Chapter 1

Clarie's POV

A musky smell of pine with chocolate filled my nose, making me lose concentration on the dance floor. Where I was, the musky smell was so strong and I couldn't stop myself from wanting to get more of it.

Inside of my tummy cringed as I began to feel very giddy. I didn't know why the feeling was there but I felt it and it was intense.

I couldn't understand what was happening but I knew that I was being drawn to the smell and as I moved, the scent increased

I was on the dance floor, having a dance with the future Alpha of Crimson Pack. I hated dancing but I had no other choice, I had to stay and dance with him because my dad had asked me to.

How I hated going to such gatherings held for only the high ranked werewolves but who am I to say otherwise?

My father is the Alpha of Blemish pack, making me a high ranked werewolf.

My dance partner Luca spinned me around and the intense smell of pine and chocolate came again, getting me more distracted. I turned my head around as my eyes danced around the people in the hall.

"Has anyone told you how beautiful you look?" Luca, the future Alpha of the Crimson Pack asked and I smiled feeling a bit flushed.

"Thank you Luca, please excuse me, I want to rest" he nodded and I bowed as we ended the dance, the music was soft and tender in my ears as werewolves laughed and chatted on the dance floor.

My father and I had attended the party held for only high ranked werewolves which was held by the Alpha of Crimson pack and normally I wouldn't attend this but I was forced to attend it by my father.

I sniffed and the musky smell was only getting intense, chills ran down my spine for no reason.

I turned around as I felt like I finally found where the scent was coming from, my eyes met with a set of grey eyes, a light skinned man in a very expensive suit which looked like it was specifically tailored for him, black hair, oval face with long strong jaw, he was very handsome.

My shaking legs moved to him as a creep of blush grew on my face.

My legs trembled when I saw him checking me out, I gulped down the lump that formed in my throat, then walked towards him. He also walked towards me but his face didn't change and the smell increased, making me want to pull him into a hug so I could get more of his scent.

We were standing in front of each other, he looked at me but it was very emotionless, like he was staring at nothing, but I was staring at him and it was like the world had come to a stand still. I looked him in the eye as the music playing in the hall automatically came to a stop in my ears.

My hand stretched to hold him but my actions were caught short by a loud growl, everything came back to normal, the music played and I noticed my dad staring at me.

"Clarie step back, move away from him" he yelled.

"Dad?" I gave him a questioning look.

"Clarie, I said move away from that man" I moved back but my eyes were still fixed on the man, he had a toxic look, his eyes were fixed on me, and he looked so cold .

"Nathan stay the fuck away from my daughter! I don't know what witchery this is but I do not want it." He looks at me. "Claire let's go," his voice boomed around the room

My dad pulled me across the ballroom and I looked back confused. The man just stared back at me blankly and it made me wonder what was happening.

I don't understand why the two of them are acting weird. He's been giving me this cold look and I still can't explain what it means. And just when I am trying to understand him, dad shows up, raking like a phantom psycho. His expression towards the man is more like that shared by sworn enemies. Could it be that something happened in the past between them?

"Dad!" I forcefully pulled my hand away from his hold. "What's the meaning of this?" I asked, taking a few steps backwards. "What was that for?"

"Look, Claire, it's better this remains unknown to you. It's for your own good."

"And how does it have to do with me meeting with him?"

"It has a lot to do. That guy is evil, he's not what you think. He might have an innocent cold expression, but that doesn't count at all. He is dangerous. So, I guess you should thank me rather than screaming."

I was confused. I still don't get why father had to say all those about him. He doesn't look evil to me. Aside from the fact that he does have the innocent cold looks, he still doesn't look as dangerous as father described.

"So what now?" I questioned. "Are we just going to leave like that?"

"Staying any longer isn't the best choice either."

"Even if he is dangerous, you should have let me say hello. I think Nathan is my mate."

"No, he is not."

"Yes, he is. I perceived his scent, and I felt this bond grow for a moment. I can still feel it right now. I don't think he's that dangerous. Even if he is, he won't be with me since I am his mate."

"Trust me, Claire, staying any second around him will be the end of you. Now, no more questions and let's get the fuck out of here."
