Back then, the breakup between Lucas Fenrir and Nara Boris had caused an uproar within the pack. Later on, he married me only because Nara despised me.

I was nothing more than a low-ranking Omega—born into insignificance without power or status.

However, I happened to share a striking resemblance to Nara, the daughter of a noble family in the Silver Shadow Pack.

That resemblance became her greatest humiliation, and Nara loathed me with every fiber of her being. As for Lucas, he just wanted her to suffer.

Everyone seemed to think that I was madly in love with Lucas and was willing to throw away everything for him. In truth, I was only drawn to that face of his—one that looked exactly like his brother's.

The wedding gown delivered by the servants was far too tight and nearly suffocated me. The wedding shoes were too large. They kept slipping, and I almost tripped on stage several times.

Yet all of this was because they had been custom-made for Nara.

My awkward appearance drew bursts of laughter from the guests. Lucas cast a sidelong glance at me, his disdain as sharp as the tip of a blade.

"Elena Whitlock, I hope you learn how to walk properly. I don't want my mate looking like a cripple."

On our wedding night, Lucas lit a cigarette and looked at me with icy eyes.

"I will not mark you, so get that idea out of your head."

I responded meekly, "I know. The person you love is Nara."

"At least you know your place."

With that, he turned and left, leaving me alone on our wedding night.

I had no idea how long this kind of life would continue, but I only wanted to look at him a little longer because that face of his was identical to his brother, Derrick's.

I had once loved Derrick with all my heart.

He was the first to reach out and take me in from the border shelter. He gave me money, an identity, and even the chance to breathe.

Yet in the end, he died from a silver bullet—all because of me.
