Chapter three

The man smiled and looked at her, his black eyes roamed all over her body, her nightwear wasn’t too light but he could see her round shaped breasts and his eyes locked on her chest for a while longer. She gulped, sensing his gaze and she pulled her hands up to block her chest. He chuckled and rolled his eyes, turning around and walking to the mini bar at the other side of the room. Picking up a tumbler, he opened a bottle of half drank whiskey and poured himself a glass. He carried the tumbler and walked back to the living room and sat on the sofa opposite her, he sipped his drink, his eyes still on her and a little smile playing at the corner of his lips.

She gulped and looked around, anywhere but at him, “so um…what do you want from me?” she looked at him then.

He smacked his lips and looked at his drink, “me? I want nothing from you.”

“Then why did you kidnap me?” she asked, a little annoyed, “obviously, you must have a purpose of doing that.”

“Yes,” he glanced at her, “I’m to deliver you.”

“What the heck?” she frowned.

He smiled more profoundly, “of course you know my job, someone paid a good amount for me to deliver you so I am doing just that, cheers,” he raised his tumbler at her and sipped the drink.

“You are crazy, I mean, you are the worst man on earth, how can you do that, what…ah,” she groaned and stood up from the couch and paced around, “you could have just say so, my father would have paid twice, even triple or quadruple the amount paid to you, I mean, you could have earned more if you have just said so. Come to think of it,” she turned to him, “it’s not too late, you can still do that, just give me a phone and I will call my father, you can mention any amount you want. Even, we will make it seem like you rescued me, I can do that much for you.”

He waited until she was done before asking, “what’s your name?”

She frowned, “Ava.”

He nodded, “that’s a nice name,” he sipped his drink.

“So?” Ava asked.

He downed his drink in a go and stood up, making her take a step back, “Ava, be a good niña and sit down, it doesn’t work that way, okay?”

Ava groaned angrily, “you are a fool, I am giving you once in a life time opportunity and you are throwing it away? How can you be so dumb? Huh, my father will pay any amount, any amount you mention, millions of dollars and you are throwing it away for what?”

“Eight million dollars,” he replied with a smile.

“I can’t believe you,” she shouted, “El Diablo or whatever you call yourself, I thought you are smart, I thought you go after the money, my father would pay you many more than eight million if you would just take me back, I will make sure of it, I promise, just give it a thought, okay?”

He didn’t say anything to her and just walked to the bar, drop his tumbler and left. Ava couldn’t believe him, what is wrong with him? She wondered, she was offering him money after kidnapping her and yet he just walked out on her? No man has ever done that before. Normally they all worship her because of her father, they will do anything for her, it was the first time she had met a man that talked to her without respect or fear. Biting her lip and running her fingers through her hair angrily, she looked around the living room once more. The ceiling and floor was the same shade of brown, the walls and the couches were white, the curtains were white and the fireplace was brown. The mini bar was white with a little shade of brown. Guess his favorite colors are white and brown, it was very obvious.

She looked at the door he went out through and a thought occurred to her, why beg him to take her back when she could just escape? She quickly rushed to the door she believes would lead her outside and turned the handle but it was locked, she rushed to the windows, but to her surprise, it wasn’t normal windows with handles that can open them, it was just plain glass, no handle or anything to open it with. She groaned and looked around, there must be an open place, they have to be, she rushed to another door and pushed it but it was locked as well. She tried applying force but it was of no use, what the heck? She thought.

Biting her lip and tapping her feet softly on the floor, she studied her surrounding; the living room was air tight, fine, maybe the windows in the rooms won’t be like that, she was immediately happy noticing there weren’t any stairs which means it was a bungalow. She searched around but apart from the door he left through, there wasn’t any other door apart from the other two she had tried already. “Damn,” she whispered, “how can he live in a place like this?” she stared at the door, wondering if she should go through it or not, but what if she bump into him? That was the last she wanted.

After a while, she decided to take the risk, maybe he won’t be behind the door and would just be somewhere else. Softly turning the handle, she opened the door and peeked, everywhere was shrouded in darkness and she blinked to get her eyes accustomed to it. Entering, she closed the door behind her and tried to walk as noiselessly as she could, she felt her way with the wall until she touched what felt like a door, searching for the handle, she tried to open it but it was locked as well. She tried harder, grunting in the process but it was of no use.

She gave up and decided to check for another, she found two more doors but was the same as the first one. She was getting impatient, what is with him and locking doors and most importantly, where was he? Could he be in one of the closed doors? But there weren’t any sound in any of them, what could he be doing? The dark hall was unending and she decided to get to the end. She walked on, feeling for more doors but there was none. She collided with the wall, bumping her forehead on it. “Aw,” she grunted and kneed the area, “fuck,” she whispered and touched the wall to realize it wasn’t a wall but actually a door, she reached for the handle and turned it and for the first time, it opened. Happiness surged into her as she pushed open the door to be met with the light. The light was painful and she shut her eyes immediately, adjusting her eyes to it, she opened her eyes slowly to discover she was in a room, the room shares the same shades of colors with the living room, white and brown and she didn’t need to be told where she was.

She glanced at the gigantic bed and saw him, he was shirtless and asleep, really? He is sleeping? She couldn’t believe her eyes, how could he bring her here, abandon her in the living room to sleep? She rolled her eyes and went to the windows only to be met with the same fate she met in the living room, the windows has no handle. She turned to the sleeping man on the bed, wanting to curse at him but not wanting to wake him up. Hold on, she thought, everything is locked, it only means one thing, he has the key, either the key or the remote or whatever that would open everything, but where could it be?

She tiptoed to the drawers and started searching through each of them but she found nothing like a key or remote, she turned and looked around the room, there wasn’t much thing in it, no hidden places for things to be hidden, the room reminded of her dad’s room, there was nothing in his room except for the drawers and walk in closet. Thinking of that, she went straight to the doors she saw at the other side of the room and opened one to find herself in a walk in closet. Every single cloth was a suit, black suit and many briefcases lying around and black shoes.

“What is he doing with so many suits?” She whispered to herself, her eyes going around, there wasn’t anything colorful, every single piece of cloth was black, there was a drawer as well and she opened it to be met with white under wears, “really?”

“Yes,” a voice said behind her and her heart dropped to zero, she turned around to see him, he was leaning on the door with his hands folded on his shirtless chest, she gulped, taking in his body, “my eyes are up here,” he reminded.

Ava felt so ashamed of herself and embarrassed, she looked up at him, his black eyes were taunting her and a smile was playing on his lips, “yes I know, don’t give yourself hope.”

He scoffed, “what are you doing here?”

“Nothing, I was just…um…looking for the bathroom.”

“Really? You know, one thing I hate is someone snooping around. I don’t get much sleep and I hate being disturbed and that is what you have been doing since you entered here. First, searching though my drawers and now in my closet? Are you silently telling me that I shouldn’t let you roam around free? Come to think of it, I like the idea of tying you up.”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

“Trust me, I would,” he said and went after her.

“Hey, what the hell do you think you are doing?” Ava asked, seeing the way he was approaching her, “don’t you come any closer. Hey,” she shrieked when he picked her up, “put me down, you animal,” she screamed, hitting him at his naked back but he didn’t flinch neither did he stop her. The next thing she knew, she was thrown on the bed, she yelped and stared at the man in front of her, “what do you want to do?” she asked, seeing him leaning down on her.

He smirked and said nothing, “hey,” she called, “don’t you dare touch me, I will make your life miserable, I assure you that,” she threatened but he kept approaching, “do-don’t, I’m warning you,” she gulped, licking her lips, her blue eyes watching him as he approached. He was now hovering above her and she could feel her heart beating loud in her chest, her mind went wild on what to do but before she could get to a solution, she felt something tightening on her hand and looked up to see he was tying her hands together, “hey, what the hell are you doing, let me go,” she started struggling but he was much more stronger than her.

When done tying her hand, he tied her feet, “I’m going to kill you, do you hear me? I will kill you, mark my word, I will escape and I will come back and kill you and no matter how sorry you look begging for your life, I would laugh and still end your life…”

She wouldn’t stop talking, making threats and he winced and reached for the cabinet beside the bed, opening it, he brought out a tape and she shut up immediately, “Oh, puedes callarte, pensé que eres una radio sin batería?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, Oh, you can shut up, I thought you are a radio without battery?”

Ava frowned, it was clear she didn’t understand what he said, “what…what did you…?”

“Pero no confío en ti, así que esto te callaría,” he interrupted, “But I don’t trust you, so this would shut you up for me.”

“You speak Spanish?” she asked, surprised, “wait…what did you just say to me?”

He smiled and taped her mouth, she was mumbling, trying to free herself but he all did was fall on the bed beside her with his eyes closed, “ah, la paz y la tranquilidad,” he sighed in bliss, “ah, the peace and quiet.”

Ava watched him from the corner of her eyes, mumbling things to him but he ignored her, the next thing she heard was his heavy breathing, he had fallen asleep right beside her, leaving her all tied up and mouth-taped.
