Chapter 3

Vincent’s POV

The clink of glass against marble echoed through the living room as I poured myself a drink, trying to drown the frustration boiling beneath the surface.

“You’re really going?” Lilian’s voice pierced the air like a needle. “After all this time, now you suddenly care about that dusty old place?”

I didn’t answer immediately. I took a slow sip and stared out the wide glass windows of our penthouse, the city lights flickering like distant stars. My silence only fueled her rage.

“It’s been over two years since you even mentioned the De Ford mansion. And now, out of nowhere, you're packing up and heading there like it's some urgent matter? What changed?”

I turned to face her, calm on the outside, but cold and closed off within. “It's time,” I said simply.

“Time for what, Vincent? Time to run away from me? From this marriage? From reality?” she hissed, crossing her arms.

I sighed. “Don’t twist this, Lilian. It’s been on my mind for a while. That mansion is the only place that still holds a piece of my parents… I need to see it again.”

She scoffed. “You always use them as an excuse. You hide behind your grief so you don’t have to deal with us.”

My eyes darkened, voice dropping low. “Don’t you dare talk about my parents like that.”

Silence stretched between us, thick and heavy.

Her voice trembled now. “You used to talk to me. You used to at least pretend you cared. Now it’s like you’re just... existing beside me.”

Because I never truly belonged beside you, I thought but didn’t say it.

I drained the rest of the drink and set the glass down, grabbing my keys.

“I won’t be long,” I muttered.

“Don’t bother rushing back,” she snapped, her voice cracking as I walked out the door.

The ride to the countryside was long, but quiet. Just the way I liked it. I leaned back in the car, letting the trees and fields blur past the window. Being away from the city—away from Lilian—gave me room to breathe.

I hadn’t stepped foot in the mansion since my father’s funeral. It wasn’t neglect, just pain. The kind that creeps into your bones and makes familiar places feel haunted.

But something had changed.

A strange restlessness had been eating at me for weeks. I couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t focus. My work, my marriage—it all felt… hollow.

Maybe that’s why I finally gave in to the urge to return. Something was calling me back. Something I couldn’t name.

When the mansion gates finally came into view, something shifted in my chest.

I stepped out of the car, the cool country breeze brushing against my face. The De Ford mansion looked just like I remembered—timeless, grand, quiet. Too quiet.

The staff had gathered outside, lined up neatly in front of the entrance. I could feel their nerves, see the forced smiles. I didn’t care much for formalities, but I let them do their routine.

That’s when I saw her.

She stood beside an older maid, just slightly behind the others, like she wasn’t trying to be noticed.

But she was impossible to miss.

Dark, wavy hair framed a soft face that held more innocence than the city could ever understand. Her lips parted slightly as her eyes landed on me—wide, curious, and uncertain.

And then... our eyes met.

Brown to green.

Time stilled.

She didn’t look away, not immediately. And I didn’t either. Her gaze wasn’t flirtatious like the others, nor calculating. It was real. Pure.

Who is she?

The tension in my shoulders tightened. She looked young. Beautiful. Fragile in a way that made my guarded soul ache. That ache startled me.

“Welcome, Master,” the staff said in unison, snapping me out of the trance.

I forced my gaze forward, clearing my throat.

Madam Mary stepped forward to begin introductions. I barely listened until the girl’s turn came. She looked flustered, her cheeks flushed pink. She opened her mouth, probably to say her name, but I didn’t wait to hear it.

I didn’t trust what was happening inside me.

So I nodded once at Mary and walked inside without another word.

The door closed behind me with a quiet thud, but the silence in my mind was gone.

All I could see… were those eyes.

Chapter 84: Lisa’s POVThe rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor had become part of my life steady, constant, a fragile reminder that my father was still here. For months, I’d sat by his bedside, whispering prayers into the cold, sterile air of the hospital room. I’d told him stories, memories, anything that might reach him through the fog of his coma. Some days, my voice trembled. Other days, I just sat in silence, holding his hand, feeling the faint warmth of his skin and wishing he’d squeeze back. Then one morning… he did.Just a slight movement fingers twitching against my palm. My heart stopped, then started again in a wild, uneven rhythm.“Dad?” My voice cracked. “Dad, can you hear me?”His eyelids fluttered. Mom, he’s awake!”The nurses rushed in, followed by my mother, who gasped and pressed her hands to her mouth. I could barely breathe. My

Chapter: 82 Lisa’s POVIt’s been a week since I found out I was pregnant.Seven days since the doctor looked me in the eye and told me something that would change my life forever.I still remember how the word pregnant echoed in my head like it didn’t belong to me. Like it was someone else’s story, someone else’s life. But each day that passes, it becomes more real. The nausea. The exhaustion. The way my emotions twist without warning. It’s all real. There’s a baby growing inside me.Vincent’s baby. And he has no idea. Some nights, I lie awake just whispering the words to myself over and over, trying to let them sink in. “I’m pregnant. **Chapter 80:Vincent’s POV**I didn't sleep.I couldn’t.I had rushed to the jewelry shop and grabbed the ring and it was so beautiful, I was going to talk to her, beg her until she listens to me. Then I’d propose to her as planned. The day went in a blur. I heard she went to the garden when I went out. That gave me hope so.I sat outside Lisa’s bedroom door the entire night, my back pressed to the wall, head in my hands. I listened to the silence behind the door, hoping for any sound a sob, a breath, a whisper of movement anything to let me know she was still in there. Still mine. But I heard nothing.Just the echo of her last words. “Go away, Vincent. Just leave me alone.”That voice... it didn’t sound like her. It was cold. Detached. Like I was nothing. Like everything we’d built meant nothing. And it killed me.I was really pressed so I went to one of the guest bedroom to ease myself and to clean up a little to look presentable for my darling Lisa. My heart fluttered and a
