Chapter Two; The Journey To Argos

She didn't want to appear weak and helpless but she could not help the tears that streamed down her face since yestereven and now she was exhausted, angry, sad, all her emotions worn out. Dante who hated tears had gone to sit out with Orion who rode drove the carriage.

An idea came to life, after all they'd been on this journey since dawn. She was going to request a break. She didn't want to come face to face with whatever they were going to use her for. Dante's words hovered above her like some good sign. His beloved wife? She almost scoffed but didn't. She wondered why her father would send her out to a man she was sure he didn't make acquaintance with before sending his daughter....

She hit the roof with her hands but they didn't stop.

Dante left ear twitched but ignored it. If she was going to call his attention, she was going to try harder.

She was took weak to try to do anything, she had to save her energy for running. She unfolded the wrapper that bore bread in it, using her hands to search frantically for a pocket. There was none.

She sucked a breath in, shoving three loaves of bread into her bust. Pleased with herself, she lifted the jar of water that sat beside the chair and drank it all up. She felt a whole renew of strength. She lifted her hips up and kicked the ceiling of the carr.

Dante halted the driver at the sound. Getting off the Cge to inspect, when he opened the door he found her exactly the way he left her, sad, angry, slouched...

He squinted his eyes at her for a second. He hated the way he couldn't read her mind, the way he could be in her shoes. Why on earth would he have a mate as clueless, human, annoying, void of life, young..- he could go on and on but he was more pissed at himself than her.

The fact that he has to lure her to him angered him the most. How could a father be up and ready to give away his daughter over a few pieces of silver and she didn't even know. How would he start conveying that type of message to her small brain?

"I need to relieve myself."

She cut him off even though he didn't even try to speak.

"You have to be careful on these grounds. It's slippery."

He said plainly while she glanced over to the ground. How was it snowing? It was Juagust. She glanced over to the coat he'd told her to wear earlier. She was going to need it.

She grabbed it and without a thoughtful or even listening mind, carelessly stepped out of the Carr almost making her fall. Dante stopped that from happening, quick, like a snap of a finger to use his body to break the fall. It was a stupid choice of saving for both of them because they both fell onto the ground.

Grace's body letched and she flew. Even now that she was up, the feeling was still there.

"I'm so--"

She started, darting into the woods through the snow. She wasn't going to get far but she would try, the snow seemed to be sinking her feet at each step but she dragged, heaving, running, not looking back, scared that if she did, he might engulf her in whatever darkness he had in his hands.

Dante ran after her not wanting to scare her if he just appeared and disappeared like a ghost.

"Grace!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. "There is a reef-"

A shriek left Grace's lips when he teleported to her. He was standing at the Edge and she just a few steps away from dying. Dying.... Maybe that was her solution. She ran again only this time, towards him and pushed him over the edge. She heaved a heavy sigh, almost teary. Is he dead?

She hovered above the edge looking down at the body that had spread over onto the snow. Something ripped from her like ... like ... Sorrow and it was gut wrenching. This was the man that was abducting her. Why was she feeling like she had lost someone important, and not just anyone,...... Him.

She began carefully on the sloppy hill that led to him and for some reason she hoped he wasn't dead.

"Mr Dante?"

She called, kneeling by him with a arm out deciding whether or not to touch him.

Dante's eyes flew open. The smell of her blood riveting in his veins, his fangs more prominent than ever. He shuddered, his hands reaching for hers. Often, he would resist but it was his mate's and any energy he had left in him dried up like a river during drought. He brought her hand to his mouth only to taste nothing.

Grace was supposed to be scared but for some reason, she wasn't. She hadn't seen a vampire up close before since her father barely let her live the compound and if this one wanted her blood to survive, he could.

His breath shuddered, staring at it. Her wound had sealed up and there was nothing for him, nada. How dare she trick him like that? He shook his head in distaste, fighting compulsion even though the longing was still there, he was going to bear with it. He would have blood when he got home.

Why did he heal her instead of take from her? Grace thought as they made their way back to the carriage. Now she was more stick with him than ever. She was supposed to have ran when she had the chance but it was not like her dress and shoe was going to make it anyway. It was wet, torn and had suffered every torture. She wondered where that stupid coach man had disappeared to-

They were all new, she thought. And she over heard her sisters traveling to the south for the holiday. She nodded when the coach man helped her into the carr. She shook her head refusing to accept any thought that was about to conjure in her head. Where did he get the money? And on that same day, she was sent to Dante all dressed up just to deliver a message that told him to take care of her--

She was the one who shuddered this time. But for some reason, the tears didn't come. There was nowhere to run to anyways so why even bother trying? Angrily, she shoved her hand into her dress and brought out a boule of bread.

Dante's left brow shot up, though annoyed, he was amused. He had to give her that. So that was all she was hoping to depend on if she has ran away. He chuckled earning a glare from her which he quickly looked away from. But from the cor TTner of his eyes, see her reach in that same spot for another and stretch it towards him.

He surveyed her face, longer than he wanted to.

"I'm not hungry."

"If you can adultnap me, the least you could do is collect food when I give from the bottom of my heart"

He chuckled.

"And I reckon you pushed me off the reef from the bottom of your heart too."
