RAPHEAL.

Dumbfounded.

Confused.

Staring at my fake girlfriend who was displaying a new character.

In nearly two months of living wth her, I had never seen her cry.

We hadn't even grown together because of the type of life she led. She was just enough to keep my mom off my feet.

For now.

The whole fiasco reminded of Yuanita.

How I hated to see her cry.

Yet surprisingly, Sera’s tears twisted something at my heart.

She sniffed and heaved, wiping the much she could with the back of her pa

RAPHEAL “What do you mean?” I demanded, holding my gaze against his unsettled face. I was gathering ever single restraint in me. “I don't know…” he hesitated again. “Rapheal, please I need you to calm down.” “But the temple..” I chipped in, ignoring the news he just announced. “Serafina is there.” “Turns out it's a fake address.” He sighed. “It never existed.” My eyes narrowed. “Is this some kind of prank?” “I understand how you feel but we have to be..” “Be what Ruben?” I queried. “Am I supposed to leave her in there?” “You know where she is?” Is this some kind of joke? “The temple of course!!” I yelled with thin patience. “Look Ruben, I know you are concerned about me but this isn't the time to make silly jokes.” “I should be saying that same thing to you.” He replied. “I just said the temple doesn't exist. The adress miss Ciara gave us is a fake. There is nothing like that in this whole wide world.” He wasn't joking. “So where do you

RAPHEAL “Serafina left you for good, Raphael.” “I warned you! Several times I tried to make it clear to you that she was not good for you. Yet you didn't listen.” I hated my mother. And I hated the fact that she was beginning to sound right. Going to the temple, passing out occasionally from exhaustion, getting hoisted back to my mansion, and waking up with half of my body attached to IV drips and machines had been my routine for three weeks now. Although my brain was cloudy, her words were as clear as a lake, ringing loudly in my ears and cruelly reminding me of my misfortune. I stared at the only thing I could grasp from her disappearance, the ruby heart shaped necklace. It had nearly cost an arm and leg to retrieve it from the station, given it was found at Don Columbus’ murder scene. Tears threatened to pool at the corners of my eyes, but I quickly pushed them back, as soon as I heard footsteps approaching. I suddenly became aware of my en

  • Dooming the mafia devil    He left

SERAFINA “Serafina!!” His voice resonated louder, as Ciara and I raced to the down floor. “Please Sera I need to talk to you! I promise I won't take much of your time please. I just..” the breaking of his voice twisted something in me. “How..” Ciara trailed off, wearing her shock on her face. “He's probably dead.” Someone muttered behind us. Pretty much everyone had gathered at the sound of his voice. The temple wasn't visible to humans, except they died some sort of painful death and was supposedly lost on the path to the afterlife. There in, the temple becomes visible to them and they come to seek help. In most occasions, they usually come bearing a grudge at the news of their death, and their trespassers are assigned to special missioniers. At least, eighty in every hundred task came from these spirits, while the rest were special orders from the heavens. Like Rapheal. There were off situations at time, like when someone cursed them so despe

  • Dooming the mafia devil    Finding her

RAPHEAL The familiar scent of mint assaulted my sense of smell, and I quickly opened my eyes. Despite the heaviness lounged in them, my brain did a quick check for me, fully jolting me to reality. Finally gathering my strength, I sat up to the dark empty room which was originally mine. I was back at the mansion. I looked around, quickly scanning for any abnormalities like Serafina, even though I knew she wouldn't be here. It made my chest tighten. Pushing the large duvet aside, I walked to the not so far vanity table, poured myself a glass of water and gulped down. If I couldn't treat my heart, at least I could tend to my parched throat. I must have been out for so long. Ruben walked in the next second, his face assuming its usual scorn and judgement. “You are awake.” “You are here.” I replied, stopping in front of the mirror to observe my disheveled look. Even my shadow would have been disappointed. The almighty Rapheal Dekoms who made heads rol

  • Dooming the mafia devil    Wrath

SERAFINA When it dawned on me that I had lost all sense of feelings in me and that they had been replaced by an eternal feeling of numbness, was when everyone scampered for safety in the temple, fearing for their lives hence they fell into the hands of Marionette and incurred her unforgiving wrath. Everyone knew better than get on her bad side. Everyone except me. So that morning, when the normally serene temple was suddenly replaced by chaos, I knew I had tempted her again. But I was too numb to feel any emotions. “Where the hell is she?” I heard her voice yell from the hallway downstairs. “Serafina!” I was supposed to run. But I didn't want to.. “Serafina!!” She yelled again, followed by the sound of a crashing glass. She had probably ruined one of the sculptures placed at the gallery. A frantic knock echoed through my door. “Serafina!” Ciara whispered. “Holy fucking Mary.” “Open this door!” She whispered again. “You need to get of here!”

  • Dooming the mafia devil    Under the rain

SERAFINA Background song: Dynasty by Miia. This chapter would have more effect with the background song. I wished he had followed me. But I was happy he didn't. The rain drops splattered on the tinted glass of the cab that was headed to the temple. As I traced the mist they cast on the glass, i somehow wished I had come as a raindrop instead. They were so free.. Free to do whatever they wanted and fall on whomever.. I couldn't decipher where the sudden blurriness came from, but I knew it wasn't enough to numb the pain that erupted from my heart and seized my whole body, making me wish I was dead. A phone suddenly pinged, drifting me back to a harsh reality. “The weather forecast never gave any information about an incoming rain.” the cab driver spoke. “It was unexpected.” The voice over the speaker replied. “And you left your umbrella at home.” He sighed. “Tell me about it.” “Don't worry, I will prepare a hot curry soup for you when

RAPHEAL Such fake love and welcome greetings that filled my insides with disgust, was all we could get upon arrival at the party that had already begun in full swing. But it didn't matter, as long as I had Serafina with me. My eyes slowly combed through the crowd for my mom but she was no

SERAFINA Anger washed through me at the thought of going through this episode again. This strange episode of sharing my body with someone else. “What do you want?” My voice nearly rose as I stared at the strange but familiar reflection in the mirror. “I should be asking you that.” She

  • Dooming the mafia devil    Strange

RAPHEAL The middle aged detective meticulously signed off some papers and handed the file to his assistant who took them out. Contrary to his cold demeanour when he set his eyes on me, he had turned out to be rather understanding and patient with me. “That's all.” he flashed me a warm sm

  • Dooming the mafia devil    NO

RAPHEAL I never believed in fantasies nor ghosts nor unnatural suspensions. But as I stared back at Serafina, it dawned on me that some things were beyond human recognition. The world had stopped moving. My breath caught in my throat as I tried to make sense of her. Yet no
