Chapter eight: starting again

The boy shook his head repeatedly in refusal. He doesn't want to get punished by his mother.

"Please I don't want to get myself in trouble," the boy said with worry.

On seeing her little hope almost crashing to the ground, Kathie quickly rushed towards Kelvin with pleading eyes and held his shoulder tenderly.

" I swear you won't be in trouble, I will take care of everything. I promise you if this workout, you might be working hand in hand with Kathie Matinez" She said quickly, showing how anxiously she needed to leave the house.

The boy's eyes flared in overwhelming joy at hearing the name of his female celebrity crush being mentioned, " Really?" He asked instantly.

" Yes dear," Kathie said with a flashy smile but suddenly, Kelvin's mood changed so drastically which Kathie caught so quickly.

" What is it dear?" Kathie inquired, looking at his face with concern.

"  I wish I could only just say hi to her but too bad she died so drastically. Everyone is torn up by her death" Kelvin explained, looking so unhappy but to Kathie, it was more of a parable.

Kathie stood there with furrowed brows, looking so disheveled, " Who?"

" Kathie Martinez," The boy responded.

" But am still here" Kathie mistakenly blurted out and quickly held her mouth to avoid making a more confusing statement, " I mean… How did she die?"

The cute browned-haired boy looked at Kathie weirdly but still replied to her question.

" From what I heard from the news, she was raped and hanged on a rope and an acid was poured on her face that impaired her face. No one recognized her at first when they found her body on the roadside near her car" The boy narrated with a crouched face to explain how irritating the face was.

Kathie froze there in deep thought.' So, I died that night. It wasn't a dream, it all happened that night. They killed me without pity just because of the greed of men. I will revenge with pure vengeance no one will be left out"

" Hello!" the boy waved his hands in front of Kathie to bring her back from her thoughts.

" Sorry, I zoned out,"  Kathie apologized with an exasperated sigh while rubbing her eyes to stop the tears from falling.

Her life has pulverized down to nothing. Despite all the suffering, all the humiliation she had endured to get to where she once was, human nature and an inexplicable phenomenon had changed everything.

" Are you going to help me or not?" Kathie reminded Kelvin. She's running late for the show and she needs to find a way out!

It didn't take long before the sound of a door opening and closing with a loud bang was heard and a clicking sound was heard after indicating that the door had been locked.

And Kathie was sure that whoever locked the door had taken the key with her which meant she needed a new route out.

" I think there is another way out from the basement" the brown-haired boy finally announced and that brought a new light of hope within Kathie.

" Give me a sec" Kathie quickly went inside and shot the door. She hastily put on her clothes and rushed towards the bathroom to clean the rough makeup that had been destroyed from all the tears that were shed that day.

" Hurry up before my mom will look for me," the boy said with a low tone.

" I am coming" Kathie replied with the same tone, and after cleaning, she went back to apply another makeup however, this time, it was going to be a light one.

Soon, she was out and they headed to the basement. The basement was serene and not to lie, scary at the same time.

After scouring for the door which Kelvin could no longer remember since it had been a long since he last saw the door Kathie made it out of the other street.

The street was busy with cars and civilians going to their various businesses and locations. Seeing the bright day again, Kathie breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, her plans were about to work out.

She walked about a few blocks away from her prison before deciding to wait for a taxi. She stood under the sun for about two minutes before she saw a hackney cab coming in her direction.

She waved at the cab and the car slowed down a little before stopping near her. The windows rolled down a little, revealing a bearded man sitting on the driver's seat with a stern face which Kathie didn't bother to check because she was already late for the audition.

" How much will it cost to get to Henrich company?" Kathie asked casually.

Look at her pricing a taxi when she had once owned a car.

" 30 cents " the man responded dismissively without even taking a single glance at the passenger, nevertheless, Kathie wasn't called out for such an attitude.

" Okay. I thought it would be far from here but I guess I'm wrong" Kathie opened the back seat and sat comfortably in the car.

To be honest, the total money in her purse was 50 cents which should go for her toe and fro.

She got the money from a hidden savings bag from one of Ashley's clothes when she was roaming around everywhere in search of good clothes. A lucky day but not so lucky.

Soon the car took off, heading toward where her story began. Where everything came to be.

She was nervous to the extent that she was visibly shaking. She made a little prayer and closed her eyes, waiting for the car to reach her destination.

" We are here," the driver announced.

" What!" Kathie was shocked as she fluttered her eyes open, " We reached there so soon?"

However, the driver didn't say a word. He waited patiently for his money.

It was as if they reached there in a twinkle of an eye. Like how fast can he drive?

Kathie quickly looked around her surroundings to check and when she saw the big skyscraper filled with people she finally agreed that they had indeed reached.

" Oh, that was fast but shouldn't it cost less than 30 cents" She was trying to save more money by negotiating with the driver, but the man wasn't ready for such a play.

" Miss, you are wasting my time"

" Fine!" Kathie quickly said and handed him his money, " So mean"

She came out of the car and closed the door and as soon as her eyes landed on the building, the realization got her. All her memories both good and bad, came floating in.

She stood there in a daze to take in the fetching sight in front of her. Soon, her eyes caught the beautiful damsel that was used for the company's billboard.

The lady was so charming and her smile was so captivating.

And that person was no other person than her, Kathie Martinez.

Kathie smiled on seeing herself representing the company's name but soon her smile vanished from her face upon realizing that she was no longer Kathie Martinez.

A drop of tear fell on remembering how she was molested that night and her heart was immediately filled with so many precarious emotions.

" Here we go again," she said wickedly and started heading toward the agency.
