Chapter thirty

Lucian stiffened when he heard the gunshot, he pushed Ava away softly and looked deeply into her eyes, seeing the tears there, his heart wavered. His fingers on her shoulders tightened as he glanced down at the gun in her hand and then at his stomach. And that was when he felt it: nothing. No pain, no blood stain, nothing and then he heard a body slumping on the ground and turned to see the man who still had shock written all over his face as he took his final breath.

He was surprised seeing the man, when he had entered the room, all his attention had been on her, he didn’t sense the man, never occurred to him that someone else was in the room with her, a detail he never misses before and then he realized, if Ava had not shot the man, he would have been dead because he was totally relaxed that she was alone and there was no attacker. It was also the reason he had thought he was the one she shot, only for him to discover that it was actually her father’s man. From
