Chapter 194

Eva's last words echoed in Shawn's head like a haunting whisper;

“Can you not press charges for the kidnap case?”

His body stiffened, and his eyes squinted in confusion;

“What?” Shawn withdrew his hand and pulled back slightly, searching Eva's eyes, “What are you talking about?”

She looked down at her hands and clamped them together;

“I'm scared,” She said softly, her voice breaking. “I don't want to go through that again; I just want to leave peacefully away from all this, with you and the baby. I don't want our baby's life to be in danger again.”

Shawn stared at her with disbelief, “Live peacefully? They kidnapped you just to threaten me. They traumatised you and hurt you; you want me to let it go, just like that? I can't leave peacefully if I let them get away with this.” Shawn stated.

“It's not that hard, Shawn,” she said, still not even meeting his gaze. “Just let it go. We can leave, go somewhere else, and start over; Move to another city, just you, me, and our baby, away

    “Shouldn't we at least tell dad?” Ava asked her mother in a hush tone. Eleanor shook her head, “No, he's doing enough already. We shouldn't add this to his troubles. Let's figure this out on our own.” They were both standing in the middle of the sitting room, dressed up and preparing to leave. “Are you heading somewhere, auntie?” They flinched at the sound of Ryan's voice behind them. She met her mum sitting alone pressing her phone in the waiting room. “Let's go mum.” She said, trying to keep her breaths steady, looking around the waiting room. Eleanor stood up. “We need to wait for the doctor, he said he was going to get your report.” She looked at Eva with furrowed brows, “Are you okay?” She caught a glimpse of how uneasy she was; “I'm fine mum, I just want to go home. I don't want to stay here any longer,” She couldn't hide her trembling voice.Eleanor panicked. “Hey, hey, relaxed Eva. Don't be scared, nothing is going to happen to you, I'm here with you, you are safe here, okay?” She pulled her in closer, she didn't realise that her hands were also trembling too.     “Eleanor! Eva dear!” Diane called and waved as she alighted from her car in the hospital parking lot. Eleanor and Eva were about to enter the hospital main door but they both turned at the sound of Diane's voice. Eleanor waved back at her as she walked closer to them. Diane had a royal blue flared gown on, directly above her knees, her strides were sharp with her low heels which match her black petit hand bag. Her loose curly hair bounced along with her movements. She looked elegant for an hospital visit compared to Eleanor who had a knitted cashmere sweater on, loosely tucked in a high waist jeans which stopped on her ankles and white sneakers to go with it. Her hair was packed in a ponytail and she had a tote bag draped on her shoulder. “I thought I missed you guys.” Daine said with a smile, stopping in front of them.
