“Jason!” I said breathlessly. My heart started pounding in my chest as I knew I couldn’t wait to see what the morning would bring.

“Okay, we can go, but you must be VERY quiet! Regardless of what you see, you must not give away our position, understood?”

“YES! Now, let’s go!” I whispered. I started climbing down the tree without waiting to see if he was even coming with me. I was going with or without him. My feet hit the wet earth with a silent thud. It was on instinct that I kept crouched down and barely rose above the bushes.

We brought our wolves to the front to help us smell out where he located at. The colors of the forest got instantly became more vibrant as the little details stood out. Staying low, we weaved through the brush. The smell of Jason’s blood got stronger and stronger. Dax had found a trail of blood on some leaves. It started as small drops but became more puddles, as it seemed they had rested for a minute.
