Ava couldn’t bring herself to stand up from the floor, all her thoughts had turned clouded and the only thing going through her mind were his last words. Her mother’s face flashed in her mind and she remembered the last time she saw her. She had walked down from her room ready for school and her mother was smiling brightly and making breakfast, her father was sitting on the stool and telling her something, also smiling. They had both turned to the door on hearing her enter the kitchen and she had received the warmest smile from her mother who walked towards her and placed a big kiss on her head before wrapping her in a big bear hug.

Ava stood beside her window and staring into the garden and the beautiful flowers there. She heaved a deep sigh and closed her eyes, breathing in the fresh air of the day. She couldn’t believe that two years has passed by already, it still feels like yesterday that everything was happening. Ava returned to her room after her father left her at the dining table like he always does. She had lost her appetite even before going over to the dining so when he left, she didn’t have to pretend that she was enjoying the meal and just pushed the plate aside and left the area. It was hard going about the day after hearing such a story. Ava has always known the woman had a bad story but she never knew it was sad as well, so sad that it makes her feel sorry for her and him. So many times she had wished there was a way to help the woman and if possible tell her that her son was alive and he was the one she had asked her about the early times they knew each other but she had decided against that immediately. She can’t tell her that, first of all, she needs to find a way to contact Lucian, she still has not forgotten how he reacted the day she had mentioned about his mother not training him in basic etiquette.
