Chapter 4

Vincent’s POV

The room hadn’t changed much. My old study still smelled faintly of leather and dust, like time had been waiting for me to return. I dropped my suitcase by the door and walked to the tall windows, watching the last light of day melt into the hills beyond.

But I couldn’t focus on the view.

Her face kept appearing in my mind—those wide eyes, the way her lips parted like she was caught in a secret she didn’t mean to share. That look… it wasn’t just curiosity. It was something else. Something that tugged at the part of me I thought was long dead.

I hadn’t even heard her name.

That irritated me more than it should have.

Dinner was already being prepared. I wasn’t particularly hungry, but I went anyway—more out of routine than desire. The long dining table was filled with familiar staff. Some faces I remembered, others I didn’t care to know.

They moved quickly, trained hands placing plates, pouring wine, keeping their eyes down as they served. But she wasn’t among them.

I leaned back in my chair, eyes scanning the maids one last time.

No sign of her.

I set down my fork and spoke for the first time since entering the room.

“Where is the other one?” I asked coldly.

Madam Mary blinked, confused. “Pardon, Master?”

“The younger maid. The one who stood at the end of the line when I arrived. She’s not here.”

There was a beat of silence before Mary responded, cautious. “Ah… Lisa, sir. She’s on laundry duty tonight. I thought it best not to overwhelm the new ones too soon.”

I didn’t answer right away.

Lisa.

Even her name sounded soft.

I waved a hand dismissively and returned to my meal, pretending not to care. But deep down, I was irritated. Not at her, but at the sudden awareness of her absence.

Why did it bother me that she wasn’t here?

I finished quickly and left the table early, the staff scattering as I walked past them. I needed air. Or maybe I needed something else—something I didn’t want to admit.

Later that night, I stepped into the master bedroom. The bed had been freshly made. The curtains drawn. The scent of lavender lingered faintly in the air.

She’d been here.

I could tell.

My eyes drifted to the pillows, the neatness of the folded sheets, the delicate way the room had been touched. There was care in it. A kind of quiet affection that made the space feel... alive.

Damn her.

I ran a hand through my hair and sat at the edge of the bed, fingers clenched. I’d spent years building walls no one could cross—walls even Lilian had never cracked. But that girl, with one accidental stare, had rattled something inside me.

Something dangerous.

Something I didn’t like.

She was too young. Too innocent. Too off-limits.

But still… I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

How her eyes widened when she saw me. How her cheeks flushed like she wasn’t used to being looked at. How beautiful she looked without even trying.

I shifted on the bed, tension pulling tight through my body.

This wasn’t just attraction. It felt like an awakening. And I hated it.

I needed to control it. Distance myself. She was a maid. A girl with no place in my world.

But as I lay back and closed my eyes, all I could see was her standing in that line—nervous, sweet, and completely unaware of the storm she’d just stirred in me ....

Chapter 84: Lisa’s POVThe rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor had become part of my life steady, constant, a fragile reminder that my father was still here. For months, I’d sat by his bedside, whispering prayers into the cold, sterile air of the hospital room. I’d told him stories, memories, anything that might reach him through the fog of his coma. Some days, my voice trembled. Other days, I just sat in silence, holding his hand, feeling the faint warmth of his skin and wishing he’d squeeze back. Then one morning… he did.Just a slight movement fingers twitching against my palm. My heart stopped, then started again in a wild, uneven rhythm.“Dad?” My voice cracked. “Dad, can you hear me?”His eyelids fluttered. For the first time in years , I saw his eyes dazed, unfocused, but open.Tears spilled down my cheeks before I could stop them. “Mom! Mom, he’s awake!”The nurses rushed in, followed by my mother, who gasped and pressed her hands to her mouth. I could barely breathe. My

Chapter: 82 Lisa’s POVIt’s been a week since I found out I was pregnant.Seven days since the doctor looked me in the eye and told me something that would change my life forever.I still remember how the word pregnant echoed in my head like it didn’t belong to me. Like it was someone else’s story, someone else’s life. But each day that passes, it becomes more real. The nausea. The exhaustion. The way my emotions twist without warning. It’s all real. There’s a baby growing inside me.Vincent’s baby. And he has no idea. Some nights, I lie awake just whispering the words to myself over and over, trying to let them sink in. “I’m pregnant. Chapter: 81 Lisa’s POVIt’s been two months since I came back home. Some days it feels like just yesterday I walked away from everything, and other days it feels like a lifetime ago. My heart still aches the same way it did that night. Some wounds don’t fade with time… they just learn to bleed quieter.Mom hasn’t asked any questions. Not once.I know she wants to. I see it in her eyes — the way she watches me when she thinks I’m not looking. I know she's holding herself back, giving me space. Trusting that I’ll talk when I’m ready. And I love her so much for that… because honestly, I’m not ready. Not even close. The truth still feels too heavy to carry, and saying it out loud would make it too real. I don’t think I can survive it again.I cry most nights. Quietly. **Chapter 80:Vincent’s POV**I didn't sleep.I couldn’t.I had rushed to the jewelry shop and grabbed the ring and it was so beautiful, I was going to talk to her, beg her until she listens to me. Then I’d propose to her as planned. The day went in a blur. I heard she went to the garden when I went out. That gave me hope so.I sat outside Lisa’s bedroom door the entire night, my back pressed to the wall, head in my hands. I listened to the silence behind the door, hoping for any sound a sob, a breath, a whisper of movement anything to let me know she was still in there. Still mine. But I heard nothing.Just the echo of her last words. “Go away, Vincent. Just leave me alone.”That voice... it didn’t sound like her. It was cold. Detached. Like I was nothing. Like everything we’d built meant nothing. And it killed me.I was really pressed so I went to one of the guest bedroom to ease myself and to clean up a little to look presentable for my darling Lisa. My heart fluttered and a
