Chapter seventeen
Lucian stood in front of Ava’s room, he heaved a deep sigh and keeping his face blank, he pushed open the door. She was lying on the bed and didn’t even bother to look at him. He threw the fancy bag he had come back with on the bed, “change into one of these, lunch would be ready soon,” he turned and walked out of the room. When outside and protected by the closed doors, he heaved a sigh and massaged his temple, he really needs to get a hold on himself because he really can’t understand what he was doing or what was going on with him. With that, he walked through the dark lobby and out to the living room.

Four days later, Ava snapped her eyes open at the sound of the thunder, her heart was beating loud in her chest, she has never been a friend of the thunder and the phobia had started when she was still five and her house was attacked by some men. Her mother had locked her up in the wine cellar with nothing to accompany her but the angry roar of the thunder beating loud around the house and deep in her chest as well as the sound of gunshots raining everywhere. Ever since that night, she never slept alone when it was raining because she always fear that the night would repeat itself.The lightening drew, sending flashes of light into her room and making her shut her eyes once more and when the thunder roared, she screamed along with it. Fear was invading her and she clutched tightly on the bed sheet, waiting, listening for when she would hear the scream of men and followed by gunshots. Ava screamed immediately she had the sound and Lucian covered her mouth with his hand quickly, looking deep into her eyes as she was shaking violently. Finally, her fear came to pass; this was how it all started that night. He opened the back door and brought out their bags and when Ava walked up to him, he handed her his debit card, “get us a room, I’m afraid, Ava but we have to stay together, the rain might have stopped but I need to keep an eye on you, understand?” She nodded once more and he heaved a breath before walking ahead first and her following.When they walked into the hotel, both the receptionist and the bellhop were fast asleep, looking around the place, Lucian knew they won’t be much security around there and which means he would need to be extra vigilant.
