I wake in the middle of the night tossing and turning. I have a raging headache and I’m so hot. I throw the duvet off and I’m still hot. Maybe it’s because of Aidan. Stupid wolves and their internal heating. So I throw his arm off of me and half-kick half-roll him away with my foot. Nope. Still hot. And it’s starting to get uncomfortable, like the heat is coming for under my skin and trying to melt me from the inside out. 

I can’t handle this. Getting up I head to the bathroom for a cold shower. The closer I get to the bathroom, the worse the burning fire gets and the foggier my brain gets. I manage to make it into the shower and turn the tap on before slumping to the floor. 

The waters so cold it makes my teeth clatter and my skin to break out in goosebumps. But the fire’s still burning. It burns my fingertips against my drenched clothes. It burns my touching thighs. It burns a path on my cheeks from the silent tears
