A Trap Unveiled

“I see you learned my identity; you always were a smart girl.” Stepping closer to the brick and steel wall, Genesis crossed his arms over his chest and raked his eyes over me, the action made my stomach flip in disgust. “Though I guess you aren’t a girl anymore, even if you didn’t grow very tall, and you are very pale, don’t you train outdoors?”

“I think I have you to thank for both of those things, Uncle. After all, fifteen years in a hole in the ground allows for a not-so-great diet and no sun.” I knew this was a reach, we had no proof Genesis had thrown me in my prison, but I wanted to know. I needed him to admit it.

“You can’t still be mad about that, after all, look who you’ve become! I did that for you.” His dark blue eyes bore into mine, and I could see the crazy there, he believed everything he said.

“I wasn’t this person until after my mother and father found me, taught me, trained me. I was a weak, scared
