Chapter 5

    Hailey looked at her desperate of a lie she could tell Cora to avoid more questions, “Master Don dismissed me as his personal maid few moments ago.” She said sadly, fake tears streaming down her eyes.

“What!”

“What did you do to him?.” Cora asked surprisingly, she knew the consequences following him dismissing her won’t be good.

         If she had offended him, it’ll be more better for him to punish her or kill her than dismissing her as his personal maid, she might be privileged to have her own room and a high position but surviving will be very hard for her.

     Her high position will be based on something life threatening in the clan and might end up getting framed and killed later on. “I mistakenly spilled drink all over his dress.” She said avoiding Cora eyes, Cora knew she was lying.

    She has never made such mistake before so why will she make it now despite knowing the kind of master she serves, “And he didn’t kill you?.” Cora asked her.

“He almost did.” Showing her the red mark which appeared when he gripped her neck, Cora gasped, “And he almost shot me, I don’t know why he changed his mind and asked me to go.” 

        Knowing why he did that, Cora speak up, “Hailey, you’ll need to go beg him, you know I’ve been in the clan for a year before you came and I’ve been serving master Sword since I care, there has only being two personal maid whom served master Don and was spared even after their mistake, that was before you started serving him.”

   Hailey nod her head still not getting it, “Okay?.” She request further more for information about the two maids.

“So they were given the same high post though different times, but were later framed and killed, their death was more brutal than they getting killed immediately by master Don...”

         Hailey interrupted her coldly and rudely, “I’ll be fine, it’s more better than me serving him then expecting my death almost every time I went to serve him.” She said and roll her eyes before starting to pack her things again.

      Cora knowing she wouldn’t let her talk, went to drop the flask and took a bottle water from her bed stand, “Where are you going again? And where are you coming from in the first place?.” Hailey asked noticing her.

“I didn’t mention I was going out of the clan, I went to serve master Sword and returned back here to take my bottle water and well take a walk round the clan as usual.” Cora answered her and quickly went out before she could ask her another question.

    She went towards the lane of the underground room again, “Oh Lord I’m just caring for a fellow female like me, don’t know why im this scared.” She prayed before entering, the light came on when she entered.

  Viola stood up seeing her again, “Why did you come back after leaving?.” She asked surprised. Cora smiles at her and knocked her head, “I bought you food to eat but no water which is why I’m back again, take this.” She gave her the water in her hand and sat beside her.

“I’ve never felt this free since I was bought to this place, yes I’m free because my master is nice but there are limit to what I can do, any mistake and I’ll be killed.” Cora said.

   Viola stared at her and decided to ask her the question on her mind, “How were you bought here?.” She asked, Cora stared at her, pain and anger flashed through her eyes but didn’t last long because her tears came running out.

     She contemplated for a while since she just met Viola, she buried her face on her palm crying, she looked up when she felt a soothing hand patting her back gently. 

    Seeing it was Viola, she smiled a bit, “I was sold to master Sword, the right hand man of master Don, by my family, my step-family actually after my father died.” 

“Sorry, where’s this place?.” Viola asked her again, she was being careful not to hurt her, “This is the SERPENT GANG, a mafia cassanova family led by Don with Sword as his right hand man, they are all brutal but Don is the most brutal of them all, you’ll understand soon, I just pray he let you go, at least to be a maid.” 

    Viola smile sadly hearing her words, “I don’t think he’ll ever let me go, he said it when he killed my parents, he’ll make me feel immense pain and torture, that were his words.”

        Hearing this, Cora felt saddened, “He killed your parents?.” She asked, Viola nod her head sadly. She was about talking when they heard movement of someone coming from outside, Cora quickly switched off the light and hide under the bed.

    The door opened not long after she hide and Don came in, he was looking furious but stopped seeing Viola. The light came back on after he came in so he could see everything clearly, he raised his brow at how she was sitted.

“Who was it?.” That was the first wuestion he asked, Cora squeezed herself more trying hard not to be caught, she was so scared knowing of the consequence of being caught, she just went against the master’s instruction.

“I don’t understand what you mean.” Viola said carefully trying not to burst out and implicate her, Don stared at her innocent face but couldn’t see anything like fear in her.

     He was so sure someone was coming secretly to feed her but didn’t say anything, he turned his back to go when Viola’s voice stopped him, “Can you please, just please let me out of here, darkness is scary, I promise to behave myself, you can turn me into your maid, I’ll kill all your rooms and mansion, just please let me out, I will never do anything that’ll contradict your rules.” She said crying, she kneel down while holding a pleading hand.

“Just please.” She begged, Don looked back at her, then remembering he doesn’t have a personal maid, he uttered, “You’ll be my personal maid, I’ll inform someone to come take you up, meanwhile, you should watch out for yourself.” He walked out after saying this.
