking pouty lips! My left hand moved up before I could stop it, and I cupped her right cheek while my thumb grazed softly that cupid’s bow.
The pull is too strong for me to resist, and I finally close the distance between our bodies.

-SIENNA-In the first game of the season, the Rangers played unbalanced. Passes were missed, sometimes because the players were either too slow or too fast to intercept them. And the puck kept coming back to the other team’s sticks.Somehow, we managed to win. Maybe because Hank scored 3 points, but most likely because Matt barricaded the goal in a way that not even air passed through.By the end of the game, the guys were eager to celebrate the victory. Hank was one of the first players to get out, and he came rushing Michelle and me to go to O’Malleys.O’Malleys was an Irish pub located within walking distance of the arena, which makes it a good place to chill after a game. It was a kind of sports bar, with a cool vibe and a large beer selection. The place was big, with a bar at the entrance, an area with tables, billiards and darts at the back, and the band stage downstairs. Upstairs, it has a more reserved area where the players like to stay.We got ourselves a quiet corner table
-SIENNA-It was Friday night, and I couldn't believe I was going to a hockey game for the second time in my life. Michelle took advantage of my drunkenness last Monday to convince me to go.The first time I attended an ice hockey game was last year, right when Michelle started dating Hank. At the time, we were sitting in the area reserved for wives and girlfriends—or WAGs, as they call them. As I didn't fit into either of these categories, I felt super awkward the whole time. But I was convincing myself that this time would be different.According to Harper, I should have asked Matt for his jersey, but the idea made me very uncomfortable, and I didn't do it. Then Michelle offered me one of her sweaters with Hank's number on it, which I obviously rejected. I chose to wear a black single-front top with a bow at the back of the neck and paired it with black jeans. My hair was loose, with soft curls, and I was wearing light make-up. Before I left the house, I remembered to put on a leathe
-SIENNA-It was a double deal at Habanero, my favorite Mexican bar. That means you get two drinks for the price of one. I was spending time with my best friends and drinking something delicious with passion fruit and lime. Life is good. The bar was a place with dark cream-coloured walls decorated with some Mexican-inspired artwork, such as Frida Kahlo. Along the wall, a long, dark green leather seat is placed facing some tables. With the dim light and the Latin music playing in the background, my mood is good again."So, Sienna, are you going to share with us what you talked about with Roger or what?" Michelle gets straight to the point, after taking a sip of her michelada. It's a Mexican beer drink mixed with tomato juice. I find it disgusting, but she seems to love it. "Please don't spare me any details. Do you think I didn't notice that he closed the door? He'd only do that because of a sordid secret. He finally came on to you? I knew it! That man has had a crush on you for ages."
-SIENNA- The office was frantic on Monday morning. Everyone on our team was extremely focused on finishing next year's budget—everyone except me. My mind keeps going back to that particular night on the weekend. After that moment Matt and I shared in the early morning hours, I hardly slept. The next day, I was so mortified that I almost skipped my yoga class just to hide from him in my room. In the end, I felt very stupid and went to the kitchen to have my breakfast. I'm always very hungry in the morning. As I was finishing my banana smoothie, Matt came out of his room. This time, in addition to his boxers, he was wearing a T-shirt. If I was expecting an uncomfortable situation, I was wrong. He woke up as grumpy as ever. We exchanged just a few words, and he disappeared to take a shower. I haven't seen him since. His behavior made me realize how mistaken I was to think that the moment had been intimate. Most likely, this attraction is only one-sided. Of course, the guy
-SIENNA-I tossed and turned on my bed for almost two hours, but no matter what I did, I still couldn't sleep. This past week at work was a little hectic. We need to finalize the company’s budget for the next year, and everybody’s stress level is pretty high. The numbers keep changing, and mistakes are constantly happening all over the place. At least the main part of the job is done now, and I was hoping to get a good night's sleep finally. My body was exhausted, but my mind was still refusing to slow down, repeating the numbers and revising spreadsheets mentally. It didn’t help the fact that it was a hot late summer night, and my room was like a sauna. Even with my silk cami and shorts, I was sweating.I gave up trying to sleep and decided to watch a movie instead. I don’t like to watch movies on my laptop, so I headed to the living room to watch TV. I grabbed a cold water bottle and sat comfortably on the sofa. I chose one of my favorite comfort movies, Pride and Prejudice, and put
