"But you knew that was unnecessary, right?" I turned towards Thomas, referring to his little tiff with Lazarus earlier on.

"I couldn't help it." He shrugged.

"Are we cool?" I asked, not taking my eyes off him. He whirled around, and fixed me a stare.

"We've always been." He smiled, and I grinned. Thomas had always been an introvert kind, and seeing him smile like that was a relief.

The glass door opened, and Elise walked out, with a towel draped around her body, and another around her shoulders.

"Hey," I attempted to strike up a conversation. She ignored me, looking around.

"He's gone." Thomas said. I shook my head in realization.

"Lead the way then, or do you guys have to piggyback me?" She muttered, sarcastically.

"Elise..." Thomas began saying when she interrupted him.

"Don't patronize me." She snapped, and turned to me. "Lead the way." She said with an eye roll.

With a resigned sigh, I led the way upstairs, with Thomas tailing her.

this girl is strange. she wants their protection. but doesn't seem to listen as to how they can best protect her. seems she wants them to follow her around reguardless of what is good for them
